Tue Oct 17th 2006, 09:32 AM Here's a message from the Webb / Moran campaigns. Now is a crucial time for this very close (and very important) Senate seat.
Please make it in sometime soon if you can. And please keep it :kick:ing.
Thanks!

We had a tremendous volunteer surge this past weekend to wrap up our canvassing efforts as we transition into our Get-Out-The-Vote efforts. We will still be making ID calls from the phone banks through the weekend so please be sure to sign up for a shift as this will be our f...

Thu Sep 21st 2006, 10:31 AM Yesterday, both Congressman Moran and Senator Obama spoke at a rally for Jim Webb, the democratic challenger to George "Macaca" Allen, incumbent senator of Virginia. While Senator Obama's appearance gained more media attention, both representatives riled up the crowd.
Congressman Moran said we needed a senator from Virginia who actually is a tough guy, not a guy from Los Angeles who wears cowboy boots. Senator Obama said he "needs help in the Senate" ... he's already figured out the four seat...

Demand that the Senate call for a vote on stem cell research
Exactly one year ago, the U.S. House of Representatives passed legislation to increase public funding for stem cell research. A year later, despite overwhelming public support and a bi-partisan coalition of senators, the religious right has blocked any action on this bill in the Senate, effectively holding America's health hostage. It's time for Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist -- Doctor Frist -- to stop playing politi...

Although I personally believe it's time to start withdrawing troops and to force the Iraqis to reclaim their country, I'm most concerned with the practice that has become so common lately of turning any dissenter into a traitor, a terrorist, or worse.
The sad thing is, those who understand both the successes and failure of military action are those who have been there in the past. It’s a shame that the RNC is willing to demonize brave, strong and thoughtful men for their own political gain.

Tomorrow, Congressman John Murtha, the first Vietnam veteran elected to Congress, will be honored with the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award. In an announcement made in early March, Caroline Kennedy, President of the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation described why this years recipients were chosen.
"Congressman John Murtha and Alberto Mora exemplify the kind of courage my father admired most. …When others were unwilling to do so, each man recognized a moral obligation to speak...

Demand that Senator Frist Keep His Promise
by John Hlinko (StemPAC) May 10, 2006 5:48 PM
Back in the spring of 2005, we started StemPAC to help fight back for stem cell research. Our main goal was to fight for the passage of HR 810 -- a bill that would rescind President Bush's draconian restrictions on this research, restrictions that have needlessly delayed the medical breakthroughs which such research might bring.
As you may rememb...
Politicos have such short memories! I think Hillary Clinton is the Howard Dean of 2008. I actually like Hillary a lot, but she's peaking too soon. Slow and steady wins the race.
Although, one note on edit, Hillary does have to win big NY in the fall, so she is peaking just right for that. Some have claimed she has to get 70 or 80% or it will be a dissapointment (that old expectations game), which I think is a bit of a stretch ... she's a divisive figure everywhere, including in NY.

Mon May 01st 2006, 11:35 AM Bob Kerrey sent out this e-mail of support for John Kerry and his Iraq policy today.
Dear XXXX,
When we were in the Senate together, John Kerry and I shared a lot more than a last name. We both came to public service after having served our country in Vietnam. And that experience caused us to make a fifteen year effort to bring peace to Cambodia, resolve the POW-MIA issue, write a road map to normalization with our former enemy, and follow that road map until a former prisoner of war returned ...

Sun Apr 23rd 2006, 03:50 AM But the public in general seems ready to listen to a leader who will offer a concrete strategy for progress in Iraq.
If someone was against the war at the very beginning, I guess I understand the frustration that Kerry voted to give Bush the power to go to war. But I hate that the original anti-war bunch still uses this vote against him, instead of looking honestly at his record and at what he believes in.
The only "viable" (I don't think it's viable) argument anyone ever makes against Kerry...

Sun Apr 23rd 2006, 03:35 AM The argument that John Kerry was "late" in joining the "anti-war" sentiment is still based on the flip-flopper branding that the Republicans pulled in 2004. Anyone who has studied John Kerry's record on the war would understand that Kerry's current strategy didn't even make sense until Iraq had a government in place. He does not (and did not) advocate "cutting and running", but instead advocates diplomatic and politically based progress in the region. Implementing Kerry's strategy a year ago w...

Published reports say Tunnell joked at an agency he...

Sun Apr 23rd 2006, 12:45 AM It's true...the Republicans know how to manipulate the public and to gain power...obviously. However, recent history tells us that the Republicans don't know how to hang on to it. They always give away the power by wanting it too much. Nixon, Gingrich, now Bush (Bush Bush Bush and Bush). All the troubles Bush has had in the past year are really an abuse of power in the end.
I'd like to think the Democratic Party helped them along. But, really, they did do it to themselves.

Thirty-five years after Massachusetts Sen. John F. Kerry (D) appeared before a Senate committee to call for an end to the war in Vietnam, he defended that decision yesterday in a speech in his home town and linked it to his current insistence on an early drawdown of troops from Iraq.
Kerry, in remarks delivered in Bost...

Kerry to Block Bush Pick for Highways Job

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Former presidential candidate John Kerry said Tuesday he will prevent the former head of Boston's $14.6 billion Big Dig, Richard Capka, from becoming head of the Federal Highway Administration.
"I'm afraid Richard Capka could be the Brownie of highways," Kerry said, referring to former Federal Emergency Management Agency chief Michael Brown, who became the sca...

I've heard several people suggest that it would be a brilliant political move to replace Cheney before 2008 because then the Bush administration would be able to appoint whomever they like as VP and the new VP would be an incumbent for the 2008 race.
However, on Sunday morning talk, both George Stephanapolous and Chris Matthews brought this topic up and got a "hell no" from every single guest. Howard Fineman suggested that the legacy of the Bush administration is the future of Iraq and there...

Last night I was at a birthday party and I got into a discussion with another guest at the party, let's call him Larry. Larry is a republican lawyer in DC (although in between jobs right now) and in his late twenties. Larry and I are both friends of the birthday boy, but have never met before.
As often happens at DC birthday parties, the subject of the 2008 election came up. And I thought a couple things Larry said were interesting, especially for a DC republican. This is my assessment of what ...
Listen, I'm not a conspiracy theorist, and I don't think VP Cheney shot his friend on purpose or anything. But the Bush administration has been a little to slick in their timing of press releases in this young week to believe it was just a coincidence. It may be good-old-fashioned media maneuvering, but I think they're hoping we won't notice a couple important pieces of un-flattering news.
This weekend, the White House waited almost an entire day to the release news that Vice President Cheney ...

I'm not familiar with the National Ledger, but I'm assuming this is a right-wing site. Regardless, this report is COMPLETELY IRRESPONSIBLE and it shows up on Google News.
The report mentions that John Kerry "phoned in" the filibuster from Davos, Switzerland, but NEVER even states that he returned last weekend OR that he was on the Senate floor yesterday.
