A religious group's tax-exempt status is questioned after claims that it asked people to attend a political rally for Rep. Sally Kern. The Internal Revenue Service is looking into an e-mail from Reclaiming Oklahoma for Christ and whether it violates federal law I just think it's much ado about nothing," Kern said. Read more: http://www.koco.com/r/24695879/detail.html I wish this would happen more often! If all the churches that dally in politics were to lose their tax exempt status I would imagine a huge dent in our deficit would miraculously occur. If you are not aware of who Mrs Kern is, I will give you a quick rundown; she compared gays to terrorists, she said gays are infiltrating the schools to indoctrinate children, her and her preacher husband disowned their gay son. In a nut shell (literally)she is a hate filled ugly woman and yet another reason to shake my head in dismay at elected officials in Oklahoma! www.nwfdailynews.com bottom right. Just a glance at the comments will give a sneak peak of the mentality of my neighbors.
I love word games and when I saw this one, I had to share. It was in the online comment section of our local paper in response to a right wing nut...
Weird Word Tricks Did you know that the words "race car" spelled backwards still spells "race car"? Weird huh? Did you know that "eat" is the only word that, if you take the 1st letter and move it to the last, spells its past tense, "ate"? And if you rearrange the letters in "so-called tea party Republicans," and add just a few more letters, it spells: "STFU you freeloading, progress-blocking, benefit grabbing, resource-sucking, stone hearted, violent, hypocritical greedy a$$holes, and face the fact that you nearly wrecked the country under Bush." Wow! How weird is that? blatant hypocrites before......are they test driving a conscience?

Visitors on the Okaloosa Island pier Wednesday morning watched several large clusters of bright red tar balls roll toward the shore. “I expected it to be black and nasty, and it was red like blood,” said John Zachary who was visiting the area from Arkansas. He had planned to go fishing every morning while he was here, but said the sight of the clusters had him rethinking that plan. “It kind of makes you want to cry, and I don’t even live here,” he said. Read more: http://www.nwfdailynews.com/news/okaloosa-... This is in Ft Walton Beach FL near Destin. I do live here and I have and will continue to cry over this spill. Even though I knew this would eventually happen, I was grateful to be spared as long as we were, its still so hard to wrap my mind around. the more options available to women result in less unwanted pregnancies.

