Axollot's Journal
little soldiers. For many reasons. I was so angry at the NYTs editorial it ran yesterday that I not only wrote the author, but a piece on a website that I do some assistant editing. Please forgive my mistakes made in haste- most of it was written this morning while on first cup of coffee, but the letter is located there too written yesterday (also on first cup) LOL.
http://www.worldwidehippies.com/2011/10/05... / Living in chronic pain is frustrating enough without having bogus articles written by the NYT claiming patients are committing fraud and prescription drug abuse all funded with Medicare. Anyone that is a CPP patient knows how hard it is to get treated with respect by a doctor. The link to the NYT editorial is also at link. Cheers Sandy ![]() Turn on the sound and listen to and view this: http://inmotion.magnumphotos.com/essay/che... It's about the children of Belarus who - *STILL TODAY* are coming in with birth defects like nothing ever seen before. It's open and honest. Another site to check out is www.fairewinds.com/updates that link has some plain language information about Fukushima from a man who is licensed to run BWR like the 6 at Fukushima. Remember only 1 reactor had a problem in Chernobyl and many died years later - the numbers listed are "first responder" deaths. Yes the Japanese have kept things out of the media or they muddy the information by coming out with numbers than turning around and changing them and all along saying "nothing to see here" - at the fairewinds link start with the last video at the bottom of the page and work your way up. It will help build an emerging picture of this disaster unfolding before our eyes. It's much worse than they want folks to think and clearly it's working! (btw Arn Gundersen from Faire Winds has scooped the media weeks before on every 'revelation' - he knew this would go level 7 weeks before it became official, he knew about how the water was leaking and why again weeks before the media. So give him a shot - he doesnt cause folks to panic, he actually explains it all very well but you'll quickly understand this is much worse than they are letting on - mostly for the Japanese people and their closest neighbors) Cheers Sandy

Recent press reports have discussed the possibility that Fukushima Unit 1 may be having a nuclear chain reaction. New data released by TEPCO indicates that even though Fukushima Unit 1 was shut down during the March 11 earthquake (video link above) Transcript for all videos available at link below - transcript for above link's video is not up yet - video is very new. Highly rec all videos @ www.fairewinds.com/updates by Arnie Gundersen to be viewed - start w/most recent update then view all videos from the start - to get real, not sensationalized information we all have been looking for regrading the reactors in Fukushima Japan. ~Cheers Sandy. He hasnt hacked anything. I know you know this from your posts, but it's important for the many here that want to see him dead that they have their info correct. Assange's computer ability has not been used to 'GET' info but to share it!

snip As a lawyer and citizen I find this most disturbing, particularly so when a brief perusal of the Commonwealth Criminal Code shows that liability arises under the Espionage provisions, for example, only when it is the Commonwealth's "secrets" that are disclosed and that there must be intent to damage the Commonwealth. Likewise under Treason law, there must be an intent to assist an enemy. Clearly, and reinforced by publicly available material such as Professor Saul's excellent article: http://www.theage.com.au/opinion/society-a... ... ...Julian Assange has almost certainly committed no crime under Australian law in relation to his involvement in Wikileaks. snip Please view these letters in full from link. Great to know someone in Australia's legal system supports Julian Assange. Cheers sandy

