A Compendium of WritingIsMyReligion...

I was playing "The Shadow of Your Smile" on the piano, and these little parts were annoying the hell out of me in the left hand, and I couldn't figure out why it wasn't flowing so well. Well, the piece is in the key of G (one sharp--F), which I noticed. I was playing all my F's sharped, tooling along...Oh, wait....That one key I'm playing, an octave below middle C, that's an F, isn't it? And I'm not playing that sharp, am I? That's supposed to be sharp, inn'nt it, just like all the others?

Yeah, I thought so.

One miserable half-step in one teeny portion of the song makes a hell of a difference, folks.

Moral of the story: Never try to learn new piano music when you can't think straight enough to take one fucking F sharp into account.
