“The price of greatness is responsibility.“ -Winston Churchill What health care might be coming down to. (Original post at http://lesterandcharlie.wordpress.com/2011... /) ![]() Sen. Al Franken set up a "secret Santa" for the U.S. Senate and we'll all know who got what on December 12th. But in the meantime, it makes you think ... if you were in the Senate and drew the name of a Republican, what would you get the person? ( Original poll at http://lesterandcharlie.wordpress.com/2011... / ) Thought Rick Perry was history? Don't count him out of the race just yet. Turns out there's a mastermind behind Perry's mind. And an actual method to all his ... madness. Well, at the very least, there's only one plausible explanation for this candidate, and this is it. ( Original post at: http://lesterandcharlie.wordpress.com/2011... / ) We don’t know if it’s the the steroids, the wish bone or something slowly released by the pop-up timer, but every year something in Thanksgiving turkeys make Americans go on a wild spending spree the next day. Well, there was the pepper spray incident, of course: http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/articl... But there was also Barack Obama's 10% off sale on campaign 2012 stickers and magnets. What's it mean when when POTUS has a sale on the busiest shopping day of the year? Is that a secret signal that things are worse than we thought? Is it tacky? Or is it a strong sign that he's more of a capitalist than people give him credit for? What's your opinion? (Original post at: http://lesterandcharlie.wordpress.com/2011... / ) HAPPY THANKSGIVING! That's what this turkey-craving family seen in a video from the government archives is having. No food? No problem! God bless America! (Part 5 in an ongoing investigation into what made the 1950s so special that the GOP wants to bring us back to it. Original post at http://lesterandcharlie.wordpress.com/2011... / ) From an outside site - and worth taking a moment to listen to and think: Newt Gingrich is calling for the end of child labor laws. Herman Cain says unemployment is the fault of the unemployed. Wisconsin is trying to recall its anti-labor governor. Congress can’t decide on anything because of some sick lobbyist’s pledge letter. American military action continues – and people continue to die – for wars that didn’t need to happen. And the middle class is almost extinct. And in our back yards, people of all ages are rising against the machine – and getting pepper sprayed for simply sitting down and having an opinion. There’s a challenge going on between the sane and insane. This has happened before. But this time, we’re missing something. The music. C’mon, guys. We need to give this movement called Occupy Wall Street a soundtrack – or, according to history, it will be dead in the water and forgotten. Joan Baez, Willie Nelson, David Crosby and countless others have taken their guitars to OWS gatherings and gave plenty of examples. So we’re asking protesters to start their music. (Original post at http://lesterandcharlie.wordpress.com/2011... / ) ![]() After reaffirming the national motto and deciding that pizza is a vegetable, Congress did something really out of character by voting against states' rights: It turns out the GOP only cares about states’ rights when it furthers their psychotic agenda. To prove it, the House passed legislation that repeals any state’s right to enforce its laws about concealed weapons on interstate travelers. The bill asserts that California and New York (to name just two examples) have no business enforcing gun-control laws if they infringe on the rights of someone from, say, Utah, to traipse around Brooklyn or San Fran with a concealed weapon licensed by a state with notoriously lax gun-control laws. See, states’ rights can go to hell if a vote jeopardizes a Congressperson’s standing with the NRA. An outside poll asks what we'll be able to conceal between state next: Weapons of mass destruction? Your 14-year-old sister/girlfriend? What do you think? ( Original post at: http://lesterandcharlie.wordpress.com/2011... / ) ![]() From and outside poll: Humiliating the poor has become a true sport for conservatives. Whether it’s Herman Cain telling 17 million unemployed Americans that if they don’t have jobs they have no one to blame but themselves, or the Republican governor of Maine adding his state to the growing list of states that want to require anyone applying for welfare benefits to submit to a drug test, or Mississippi becoming the 31st state to adopt stringent voter I.D. laws designed to suppress the votes of people less likely to have drivers’ licenses (how many millionaires take the bus?) — the GOP message is clear: Poor people are of no importance. So why shouldn’t they think they can have a little fun at their expense? We know what they've done so far for their shits and giggles. What do you think is next? - Government cheese will only come in Limburger? - Any unemployed woman applying for a job must be groped by Herman Cain? - Seats on all public transportation will be replaced with whoopie cushions? Pretend to be a Republican in today's environment ... What evil plan would YOU have up your sleeve? What's next? ( Original poll at http://lesterandcharlie.wordpress.com/2011... / ) You might think you've heard it all by now... But newly uncovered video indicates that Herman Cain had an interesting career before entering the business world. ( Original post at: http://lesterandcharlie.wordpress.com/2011... / ) Clips of a 1%-er living her day. We all fear and fight them - but what are they really like? Original post at http://lesterandcharlie.wordpress.com/2011... In part 4 of our ongoing investigation that asks Why the GOP wants to bring us back to the 1950s? we learned some real power tips from the Reagans. Conserving energy is fun! ( Original post at: http://lesterandcharlie.wordpress.com/2011... / ) The 99 Percenters say that they’re the majority, but Wall St. and Washington are saying that corporations are the majority. Which is it? And can America survive while we decide? It's time for the greedy to start respecting the needy. ( Original post at http://lesterandcharlie.wordpress.com/2011... / ) ![]() "Only after the last tree has been cut down, only after the last river has been poisoned, only after the last fish has been caught, only then will you find money cannot be eaten." ~ Cree Prophecy ( Original post at http://lesterandcharlie.wordpress.com/2011... / ) The GOP is determined to bring America back to one of their favorite decades, rather than improving the current one. And they seem quite fond of the 1950s. So for those of you don't remember it first hand, here's a quick glimpse into that era. Let those good times roll! (Original post at: http://lesterandcharlie.wordpress.com/2011... / ) The GOP thinks America's best decades are behind it. And they're pretty fixated on bringing us back to the 1950s. So just how swell were things back then? Here's another glimpse from the GOP Time Machine. Today's topic: Product Safety. ( Original post at http://lesterandcharlie.wordpress.com/2011... / ) |