Sit down for this rubbish.
In its first months in office, the Obama administration sought to protect Bush administration officials facing criminal investigation overseas for their involvement in establishing policies the that governed interrogations of detained terrorist suspects. A "confidential" April 17, 2009, cable sent from the US embassy in Madrid to the State Department—one of the 251,287 cables obtained by WikiLeaks—details how the Obama administration, working with Republicans, leaned on Spain to derail this potential prosecution. The previous month, a Spanish human rights group called the Association for the Dignity of Spanish Prisoners had requested that Spain's National Court indict six former Bush officials for, as the cable describes it, "creating a legal framework that allegedly permitted torture." The six were former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales; David Addington, former chief of staff and legal adviser to Vice President Dick Cheney; William Haynes, the Pentagon's former general counsel; Douglas Feith, former undersecretary of defense for policy; Jay Bybee, former head of the Justice Department's Office of Legal Counsel; and John Yoo, a former official in the Office of Legal Counsel. The human rights group contended that Spain had a duty to open an investigation under the nation's "universal jurisdiction" law, which permits its legal system to prosecute overseas human rights crimes involving Spanish citizens and residents. Five Guantanamo detainees, the group maintained, fit that criteria. snip And the MONEY QUOTE On April 15, Sen. Mel Martinez (R-Fla.), who'd recently been chairman of the Republican Party, and the US embassy's charge d'affaires met with the acting Spanish foreign minister, Angel Lossada. The Americans, according to this cable, "underscored that the prosecutions would not be understood or accepted in the US and would have an enormous impact on the bilateral relationship" between Spain and the United States. Here was a former head of the GOP and a representative of a new Democratic administration (headed by a president who had decried the Bush-Cheney administration's use of torture) jointly applying pressure on Spain to kill the investigation of the former Bush officials. Lossada replied that the independence of the Spanish judiciary had to be respected, but he added that the government would send a message to the attorney general that it did not favor prosecuting this case. http://motherjones.com/politics/2010/12/wi... Cheers Sandy they recently scooped up is UNION MADE - FAIR WAGE products. My husband works for them. This hurts us to boycott the paper company (which is one of thousands of company's they have) as it's the only job around Central Florida that pays a decent fair wage. I hate Koch but support Union made AMERICAN MADE products. We stand by that when it comes to buying other products too. Our Ford was made in MI the parts from all over but fully assembled in MI and transported by train.
Think before one reacts! I supported the people who owned the little BP station - I just didnt buy their GAS - but bought milk, bread etc. They purchase those items locally and spend that money locally. There has to be a better way - they could close our little factory where hubby works and still be the insane billionaires that they are without blinking an eye. Cheers Sandy in tears of the thought of hubby losing job. I'm disabled and we are only 1 pay check from the street.

refusing to answer questions to local media regarding their presence and/or support. (leaving and entering through side doors) Not out of the ordinary to have local police participating in church services but would question the ability of any officer to do their job properly if they support this trash. Ya know this is where we Democrats fail when framing the debate - because this DOES *NOT* Support our Troops as the RW mantra likes to pretend, yet while the RW are silent - we should be VERY LOUD about the disgusting display going on here and stick it to the Republicans that have incubated this hatred to the point of putting our troops in danger. Sadly, the Afghani people do not know that this church is some little no nothing that has no say in the US. Much like radical Muslims have no say in the greater Muslim community world wide. It's true that the Republicans have politically painted themselves into a corner - though. And that's fantastic. Anyone catch that there are Republicans trying to recruit homeless folks on a Green ticket to split the Democratic vote?! Now more than ever we need to stand behind our Democrats and the Independents that caucus with them. I'm as upset as anyone else here regarding *some* of the direction the Democrats have gone but *NEVER* do I think McCain and Palin would have done a better job. It would be Hoover-ville all over again today with them in control. However, I can see many Independent/Swing (even some traditional Democrats), voting for an alternative Green - and it sure would be nice to have a stronger 3rd party but not like this nor putting in puppets for the sole purpose to split the vote. I think they are starting to really realize how badly they've damaged their party politically with their Tea-laban Party and want something to distract upset voters that wont vote for a Republican backed "Talibornagain" candidate. It's sad when I have to remind people that a Muslim C/C a couple of blocks from "Ground Zero" is a huge part of what America is all about, whether one likes it or not. Freedom to and the right for everyone to practice their religion, freedom to not practice any religion and freedom from a "State" Religion. Many Muslims died that day that were not terrorists. Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus - people of all faiths, atheists, agnostics etc all died that day. The most "unAmerican" thing one could do is to argue that Muslim Americans are some how less American. (gag - I do not like that term "unAmerican" - imho anyone considered a citizen is an American - a sentiment we on DU all share) Is that a road we should go down? We have papers please in Arizona - we know they don't go after companies that hire illegals under the worst working conditions. AZ legislators and the entire CONServative 'thug party arent serious about the issue of illegal immigration at all. They are serious about making money - and the big private prison that would house these "illegals". We know that the goal of all companies is to make more profit than the last quarter/year whatever. So what kind of care are prisoners in private prisons getting? Yes they deserve to be treated like humans regardless of their crime - cruel and unusual punishment is illegal too. This money trail can be found linking back always to these prisons. Who lobbied for the 3 strikes law? Private run prisons. Who lobbies for min sentences on non violent crime? It's the same over and over the money trail leads back. Prisoners also are the largest manufacturing base in the United States! Slave labour under a new name. Kill the schools, kill any kind of program that helps lift people out of poverty, and make more prisoners. Why non violent felons having their name stained after their sentence only sends these guys back to jail - unable to make it - do to their past. All while letting violent criminals and serious sexual offenders out early. (cheaper to house and control the non-violent ones). If we do not stop the insane corporate take over of this country we will become more like Chili -Sharron Angle- and the rest of the bought and paid for corrupt politicians. The answer to save these United States - END CORPORATE ELECTION FINANCING - CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM AND ENDING CORPORATE PERSON-HOOD!! Sorry to really go on a rant! It wasnt all directed at your post obviously but the mention the "witch hunt" is really where we are at in this country. All the way down to torture and death if found guilty (with bs evidence) or no trial at all for US Citizens - sent to Guantanamo. All separate but connected issues. Terror babies (ty Anderson for mocking it the other day as it was deserved) is something that they tried to scare the boomers with since the boomers were in school it was all spy vs spy with Russia. They were told to be afraid of Russians and that Russians were infiltrating the US, raised as American children to carry out evil deeds when adults. This is a way for the birthers to justify their Obama story to try to retro-actively make everything he's done invalid(and he has done a lot even tho it's not enough). I think the boomers are sick of "being warned to go under their desks" (24/7 fear) though, there may be some still falling for it. But many more people are waking up. Big /RANT OFF!! Cheers Sandy

