Case in point is an earlier post here on DU about Frank Luntz's advice to Repug Gov's. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discu...

Not only is this happening at this political level - it is happening in corporations, banks, brokerage houses, media, churches, at your grocery store, etc. Everywhere we turn there are people plotting, scheming and conniving ways to get into our heads and our back pockets. So much of what we are up against as consumers is just out and out fraud and deception. I'm sure everyone can cite examples of this.

One would think because we are exposed to this on a 24/7 basis on TV, in newspapers, through our mail - that we would be wise to it and not get continually fooled - but - that's not the case.

We are entering into almost a full year of continuous campaigning and we will be inundated with all kinds of deceptive, negative commercials and political ads. And guess what - we will fall for it like we always do.

Caveat Emptor!!! There's a sucker born every minute!!! These still ring true and we still haven't gotten it.

Why are we so gullible? Why do we let this happen to us? Why do we get suckered everytime?

Yes - people are being paid to lie, cheat and defraud us. The thought of this just sickens me.

It's also interesting to note that those people that are being paid to Con us in one area are being conned themselves in others. You would think they would be smarter - but they get suckered too.

The circle of life.

Rants & Ramblings
I intend to use this space to post those day to day things that occur that really irritate me:

1. People that use cell phones while driving should stay in the slow lane.
2. It takes longer to check out in a grocery store now with barcode checking than it did when checkout people punched in the price on the old cash registers.
3. Running the gauntlet of people smoking outside of places where smoking is not allowed inside.
4. People not using turning signals to signify lane changes or turns. (This was brought up in a thread and reminded me that this really irritates me).
5. Drive-up windows. Cars waiting in drive-up window lines wasting gas. Are we so lazy we can't get out of the car to purchase something. Drive-up windows should be outlawed because of the potential of wasting gas.
6. Lack of customer service - everywhere. If you don't do your own research and know what you want to purchase - it is hard to find a salesperson in the retail enviroment that can help you make a purchase decision. You know what I mean. Ask a sales person a question - they give you a blank stare - and then they begin reading the shelf labels you already read before you asked them the question.