Gov. Brad Henry has vetoed legislation that would have allowed Oklahomans to wear handguns in public view. Henry vetoed the measure on Friday. The governor also vetoed legislation that would have prohibited Oklahoma from following the new federal health care law and authorized the Legislature to file a lawsuit over the issue. Read more: http://www.newsok.com/oklahoma-governor-ve... OK Senators tried but failed to override the veto. I received this today from a friend who finally got tired of me fact checking and debunking her right wing emails. She sent me this one to check out for legitimacy BEFORE she bcc’d it all over Oklahoma.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________ My people perish for a lack of knowledge! Who knew and how do you stop it? There is so much more going on behind the scenes we know not of. I think Obama is creating a monster bigger than he is...and it's not beyond biting it's master! Careful, Mr. President! Dhimmitude - Interesting I had never heard the word until now---Type it into Google and start reading.Pretty interesting. Word of the Day: Dhimmitude Dhimmitude is the Muslim system of controlling non-muslim populations conquered through jihad. Specifically, it is the TAXING of non-muslims in exchange for tolerating their presence AND as a coercive means of converting conquered remnants to islam. The ObamaCare bill is the establishment of Dhimmitude and Sharia muslim diktat in the United States. Muslims are specifically exempted from the government mandate to purchase insurance, and also from the penalty tax for being uninsured. Islam considers insurance to be "gambling", "risk-taking" and "usury" and is thus banned. Muslims are specifically granted exemption based on this. How convenient. So I, Ann Barnhardt, a Christian, will have crippling IRS liens placed against all of my assets, including real estate, cattle, and even accounts receivables, and will face hard prison time because I refuse to buy insurance or pay the penalty tax. Meanwhile, Louis Farrakhan will have no such penalty and will have 100% of his health needs paid for by the de facto government insurance. Non-muslims will be paying a tax to subsidize muslims. Period. This is Dhimmitude. Dhimmitude serves two purposes: it enriches the muslim masters AND serves to drive conversions to islam. In this case, the incentive to convert to islam will be taken up by those in the inner-cities as well as the godless Generation X, Y and Z types who have no moral anchor. If you don't believe in Christ to begin with, it is no problem whatsoever to sell Him for 30 pieces of silver. "Sure, I'll be a muslim if it means free health insurance and no taxes. Where do I sign, bro?" I recommend sending this post to your contacts. This is desperately important and people need to know about it - quickly. Also, please take a look at: http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2010/0... ______________________________________________________________________________________________ My response: Very interesting, though what that email leaves out is that the Amish, Scientologist and Christian Scientist COULD I say that lightly, could be exempt right along with the Muslims… The fact is that the “Patient Protection and Affordability Care Act” (PPACA) passed by congress and signed into law by President Obama does NOT INCLUDE language which specifically exempts members of any particular religion from health insurance requirements. It includes a general “religious conscience” provision which MAY exempt some American from health insurance requirements if they are members of religions which have established conscientious to certain forms of insurance. Its called the Religious Conscience Exemption, this link explains more. But like it says at the bottom of the page the Health Insurance Mandate Provision of PPACA doesn’t kick in until 2014, and between then and now many changes will likely be launched regarding who might be exempt. http://www.snopes.com/politics/medical/exe... Snopes determined "Undetermined" I never knew such an exemption existed, and I am not fond of being schooled by a right winger...how did I not know this? (rhetorical question, no need to answer). in response to the HCR bill.....
"McCain: Don't expect GOP cooperation on legislation for the rest of this year" http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-roo... oh yeah, he really said that. IMO, the Super bowl is NOT the place for an anti-choice ad. No captive audience should be hijakced and exposed to a religous and or moral rant. I would rather some actor try to sell me crap flavored kool-aid then sit and listen to 30 seconds of Tebows mom go on about HER Choice while the corporation paying millions for the ad is trying to take my choice away. __________________________________________________________________________________________
snip> All the national networks, including CBS, have policies that rule out the broadcast of certain types of contentious advocacy ads. In 2004, CBS cited such a policy in rejecting an ad by the liberal-leaning United Church of Christ highlighting the UCC's welcoming stance toward gays and others who might feel shunned by more conservative churches. CBS was criticized for rejecting that ad - and perhaps might have worried about comparable criticism from conservatives if it had rejected an ad featuring such a charismatic and well-known figure as Tebow. You can send formatted or custom emails to CBS and its other sponsors on your disapproval of the placement of Tebow’s Focus on the Family anti-choice ad via the link. Tebow says, "I know some people won't agree with it, but I think they can at least respect that I stand up for what I believe," snip< http://www.azcentral.com/sports/cardinals/... _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Well, I don't agree though I do respect what he believes and I will stand up for what I believe as well, you can too: The below link offers form emails you can send or customize your own to the CBS/execs, NFL and Super bowl sponsors. The formatted letter includes: "By offering one of the most coveted advertising spots of the year to an anti-equality, anti-choice, homophobic organization, CBS is aligning itself with a political stance that will damage its reputation, alienate viewers, and discourage consumers from supporting its shows and advertisers". http://salsa.democracyinaction.org/o/937/p... edited to update link and many of my family and friends that still live there are democrats, they are out numbered of course, but working on it. The ones who remain conservative are just so ignorant they don't know any better, its the educated ones that lean left!

I put this is another post regarding womens rights and find it fitting to your Theocracy statement:
We are being dragged backward by the religious right, albeit kicking and screaming they are still winning. They won't be happy till every American citizen is in church every time the doors are open, every woman of childbearing age is married and reproducing in between house work and PTA, husbands or fathers approve and consent for any form of birth control, every gay or lesbian is back in the closet, people of color have their own neighborhood, boys wear dress pants and button up shirts and girls can only wear dresses and skirts, no post secondary education, no make up, no adornments, every home has at least one gun per family member, people who think, look or act differently are institutionalized as crazy, the US is yet again shoving "our way" down some other country's throat, the divide between rich and poor is unbridgeable and a middle aged white man is in the white house. my fellow Floridian... I'm in north FL and it's freezing!!! I'm considering hibernation or migration.