by the assholes at Blackwater/Xe (there are online lists that show who has had the training) are the most brutal officers with the most human right/civil right violations; police brutality charges etc. It's time that our police stop receiving this sort of brutal training, cover ups etc (New Orleans during Katrina for example Blackwater trained/up-trained). Sad. This has been coming for sometime and if not stopped will come to a county near you soon. (if not already) Cheers Sandy

at the moment they have most Americans working their bums off (if they have a job) just to keep up. Min Wage should have been 10 an hour a decade ago. I was in Australia as I watched congress in the 90's over and over give themselves a pay raise but not touch minimum wage. Who were they? Mostly the GOP!
We lose our democracy the moment we lose our educated middle class - and that is exactly what they want. Cannot fight or protest if you are to busy trying to survive and to afraid of losing your job. Sad state of affairs that isnt getting any better until Corporate money is removed from our elections and when corporations are no longer considered individuals that can do whatever they like from murder to eco-terrorism. As long as they have the $$ to buy themselves out of jail. /rant off Cheers sandy

Source: NY Times - Reuters
The Wachovia Bank, a unit of Wells Fargo, has agreed to pay $160 million to settle a federal criminal case accusing it of laundering Mexican drug money, Reuters reports. Under the agreement, Wachovia will forfeit $110 million, representing the proceeds of illegal narcotics sales that were laundered through the bank, the United States attorney’s office in the Southern District of Florida said. The bank will pay an additional $50 million fine to the Treasury Department. Read more: http://dealbook.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/03/... / With all the violence due to these cartels 160 Mil isnt enough. Since corps are people then someone needs to be in jail for this crime. Disgusting. Cheers Sandy <quote> "It's a sad day that while we remember Pearl Harbor we also remember our country is still entrenched in the Middle East guaranteeing more death and destruction of human lives, just not on US soil. (easier to live with that way -probably easier on the Japanese citizens during WWII when Pearl Harbor was Shock and Awed too)
The previous administration messed up Afghanistan, but can we not get out of Iraq, Sir? Can we not focus on important Domestic Policy, like a Public Option? Is there any campaign promise besides finishing the job in Afghanistan that can be kept? Any campaign promise at all? As a registered Democrat, but proud Liberal that worked very hard to get you elected, tell Rahm Emmanuel WE ARE YOUR BASE! (insulting for him to say that Democrats have no base! What are we the people that took to the polls then if not your base?!?) It gets a little disheartening to see even **smaller things like "Don't ask Don't tell" to not get repealed! I'll remember Pearl Harbor but not forget our troops currently dieing overseas another holiday season for no clear reason. " <end quote> I do still support our President but take issue with other things going on in his administration. It's important to remember it's always OK to disagree with the President. Remember, when the Right agreed blindly in * that caused us on the Left to rip our hair out? I'll continue to support the President but will never stop trying to hold his feet to the fire on campaign promises and issue that effect "Main Street"! Thanks for hearing me vent! Cheers Sandy (**does not equal insignifigant or not important) ...in the US - and get suckered into voting in vipers to run these beautiful mountains into the ground, literally. Mountain top mining like they do here for coal is a double edged sword. They keep these folks in a cycle of poverty, relying on jobs that utilize coal, while at the same time allowing their backyards to become toxic. If ever there was clear-cut evidence that the poor of this country are abused and used. What is happening to the people of the Appalachian area is proof, undeniable.
Cheers Happy 4 July (irony) Sandy

......BTW as a patient on oxycontin and a resident of Florida it really offends me that he got off scott free with his outrageously blatant and easily proven doctor shopping. Having myself been *wrongly* accused, locked up in cuffs *at* my doctors office then put into the squad car for 4hours while they tried to find where i might have filled 2 narcotics scripts from a different doctor within a single month (I didn't, however, did have to see a diff doctor for a test for ssdi paperwork and found out that doc was under investigation - that is what got me into that mess). I was (even tho the detective *did* tell my old doctor I was innocent and it would only be proper to fill my meds for that month even if discharged) made to go cold turkey until I found another doctor (who, despite being a wing nut is a fantastic doc)with no back up, which can be life threatening - our local hospital wouldn't help me either and I was trying to get checked into the mental health/drug detox ward etc and refused due to no beds and they had the nerve to treat me like some idiot drug seeker when I just needed help until I found a new doctor! (Thank god for understanding family and good ol' herbal supplements). So I have a very particular anger with OxyRush - people like him make it somtimes/almost impossible for people like myself to get proper treatment. Legit pain patients always end up screwed over as junkies like that asshole put a street value on meds some of us need to live!

last 24 hours. HI!
Ok, so I just stopped working (thank you lovey hubby!) so I can go back to school full time. I have to start all over again, because my HS GED Eqv. in Australia as well as my Associates in Business (done at the same private and small college) were destroyed by my cat no less during a move. Those were my copies obviously. I have had no luck replacing them either *sigh*. Sooo...I get to start all over from the beginning. The ultimate goal will be going to go into nursing school, after I prove myself worthy of course. Doing only the LPN (13 months) so my hubby and I will be able to afford a bigger home in a better 'hood. We are not talking opulence OK? After I am settled in my new career, Hubby is off to finish college himself - for Constitutional Law, no less. He is a former union organizer - the pay is crap though - his current job is Union and he is a shop steward. BUY GEORGIA PACIFIC PAPER PRODUCTS!! Like Brawny, Angel Soft and all other GP products. They are union, a weak local (for our factory) sadly, but still union AND they pay a decent living wage too (est. avg. is $20 - $25 an hour in FLORIDA - Amazing)! (disclaimer: he is only a lowly worker, not mngmt or as I call them corporate whores. Disclaimer ll: I know not all mngmt are corporate whores so light your flames on someone else) OK, enough rambling, grammatical and spelling mistakes for now. Since I will have extra time (full time school here is hardly full time!) I am going to make an attempt to do a journal - PLEASE keep all jokes and giggling to yourselves Thanks in advance! cheers, -Axie Visitor Tools
