I tried the argument, for months, that we need a Democrat in the WH. I said repeatedly, sure, I'd like Hillary to win but would vote for the Democrat no matter what. No matter how reasonable I was I was called names and accused of racism. Being non-white, I first found this amusing. Then it just pissed me off. I''m part of a known demographic that actually tends to vote. Telling Hillary supporters their votes aren't needed ensures a loss of millions of Democratic voters. Eight more years of Bush doctrine. Eight more years of dead innocents. I'm not angry any more. I'm just sad.

Until now, I have given him the benefit of the doubt. I realize that his press in the US has been largely negative. So has the press about anyone (including Americans) that disagreed with WH policy. This move for an "Enabling Act" is beyond disturbing. That's the same Act passed by Hitler that gave him dictatorial powers. I can't support any government (or leader) that goes down that road. I have one disclaimer though. Even Kissinger and Bush admit that Iraq is about oil. Venezuela has quite a bit of oil also. Chavez is saying he will nationalize several major industries. This will cut-off many major western companies. If, and I say if, the constitution of Venezuela allows Chavez to do this well....

Iraq has been in a civil war for some time. Isn't it odd that now Dems are in the majority the MSM finally calls it a civil war?

The new MSM meme: How are the Democrats going to end the "civil war" in Iraq?

Just a hunch.

My SO had a relative that was born in 1857 and died in 1977. She was born a slave and remembered the Civil War. She would gather all of the children around her and tell them what slavery was really like. So quickly we forget.

Re: the West Indies: I met a Jamaican who told me that Jamaica did not receive it's Independence from Britain until the late sixties. Not all of the West Indies were immediately freed from "The Tyranny of Empire" despite the outlawing of slavery. See Africa.

The Haitians freed themselves. They're still being punished for that to this day. Look at the murder, mayhem, and rape in Haiti. It was started, once again, by the U.S. and Europe (and their allies) working in concert. Why invade Haiti? Nobody was watching and nobody cared.

Re: the Pelosi flap. Has anyone pointed out that many Republican women are running for office? Why aren't they all home following traditional family values? How dare they speak up on the airwaves? Why the double standard? This is a simple message that any American (particularly the right) could understand.

I'll go toe to toe with you. What parent would approve of (or excuse) this behavior? Your children have my sympathy. You wanna rock and roll? P.S. My husband is right here. You have something to say to him, asshole? Birds of a feather flock together.

Get over yourself. Age doesn't mater. What is it about that that you don't get? A parent is a parent. We parents love our children. This is why america will not succeed. You're more worried about textbook definitions than you are about the health and welfare of someone's child. Where is your heart? You're the sick one here. Your argument isn't based on the pain caused by Foley. It's based on whether or not someone has the exact definition of pedophilia down pat. Grow a soul.

Our society as a whole has decided that a legal adult is 18 years of age. Now those who cite age of consent are being coy. The age of consent (I looked it up) in Florida is 16 for marriage. Any younger and parental consent is required. Unless Foley intended to marry this young man he is at least guilty of sexual harassment (which IS against the law). Of course, if older men coming on to young men who are not emotionally mature doesn't bother you, then don't complain. Apparently this young man was not comfortable with this situation. According to news reports he DID protest. Also, according to news reports, five other pages have come forward. I don't care which party this sick fool comes from. If this doesn't bother you than you're no better than any other predator. If you remember being 16 you're neither mature enough nor experienced enough to say no to an older more powerful figure. Of course this is a society that often blames its victims and says torture is OK.

I raised my hand 28 years ago. What were all the wars and death (both military and civilian) for? I've walked through Arlington and am in awe of the magnitude of the sacrifice. This old vet sits with tears in my eyes and says NO MORE! We have to do this not for ourselves. We have to do this for our children and grandchildren and generations yet unborn. Let them never say about us, where were you? MLK showed us how. With mass media looking on, let them beat us in the streets.Let them render us. Let them make excuses about why torture and rendition are the only options. For those who can't march, ok. It's ok to be afraid. To be afraid for your home, your job, your livelihood. Do whatever you can do as best you can. But FDR said we have nothing to fear but fear itself. Charity begins at home and spreads abroad. There is no charity here in the US. It's every person for themselves. Can't make it? Not my problem. Can't get health care, not my problem. No longer are we our brothers' keeper. Is this the world we all envisioned? The world torn by religious and political strife? The world torn by hatred of the "other"? Remember, for all of their supposed "power" there are more of us than them. They can't kill us all. Who would do the work that enriches their coffers? When they try to squeeze through the eye of that needle, I don't think they'll make it. Selah.

They will microwave us for our own good. Consume and obey. It is the year of our lord ford. Anyone who says otherwise wears a tin foil hat. They would never turn the american military on us. Just like the government would never allow rape, murder, or torture. Or poor people to drown with no rescue. How bad does it have to get? They don't need ovens these days. People just disappear. And the "good people" continue to say "it's not that bad". Until, of course, the "good people" are dragged screaming from their homes. Even Jesus lost his temper at times and said enough was enough. Allowing your fellow human beings to be mistreated is not pacifist. It's cowardice.

I've sent three posts. Not one has appeared. All were polite but forceful. Guess that didn't work.
