It's as if his entire life was calibrated toward this moment. From the instant he entered the Senate in 1975, as a young ex-Prosecutor, Pat Leahy has had a passion for investigating and revealing corruption, and holding the perpetrators accountable.

In the eighties he was one of the main players in the Senate in the investigation of Iran-Contra. He was, in fact, damn near prescient about it.

Senator Leahy has been one of the chief proponents of Sunshine laws and open government. Recently, he's introduced both the War Profiteering Prevention Act and the Public Corruption Prosecution Act. He's been leading the fight in the Senate to restore Habeas Corpus.

For years now, while in the minority, Leahy and his staff have been investigating Halliburton and others. He's outraged over their abuses, and determined to have a full accounting.

He's outraged by what the administration has done to this country, and he won't let them off the hook. He won't let them slip through his fingers, and he won't be bought. Leahy isn't owned by big oil, or big pharma, or AIPAC. His fealty is to his constituents and the American people.

He's smart, tough and honest. And he's determined as hell.

So go get 'em Senator. A lot of people are counting on you.
