Our order of Teese arrived yesterday and we made pizza tonight. It was really good. We made our own crust and Isa's sauce from VWaV, then topped it with red onion, black olives, mushrooms and the Teese.

Here it is before going in the oven:

Right out of the oven:

Another close up:

We really liked it. The taste was great, much better than Follow Your Heart, we thought. Plus, it really did melt. We put a ton on the pizza, as you can see. We tasted it beforehand and it really had an authentic fresh mozzarella taste. We'd use it again for sure.

King County Sheriff's Office investigators have discovered at least six bodies at a rural property near Carnation, apparent victims in a multiple homicide.

Deputies have located the remains of six men and women at the densely wooded lot in the 1800 block of 346th Avenue Northeast. Investigators, who are still searching for additional bodies at the property, have yet to release details on the killings.

"This is a very big and complex crime scene," said Bob Conner, a detective with the sheriff's office.

Deputies were called to the home Wednesday morning after a friend of the family living there discovered the dead.

A sheriff's office spokesman said initially that three bodies were found at the scene, but the department has since said that additional victims have been located.

OLYMPIA -- The state Supreme Court on Thursday ruled that Initiative 747, a Tim Eyman property-tax limit, is unconstitutional.

Voters approved the measure in 2001 to cap property tax increases at 1 percent a year.

In a 5-4 ruling, the high court said that while the interests of initiative proponents are important, the law requires voters "from being misled as to its effect on existing law."

"A voter reading the text of the initiative could believe that he or she was voting to reduce the property tax limit by 1 percent instead of by 5 percent, a substantially different impact on the public coffers, as well as the perceived benefit to the individual voter's purse," the majority, led by Justice Bobbe Bridge, wrote.

But dissenting justices wrote that "no reasonable argument can be sustained that voters were in any way misled or confused by the effect of I-747, which expressly and was specifically aimed at lowering the tax growth to 1 percent."

I wish he'd move.

I couldn't believe this news at last. I grew up with her younger brother (mentioned in the story) and this case is the reason I became interested in true crime, specifically cold cases. To say we've all been waiting for this day for a long time is the understatement of the century.

On July 2, 1978, she and a girlfriend saw a movie downtown and took the bus back home to Ballard. She was last seen walking from the bus stop toward her house on 20th Avenue Northwest. Her body was found the next day in the men's room of a gas station on Leary Avenue, more than a mile away. She'd been stabbed in the neck, chest and head.

Police concluded she'd almost made it home. A neighbor reported hearing a scream and the screech of tires. Lundquist's purse and clogs turned up in an alley.

At the time, police made a public plea for clues. Her father and others later offered a $5,000 reward for information, but the case eventually reached a dead end.

<snip>

Ciesynski began looking into the girl's unsolved killing after a call a few years ago from Lundquist's brother, who'd occasionally checked with police over the years.

He tracked down old reports and remnants of the investigation: The denim outfit Lundquist had worn -- a ticket stub for "Damien: Omen II" still tucked into a pocket -- and the key: microscopic evidence that she may have been sexually assaulted.

He sent the evidence, found inside the girl's clothing, to the Washington State Patrol Crime Lab, where scientists and today's DNA technology revealed a genetic profile. They entered it in a database of convicted felons' profiles last year and found a match with Williams, Ciesynski said.

The onetime shipyard sandblaster was in prison for killing Laura Anne Baylis, 21, not long after Lundquist's death.

Jill Leovy's war isn't thousands of miles away. In fact, without traffic, she can drive from her office to the front lines in about ten minutes.

It's being fought mostly in the tough, minority neighborhoods of Los Angeles County, where three people are killed each day on average — more than a thousand a year.

Leovy is the creator of The Homicide Report, a blogging project by the Los Angeles Times in which she is attempting to record every homicide in Los Angeles County over the course of a year. She has covered over 700 to date.

Because it is often the only public acknowledgement of the event, the blog has become a memorial for murder victims, with family members and friends posting responses adjacent to many of the entries, providing updates on children or expressing the pain of being left alone.

Most of the reports are just a sentence or two long, but they are filled with heartbreak, like the death of Michael Presley, 19, buried in the same grave as his father, who was also murdered years earlier.

Or the story of twin brothers Noel and Joel Velazco, both shot to death only a few feet from each other, but six years apart.

I've known Jill since college. She's an amazing person.

I love her early books too. She was a devout Episcopalian and for years was the writer-in-residence at Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City. Rest in Peace.

King County Councilwoman Jane Hague has been hit with a new problem that, like her recently revealed drunken driving charge, could be damaging politically as well as financially.

