Since Bobby Kennedy is so much in DU's thoughts these days, it felt good to find this again and just listen.

One of the young organizers who talks in this video about organizing in PA is the same Ashley, I believe, that Obama referenced right at the end of his speech on race relations, "A More Perfect Union." (The moment when he discusses where one elderly African-American man says he's there to support Obama because of people like Ashley.) Pretty cool she's working for Obama. Her story is a powerful one. And this is a neat look at Obama's ground campaign and philosophy of organizing.

I think I posted this about a year ago ... but I think it's a good song to listen to now and again .... especially as we near 4,000 U.S. troops dead. It's great blues, isn't it?

"They call this a war on terror, I see a lot of civilians dying."

Interesting analysis from Cenk Uygur at The Young Turks, breaking down cost expenditures of the Obama and Clinton campaigns. Boils down to Clinton taking the establishment strategy and Obama taking the 50-state strategy route.

Back into the killing fields as soldiers spend longer and longer in Iraq. This is a BBC report. Says the wife of one soldier: "Now I just feel like it's just being dragged on ... and our boys need to be brought home, and I mean right now I just feel like we're standing in the middle of their civil war."

Very raw footage of what's happening in Burma. According to the youtube profile, it's a 17 year old in Myanmar posting this vid and others (this is the last one, a day ago). Sounds of shots, chanting, and people running. More here: http://www.youtube.com/user/JUVENILEBIRDS .

Refugees describe the horrific conditions at a Jordanian refugee camp. When we think about the wider damages from the war and occupation in Iraq, this is it too.

Naomi Klein gives a pretty spot-on analysis of the new economy model BushCo has fashioned around prepping us for disaster (through the use of shock, which "radical free-marketeers," to use her words, exploit), and then takes that analysis back into the '80s and '90s. Interesting stuff.

Glyendale Stevenson talks about her teenage son wading in Katrina waters in New Orleans and trying to survive after the storm. Part of a great ACLU video series posted on Youtube. Check out the other ones too.

On Olbermann's show, Keith discusses the incredible way Stickler (heading up the "rescue" and in charge of mine safety in the U.S.) landed his position. He points out coal mining deaths declined from 1926 until last year when 48 coal miners died(largest percentage increase in 107 years). "Shafting Miners" indeed. Arianna Huffington points out the shoddy, one-dimensional work by the media. "Can't the media cover two stories at once," she asks, referring to the rescue and oversight failure.
