She is a wonderful person and going to be a great bishop of L.A.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/12/06/m...

She comes from my diocese, the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland and I met her once in the hall at the Cathedral of the Incarnation where she used to work. She smiled at me and said "Hi."

I heard the women at my church today talking about how great she was because she worked with our vestry. They were saying, "I hope they don't make a big deal about the lesbian thing, but she can handle it."
We're all very supportive of her because she has a lot of experience. It takes a lot of bravery to be the first openly lesbian bishop. Please send out postive energy and/or prayers for her and all us LGBTI people. Thank you, DU!

Brian Peter George St. John le Baptiste de la Salle Eno was born May 15, 1948! He's awesome! Nice! Nice! YAH-YAY-YAh!

Early 1970s Eno:

Reading a magazine as a member of Roxy Music circa 1972

Nowadays:

Blank Frank from "Here Come The Warm Jets."

Blank Frank: he's the messenger of your doom and your destruction.
Yes, he is the one who will set you up as nothing.
And he is the one who will look at you sideways
His particular skill is leaving bombs in people's driveways.

Blank Frank has a memory that's as cold as an iceberg
The only time he speaks is in incomprehensible proverbs
Blank Frank is the siren, he's the air-raid, he's the crater.
He's on the menu on the table, he's the knife and he's the waiter.

MGMT's "Brian Eno"

So tired
Soul searching
I followed the sounds to a cathredal
imagine my surprise to find that they were produce by Brian Eno

past the gates
quite stark
the roses trimmed and the windows dark
I see the walls through a limestone crack
not red not blue not yellow but black
and all the space left for you
if the sky was synthesized you'd probably know

he taught me many things
the wisdowm of o bleak stratagems
the prophet of a sapphire soul
presented through creative freedoms
and everything i say is true
cuz if i was telling lies it'd probably show

i can tell that he's kind of smiling
but what does he know?
we're always one step behind him, he's Brian Eno
Brian Eno

when I was stuck he'd make me memorize elaborate curses
tinctures and formulas to ditch the chori and flip the verses
my whole foundation came unglued
when i tried to humanize by ambient light
dipping swords in metaphors yeah but what does he know?
he's go the whole world behind him he's Brian Eno
Brian Eno!

he promised pretty worlds and all the silence I could dream of Brian peter George St John Le
Baptiste De La Salle Eno

well all alone by the oldest stone where the shade
trees grow the creature by the water feature with a
ghostly glow making sure that time's preserved
well we reap what we sow he's go the whole
world behind him he's Brian Eno etc. etc.

The song is "Bittersweet" from Roxy Music's Album "Country Life."

Bitter - Sweet
(Bryan Ferry/Andy Mackay)

Well this is such
A sad affair
I've opened up my heart
So many times
But now it's closed
Oh my dear
Every salted tear
It wrings
Bitter - sweet applause
But when the show's in full swing
Every once in a while
High stepping chorus lines
Mean I'm forgetting
Mein lullaby - liebchen
How rich in contrast
Love can be
Sometimes I'm quite amused
To see it twist and turn
To taste - both sweet and dry
These vintage years!
Lovers you consume, my friend
As others their wine
Nein - das ist nicht
Das ende der welt
Gestrandet an leben und kunst
Und das spiel geht weiter
Wie man weiss
Noch viele schönste...wiedershen
And now, as you turn to leave
You try to force a smile -
As if to compensate -
Then you break down and cry

Okay, now I'll isolate the German verse:

"Nein - das ist nicht
Das ende der welt
Gestrandet an leben und kunst
Und das spiel geht weiter
Wie man weiss
Noch viele schönste...wiedershen"

Here is what I got from my mother's rusty German...

"No, this is the night
......
......freedom and art
.........
...goodbye"

Please help. Thank you.

Lyrics:
Psalm
(Bryan Ferry)

"Try on your love
Like a new dress
The fit and the cut
Your friends to impress
Try on your smile -
Square on your face
Showing affection
Should be no disgrace
Try out your God
Hope He will send
Kindness from strangers
On whom you depend
Try on His coat
A mantle most fine
Myriad colours
His harmony-thine
Believe in me
Once seemed a good line
Now belief in Jesus
Is faith more sublime
Head in the clouds
But I can't see the Lord
Short of perfection
I'll try to be good
I'll stand at His gate
I'll wait for His sign
Then I'll walk in His garden
When it's my time
Drink from His cup
Hush now don't you cry
His quiet waters
Will never, never run dry
Nearing death's vale
He's here by my side
He leads me to paradise
A mountain so high
Don't be afraid
Just treasure His word
Singing His praises
I know that I'll be heard
He's gonna take you by the hand
He's gonna make you feel so good
Open up your eyes
And then you'll see all that you should
Forget all your troubles
You will feel no pain
He's all that you need
He's your everything
When I'm feeling all at sea
Deliverance is that distant shore
I will not be worried
Someday His house will be my home
For ever more"

I love it because it's spiritual and personal not judgemental of other beliefs. Yes, I was an atheist, but now I'm Christian. I never judge anyone on beliefs. It's what you actually do. So, please don't be mad at me, dear DUers, that I changed my religious/philosophical perspective again. I mean no disrespect to atheists or agnostics. All human beings should be treated with respect and dignity for the simple fact that they are human.

This is an emotional issue. Right now please don't hurt me, DU.

I'm sorry that I've objectified Bryan Ferry on this messageboard. I promise that I will not do that again, to him or anyone else. We are all human beings, not sex objects.

I'm so embarrassed.

Mostly Prairie Wind songs, but goodness, they are some great songs.
If a man writes 10 good songs he's got talent, but if he's written hundreds, the man's a genius.
