to see how this thought plays out. It really is about fear being one of the most important factors in keeping the voters in check. The repuke idea of playing the population as dummies and dupes is launched again and again in his and his colleagues' comments.
powered generator at our ranch (that was easily 70-80 years ago) before rural electrification. The two windmills which service the 2 areas with houses have both been changed to submersible electric pumps and the newer well is electric. We still have 3 wind powered wells. The rural electric coop has been bought out twice now and is becoming less and less user friendly. I am really interested in seeing what and how we could switch (actually go back)and add wind power. With the horrible drought we are having, I don't have a penny extra but am wondering about the future.
families with men fighting on both sides. My mother as a child would get into trouble at one set of grandparents' house for whistling Dixie and that was probably 50 or more years after the war. Of course, her southern grandmother just gave her a lecture about whistling not being ladylike. "A whistling girl and a cackling hen will often come to no good end."
and friends and want the best for them. Not to mention the fact that loads of women will never let anyone, men or women put them in a place that categorize them as walking reproductive units and not as people.
long ago and our switch had nothing to do with politics. It was about saving money and being treated as people, not as an account. Knocking people down by where they live is as much a form of bigotry as any other. One is making an assumption about folks based on factors that do not address them as individual people, i.e.: color, religion, sect, sex, and locale. Prejudice means prejudging people. It is degrading and is not a trait of progressive people.
turnout. There is wide spread intimidation. In one county the repubs' have their headquarters across from the court house and according to one source harass Hispanics trying to voting. Employees have been told that they will not be excused from work to vote and that if they do, they will be fired. Many time this is never spoken out loud but passed around sub rosa from foreman to worker. These and other tactics have been told to me time and again. Now many second generation Hispanics who have gained their voice and power have decided to become repugs because the Dems never did anything to help their parents. What can one do with illogical thoughts like this? If you give me some new answers. I would be happy to apply them.
even find people to run here because the right wing repukes have so much money and power. They have even gotten people to change parties by threatening them with to use all their money and power to get unknown and unworthy candidates to run against them. Funny thing just happened in a mayoral race. The incumbent mayor, who was accepting federal money to use solar power to run a new sewage treatment plant instead of rejecting that money and using local funds for lights for a new football field was beaten by a worthless tool of the right wing. I told a repuke friend whose husband had served in a reasonable manner on the board and who was also defeated in this sweep for power that no one has that kind of money to spend on campaigning here except repukes. Guess what the next step was, fire the city manager and get the repuke county chair for the job. This place is a lost cause.
40%-50% of the population, but that's okay most of those who were excluded were only women and it only took 133 years to clear up that little democracy problem. And, of course, even males who were slaves, Native Americans or do not own property were also excluded.
against women. I started a reply to the original thread but felt moved to write something separate from it. Progressive feminist issues are sorely neglected on this site. That is my personal opinion. Yours is probably different. If vanity equates to passion for a subject that I feel strongly about, then so be it.
