Does anyone remember this documentary by Nancy Pelosi's daughter, way back in the 2000 election season?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Journeys_with...

The gist of the whole thing, which unfolded in frightening real-time to those of us who were watching closely, is that Bush won the presidency by courting the media, by cozying up to them, by literally kissing their asses and giving them bologna sandwiches on a jet and making them feel special.

Our media is weird. They are a fickle lot, our fourth-estaters. They suck, to be kind. They are moronic and Pavlovian and they frickin' love them some barbecue. McCain, you've come a long way since those lazy spring Sedona days when you had AP Editors swingin' on your tire.

So, given all of that, including Alexandra's tell-all about how to suck up to the press and win an election, isn't it the most bizarre tack in today's political climate to be openly hostile to the press? They want to be coddled and invited to cocktail parties and shit. Turning on them and making a play for the base isn't just disingenous, it's bad politics that goes against everything that put Bush in power to begin with.

I'm really starting to think, after the smoke clears and we all chill out a bit, that our initial impulse on the Palin decision was correct: McCain and his campaign staff are clown shoes.

Pretty soon they'll lose all of the Washington Elite Media Assrags, and then, what will they have?

Think about it. I'm not trying to give advice to McCain's camp, mind you, but they'd be wise to watch "Journeys With George" because it's practically a master class as far as their kind is concerned.

Our Awesome Liberal Media sucks, and if you're on DU, well, it's probably one of the reasons you landed here. But I smell from the McCain camp not only an epic misread of the mood of the American electorate, but of the BBQ Press, too. And if it goes on much longer, it'll amount to political malpractice.
