When I heard about the killings in Norway, my first thought was that the perp was a right-winger, given that the children of Labour Party members were targeted, along with the government center. What is copied below illustrates the visceral hatred and threats toward Liberals and Democrats that have been increasing on the 'net for months now. I can't believe these guys are stupid enough to post this on a public forum, but I've done screenshots before they get deleted.

From Fox News comments:

Ummm what good does simply voting them out? They will be voted back in 4 or 8 years. They will never leave. This guy has it right. This is what we need here to forever rid ourselves of the left. This guy had the guts to do what we do not.

Now Breivik would know how to deal with leftists,

There are more like him out there and the leftists should be..................................

This guy is not a nut job. I hear all of my fellow conservatives and shake my head. What good does it do us to vote the Liberals out? They will only be voted back in someday. It happens over and over. This guy did what we need to do here. This guy loves his country and people more than we true Americans love ours. Stop trying to cover it up and be nice. This guy did what we all need to do. If we dont then we just pass the problem on to our children. So I ask how for real are you to rid ourselves of the left? Or are you as weak kneed as the Liberals you say to hate?

Conservatives and T-Pots really need to take a closer look at their members.

One of my children has ADD, which started creating problems for him in school by the 5th grade. We put him in three different charter schools and the district's alternative learning center. Although, we (obviously) weren't happy with the mainstream public school for him, the charter schools were all much worse. One was OK, but not a great fit for him. The other two were extremely disorganized and one of the three seemed to be primarily an ego-trip for the school principal and eventually went bankrupt.

No doubt, there are decent charter schools out there. However, I wish we had just left him in the public schools, where the resources available to deal with ADD were actually greater than in the charter schools. He ended up getting a GED before his class graduated and had excellent test scores, which I attribute to the good foundation he received in his public elementary school.

If the Rethugs have their way, education will become a privilege instead of a right.

I was explaining to my 18 year old this morning the incredible societal changes I've seen in my lifetime. Remembering seeing newscasts as a child in the '60's, of civil rights marches in Birmingham and Selma. Being aware of the racism expressed in my own Northern city. Being part of the second wave of Feminism. Living in S.F. during the Harvey Milk years and the blossoming of the GLBT movement. I informed my son that I remembered when single women couldn't get a mortgage in their own names and when NO ONE would ever speak of being gay or lesbian (that part earned a "Wow!").

When Obama was sworn in, I suddenly had a feeling of lightness and took a deep, relaxed breath. It's a great day! A great, great day!

they think any messing about with human cells, embryos, blastocysts, whatever is playing god, unless it results in the birth of a perfect white baby.

CLONING, is what really freaks them out. My daughter (with Type 1 diabetes) and I were demonstrating against Bush when he was here last fall. She was holding a sign that said, "Support Stem Cell Research," and as the Bushites came streaming out of the arena they were very rude to her, including one woman who blew cigarette smoke directly into her face (she was 12 at the time). One Rethuglican woman and her young daughter approached us and started, in a very patronizing tone, to question what I knew about stem cell research. After a couple of exchanges, she said, "Well, you know it's CLONING!" Soon after, I ended the conversation by saying, "When YOUR child develops diabetes, then come talk to me!"

As far as the politicians, you are absolutely right. It's a wedge issue useful for pandering to the Christian right-wing crazies.
