Background: the First Brigade of the Third Infantry Division, three to four thousand soldiers, has been deployed in the United States as of October 1. Their stated mission is the form of crowd control they practiced in Iraq, subduing "unruly individuals," and the management of a national emergency. I am in Seattle and heard from the brother of one of the soldiers that they are engaged in exercises now. Amy Goodman reported that an Army spokesperson confirmed that they will have access to lethal and non lethal crowd control technologies and tanks.

by supporting this bailout of Wall Street. I'm going to write in "SpongeBob Squarepants", call it a year, and hope for better in 2012.

And she opened by remarking on McCain's not wanting to debate, and that she hoped that Obama would press forward with insisting that the debate go on.

So much for McSame's housewife base.

White women now favor McCain over Obama 53 to 41 - so I have to ask my European-blooded sisters: WTF ARE YOU THINKING??? Or aren't you??

I just don't get it. I don't. If you're not a Christian extremist, what is it? Racism? Stupidity?

Tell me, how does a minivan-driving soccermom from the 'burbs "relate" to a woman who carries a gun and pays men a bounty to drop the bloodied appendages of wild animals at her feet like some unholy sacrificial tribute? Do you ladies have a burning, secret fantasy of playing the dominatrix, and are trying to live that kink vicariously through Sarah Palin? The fantasy is ok - really! Just grab your AmEx, jump into the Voyager, head over to your local strip-mall "fantasy shop", purchase a set of restraints and a flogger or two. Then, when hubby gets home from his busy day at the office, tie him up and spank the daylights out of him - but please, please DON'T vote for McCain/Palin. Ok? (I thank you - and so will your hubby.)

Homebuilders fined for polluting Ga. waterways
Sweeping federal probe found violations at 71 of state's construction sites

By STACY SHELTON
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Published on: 06/12/08

Four of the nation's largest homebuilders agreed Wednesday to pay $4.3 million in fines for allegedly polluting streams and lakes with dirt from their construction sites carried in stormwater runoff.

Seventy-one of the sites were in Georgia. Muddy runoff is among the biggest threats to the state's rivers and lakes. It also harms wildlife and vegetation dependent on those waterways, including fish and river otters.

both parties are tied to the corporate-owned MSM, because the most corporate-friendly candidate wins. The corporations will choose our President, and in November it will look like this:

McCain vs. Clinton (either acceptable to big-business), or
McCain/Clinton vs. Obama.

They won't allow Obama to win. He is not beholden to the corporate god.

Just like they didn't let eco-friendly Al Gore win.

Come November, we will put on our flag pins, and drive to our polling place, where they let us hold elections. And then we will return home, feeling like we had a choice, like we made a difference and we did our patriotic duty; now we can just kick back and tune in to the latest episode of "American Idol". Gosh, you just never know what that crazy Paula Abdul is going to do next!

According to my calculations, the gas tax "holiday" would save me $23.76 over 12 weeks.

That works out to $1.98 a week.

Or, .28 cents per day.

I am a single working mom, just getting by and hardly an elitist - and I am insulted by the crumbs that working folk like me are expected to grovel and be thankful for.

(Queen Hillary, you want that I should kiss your ring? Sorry, but you can kiss my... nevermind.)

It's about context - not about being an elitist, or being "ungrateful". It was a brilliant political stunt by McCain and the Repugs: They knew that the MSM zombies would lap it up - "Oooo gas-tax holiday! Yay! Go McCain!" - thus causing a divide between people related to money (the classic "class-warfare" card), and it worked. But not in their wildest wet dreams did the Repugs imagine one of the Democratic candidates jumping on the bandwagon with McCain, causing further strife within the Democratic party itself. Look at some of us here, calling each other "elitists" over $30! It IS just $30 lousy dollars, and again, I am a single working mother of two young children, nowhere near wealthy, and while $30 does matter to me - it doesn't make a damn difference to the big picture, or my financial bottom-line. If the TRUE elitists want to impress me, save me money by coming up with a healthcare plan where I can afford the copays for office visits and medications; save me money by permanently and forever closing the money-sucking drain that is Iraq; help that soldier's widow and his children not with $30, but with free quality healthcare, and give that soldier's children automatic college scholarships (their FATHER just DIED for YOUR war, assholes, so he's not going to be around to pay for college); that widow shouldn't have to be "thankful" because she can buy some groceries for just ONE month, because of John McCain and his future VP Hillary's "largesse". Do you all see what I'm saying??? I am not asking for a gov't handout, but if the gov't is going to "help" me and others like me, then come up with some long-term solutions that will make a long-term and meaningful difference!

(ok.. sorry 'bout the rant, but the more I think about this matter, the more hella-pissed I am getting...)

Back to my numbers:

.28 cents won't pay for a call from a payphone, or a postage stamp.
$1.98 won't buy a gallon of milk, or one hot school lunch for one child ($2.50). I have two children, and no, we don't qualify for the free-lunch program.
$23.76 won't fill even my tiny little Toyota's tank - not even once.

Meanwhile, that .28 cents per day that I'm "saving" will cause the already crumbling roads in Michigan to crumble further due to lack of "road funding" (though the US can "rebuild Iraq"), and I'll probably wind up spending far more than $23.76 to fix a tire on my car after meeting with a pothole in the pavement.

That's what I'm talking about. Not elitist - f*cking realist.
