Some thoughts as I watch and participate in the various threads:

1. This party is 216 years old. Nearly as old as the Union itself. A few more weeks of a campaign will not hurt it.

2. Anyone who is being rude should be called on it. By both sides.

3. Posting things that say "So and So Stop it!" "Why will she not go away!" "She is going to destroy our chances!" "Obama Is Never Going to Win GE..." Just keeping the rabble rousing up. So if you feel the need to post such a thing...stop, take a deep breath and ask yourself "am I doing this because I want a civil discussion or am I doing this because I am pissed off at something someone said and want to start a fight?" That someone can be anyone from another DUer or a candidate. If you are doing it to just start a fight, stop, get away from the computer and go have a cupcake or watch a speech of your candidate, or whatever calms you down.

4. If you think that someone will be offended by your post, think twice about posting it. Probably will offend someone and that is no way to heal the party.

5. Let people grieve who are Senator Clinton supporters because it is pretty likely she is not going to get it but she is going to stay in. EVEN IF YOU THINK THEY ARE WRONG for continuing to support her. Be polite to them if they are polite, and be polite to them even if they are rude while letting them know you are noticing their rudeness.

6. I know better then to suggest we stop having the 165,463,201,654 threads about how Senator Obama is the nominee or that Clinton is completely down and out. Until there is that first ballot at convention counted, NO ONE is the nominee. They are just the duuuuuuuuuuh nominee if someone drops out or if they get the magic number.

7. And finally-just be nice to one another. Put a person on ignore if you cannot stand what they say. Ask them to join you in using manners. And always walk away if you are going to be nasty. It is not worth it.

Anyone want to join me?

vote for Senator Obama, and you know who you are, please listen up:

Senator Clinton may not go past the March 4th Primaries because she may lose them. As such, her supporters will be very unhappy about it, they are invested in her candidacy and will be devestated at the loss. Many of them on here have been reviled, insulted and looked down upon by the other candidate's supporters so already are feeling less than wanted. They are angry over that and hurt that their candidate may not make it if she loses on March 4th. They are saying that they will not vote for Senator Obama but it comes from the pain of watching their candidate lose. Please show them some fucking respect and courtesy about their pain and loss and let them have their moment of hysterical grief.

I have no preference in this race, my state (AZ) has already voted, I do not care who wins the nominee but as a former Deaniac who had her heart broken by his loss, I understand the pain that the Clinton supporters are/may be in. Some of them have been total jackasses towards the Obama supporters. (I can think of a few) So what? Not all of them have been, and regardless of their behavior, they are your fellow Democrats and they most likely will fall in line behind Senator Obama but they need some time to heal.

Let them.

And by the way, if Senator Obama suddenly starts losing, you Clinton supporters should do the same thing for the Obama supporters.

Opening scene In a Bar

Man (drunkenly to woman next to him): Sechs?

Woman (also drunkenly): yesh

Six Weeks Later
Outside same bar

Woman: Oh! I am glad I ran into you again.

Man (guilty look): Uh why?

Woman: Remember the sex we had after meeting for the first time ever while completely and totally drunk?

Man: Um…yeah kind of?

Woman: Well guess what?! I am pregnant. Which makes joining my convent kind of hard.

Man: You are a nun! Wow! And I got married a week after we had that sex.

Woman: Well no, not a nun YET. But golly, we are a pair of completely irresponsible people.

Man: Yeah, but you know if I was not married I totally would marry you even though I have only known you for um *looks at watch and does a quick bit of math* a half hour. Because after all as a completely irresponsible person the state legislature has allowed for me to have incentive to get married even after a momentary intimate moment if it means a pregnancy results from it.

Woman: Yes, and it was a momentary moment. Besides you are too hideous to marry. But my brother is gay and him and his partner would love to raise this child even if it is a little sooner then they wanted.

Man: Yes and your breath smells so I would not be happy. But it would be great your brother would raise our child however, they cannot get married and have a stable relationship because the NY Supreme Court says that they plan all their children out.

Woman: Wait, how is this planning their children out? How would they know I was going to get knocked up from a drunken one night stand and give them the chance at their own little bundle of joy?!

Man: I have no idea. But I am sure that the NY Supreme Court is completely right that the state Lege has to provide incentives for irresponsible people like us to marry simply because a pregnancy has occurred by accident while gays do not need any incentives at all to be forced into anything since they plan ahead when having children.

Woman: Well this is not true at all since look, my brother is going to have his first child as soon as I give birth!

Couple exchange phone numbers for the legal stuff required in giving up a child for adoption and then leave to go about their day.

THE END

I ask because on another thread some people were complaining about the years it has taken to get full rights for gays.

Well women took how long exactly to get voting rights? How about that whole slavery issue? THAT took a war.

Nothing happens overnight, especially in this country.

Mine was of the Bush/Dukasis race where I wondered why everyone was sitting on couches. I was nine.

What about you?

"Anyway, unless you plan on getting up with us women forced to have babies we do not want for the 3 AM feeding, could you kindly stay out of our uteruses? Thank you."

Was I too harsh? :p

I make it pretty clear on my profile I do not like Republicans...so I was amused to get this:

Well guess what Democrat, I don't like Liberals.
You're not a Democrat, you're a Liberal.....
People with t-shirts that have a W crossed out, Liberal.
People who have 300 bumperstuckers on their car, Liberal.
People who drive hybrid vehicles, usually Liberal.
People who are scrubby looking, usually Liberal.
Please don't refer to yourself as a Democrat, you're not a Democrat...You're a LIBERAL
cya Liberal.
Greg (Republican) California

Has he been told that Democrats are mostly liberal?