The staff of the state Public Disclosure Commission, in an administrative complaint Friday, accused her of multiple violations of campaign finance laws.

It said the Bellevue Republican was late, sometimes by more than 13 months, in filing numerous reports of campaign contributions, expenditures and bank deposits; failed to disclose occupations and other required information about contributors, and accepted contributions in excess of the allowable limit of $700 from eight donors.

The complaint said Hague also violated laws governing surplus funds accounts, which are strictly regulated accounts for leftover campaign funds. It said she illegally filed several expenditure and fund-transfer reports late, some by as much as 15 months, and reimbursed herself for expenses -- including campaign contributions to other politicians -- for which surplus funds can't be used.

King County Councilwoman Jane Hague faces a drunken driving charge stemming from a June 2 incident near Bellevue, authorities said Tuesday.

Hague, a Republican representing Council District 6 in the Bellevue-Kirkland area, is running for re-election this fall.

Hague, 61, was stopped by a State Patrol trooper on State Route 520, according to court documents. She pleaded not guilty during a July 30 arraignment in King County District Court in Redmond.

Hague did not return calls for comment.

On Tuesday, King County prosecutors handed the case to the Redmond City Attorney's office to avoid the appearance of a conflict of interest. The county's civil division provides legal advice to the County Council, Prosecutor's Office spokesman Dan Donohoe said.

A few hundred protesters, with some donned in pirate outfits, rallied Saturday outside Regence BlueShield's headquarters and called on the Seattle-based insurer to reverse course after raising individual rates an average 19 percent last month.

"We are here to demand an end to insurance piracy," said Maribel Peralez, a Lynnwood resident and one of the speakers during the 45-minute morning rally.

The co-called "Pirates of the Health Care-ibbean" protest began with a march from Seattle University, and it included churches, labor unions, health-care providers and advocates. Demonstrators also called for universal health care.

It was spurred by Regence's decision to increase individual plans in July, with some policyholders seeing rates increase more than 40 percent at the same time the company has $890 million in capital and surplus funds. The state Insurance Commissioner has no authority to review rates.

I wish I'd known about this rally. I have to pay for my own insurance and this increase is just horrible.

The Alaskan Way Viaduct and 520 bridge are bad enough, but drivers who brave one of the worst spans in Washington state are flirting with disaster.

The steel on downtown Tacoma's Murray Morgan Bridge is so corroded, state engineers want the 1911 drawbridge closed. But the city has balked, arguing it needs that link to its industrial tidelands.

"The bridge, in my opinion, is beyond repair," said Jugesh Kapur, chief bridge engineer at the state Department of Transportation. "We really want to shut it down because we are taking a risk every day by keeping that bridge open."

Murray Morgan is among the worst of more than 300 bridges statewide deemed "structurally deficient."

I try to have some compassion for other people with chronic illnesses. I'm sure she was having a bad day when she said that, but sheesh, Ann, try to have a little compassion for people like us who are really suffering with cancer. It's no walk in the park, trust me.

My type of cancer is generally not life-threatening but it has a 50-80% recurrence rate. So I have checkups every 90 days for the next two years, that is if I don't have another recurrence. I have already had two in since last November. I will never be cured unless medical science actually finds a cancer cure, so this is my lot in life.

My favorites are "Wild Strawberries" and of course "The Seventh Seal."

I had a wonderful Scandinavian Studies prof at the University of Washington who wrote a couple of books about him. Her name is Birgitta Steene. I think she retired and moved back to Sweden.

SEATTLE -- Police have arrested a suspect in the killing of radio host Mike Webb, KIRO 7 Eyewitness News has learned.

Scott White, 28, was previously described as a "person of interest" in the case, KIRO 7 first reported on July 5. Police said he was arrested without incident on Wednesday night.

Police said they believe White was one of the last people to see Webb alive.

The body of the former KIRO radio talk host was found in a crawl space of his Queen Anne home on June 28.

The King County medical examiner's office said the cause of death was listed as "multiple sharp force injuries" and ruled the case a homicide.

As someone who is battling cancer, I am in awe of her energy and enthusiasm. I appreciate her openness about cancer and her treatment and I really enjoyed seeing her on Ted Koppel's special on the Discovery Channel a couple of months ago.

Thank you, Elizabeth.

"Children, it is our duty to God to be compassionate toward the poor and needy. When somebody is suffering we should sympathize and take pity on him. But that alone is not enough. We should be ready to help him, because God is everywhere, in everything. When we develop compassion and love for ailing people, His grace will spontaneously flow into us." ~ Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Amma)
