what's so great about him. i know everyone hates hil, but just tell me what i have to be happy about. i watch him, i listen, i've been to the website, i don't get it. the question is serious, i'm not being snarky.
On edwards on fighting corporate america: 'Fantasy and empty promises' (made me chuckle cuz it sounds like 'fairy tale' and 'false hope'). 'he can't do anything about corporate america'
Reporter: what about obama? "foolish' and 'dangerous cuz he doesn't even know he can't do anything, i'd rather hillary, at least she knows what she's talking about...even edwards knows more than him" on Obama's "speeches and rhetoric": "just raising expectations of the youth" Ouch. "make a speech and say change 10x..but what are you gonna do?" On Hillary: actually, the reporter didn't get around to her again, but in the past gravel's gone off on her. then said they're all hyprocrites and politics as usual. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCNz2vkm9_Y saying she's so smart, and warm and witty, but she's too scared to show it b/c sometimes her wit can be wicked and she's concerned about how that might come out on tv.
totally makes sense. it's always funny to hear things that roll off her tongue when she's more relaxed. just thought i'd share that for some reason. lol. ![]() He's saying she's going to lose NH, and SC but she's ok after that, she's still totally in it. (although he had no illusions on where the momentum was at and who had game). and although that is not that point at ALL. the point it that he just made history, so they used the full name. Tweety, who is in LOVE with Barack, did the exact same thing when he made the announcement.
Barack is a new comer, they're just announcing his arrival. it's OK. And people need to get used to knowing that it is his name, they will get over it. it's not a dirty word. They don't use it on a regular basis, it was a monumental moment that he won iowa. its OK -"Do you want to come over to our side?"
-"Well, I'm really for Obama, i think he's what we need" -"but in terms of experience.... -"Abe lincoln had the same amount of experience" -"but he got shot". LMAO
Criticisms by candidates towards each other are expected to increase, are we all going to freak out?
Someone on MSNBC just mentioned after IOWA ends criticisms btwn candidates tend to increase, and the niceties of IA will end. Are we all going to be able to handle it, or is everyone going to start calling the candidates (Hillary especially) Rovian?
I get the feeling he might win. and he wins the nom, he'll definitely win the GE. But on a personal level i am so not into him. I know that doesn't matter, i know it's not important, but i just canNOT get into the guy. Hil, Biden, Edwards, Dodd, yes. Would love to watch them for the next 4 years. But Obama so far, listening to him, just really not into him at all, i'm kinda put off. Any chance he'll grow on me? I'm sure he's an awesome guy, but he just doesn't 'turn me on' in any way. Anyone else here used to be put off by him grew to like him?
hopeful not too many flames, obviously i'm not putting the guy down, it's just a personal reaction. -Someone linked a great video of Michelle talking about Obama. it was great. one of the first times i sorta said to myself, this could be a really good thing.
-a couple of intellectual posts by people to me about Obama really got me thinking about some great reasons to support him -the right-wing's disgusting smears and hatred of hillary make me fear having to hear them froth at the mouth if she wins, and i fear the echo already repeated by independents and supposed democrats -the "progressive" crybaby's make me want him to just win so i can stop hearing their mouths -kerrey's comment about his middle name and muslim background, (and the argument of his living abroad) and how it could help unite really got me thinking about what that could do to bridge gaps btwn the U.S. and the Muslim population/world. -ideas about how a new candidate, so new and not yet vilified because of his short history in the spotlight could be someone that could unite the nation -things i don't like about my favored candidate, things i can't STAND about the past decisions of my favored candidates previous administrations decisions All these things are in the back of my mind when I think of why I like Obama for pres... but it's never Obama himself. I see him, I listen up, i move in close to the tv until I can't stand it anymore (which, btw, is usually about 10 seconds, lol) And that's not to say all of the encouraging reasons won't hold, or won't become true if he were to become president, but it also gives me great pause that he has not, possibly even once, stirred me to happily switch the switch for Barack. (thank goodness it's really not up to me, that I am just one vote in NYState, or I would continue to have to rack my brain. this way I can just vote in November for whoever the Dem nominee is, and think, whatever will be will be) Even though I love hil and want her to win, if Hillary loses the 3 early states, that just says to me she doesn't have what it takes. If she loses to someone who is pretty much uninspiring to me (Barack), then I need to realize that I am of another era and move on.
I'm almost 35, so I was 18 that's when i was introduced to Hillary. As a female I loved how independent she was, i loved her cookie comment, i loved her child advocacy past, the 2 for 1 attitude (and Bill was awesome). The stuff that people hated about Hillary, i loved, to me she was a hero, she was bad-ass. And I loved Bill until he did a few things that upset me. But I still loved her, and to me she was independent and fierce. (and a bit bitchy, which i like). But to younger people now she may not come across like that. Now she's 60 and people who are 18 now probably see her differently, and women now might be even more independent than I was then, even though to me they don't seem it. So it's a new generation now, it the kids future ahead of them (and by kids i mean 18-30). They like Barack, it's their future and they deserve a president who's going to shape their world. and now for the plus side if she doesn't win, i won't have to watch one of my favorite people get torn apart from the people on the left and the people on the right. i'm tired of people hating on her and the clinton's (yes, i still really like Bill). So maybe it's good the politics will get a fresh start with a new person with little history. Granted, that fresh start didn't work for Bill, his first 100 days were an onslaught of hatred from republicans, but people seem to believe Barack can transcend that somehow, so I won't begrudge him if he wins. And another silver lining, I won't have to fret all year over what happens, because Barack seems like he can take care of himself. With Hillary I feel so protective, and it would be so important to me that I would feel the need to work so hard to campaign for her. With Barack, he's got his supporters, I'm sure he'll pull through just fine. And I bet young republicans will vote for him, so I won't have to work doubly hard to make up for all the hil haters who will come to vote against her. If she doesn't win, and she doesn't become president, I will be sad as hell. I'll know she would have done such a good job. But I'm sure Barack will be fine if he becomes the president (and may have some pluses in some international healing sort of way), and I won't have to worry about it. And that was me making peace with it in advance. |
