On June 26, 2008, the U.S. Supreme Court embraced the National Rifle Association's contention that the Second Amendment provides individuals with the right to take violent action against our government should it become "tyrannical." The following timeline catalogues incidents of insurrectionist violence (or the promotion of such violence) that have occurred since that decision was issued...

http://www.csgv.org/issues-and-campaigns/g...

July 27, 2008—Jim Adkisson shoots and kills two people at a progressive church in Knoxville, Tennessee, wounding two. Adkisson calls it “a symbolic killing” because he really “wanted to kill…every Democrat in the Senate & House, the 100 people in Bernard Goldberg's book,” but was unable to gain access to them.

March 21-22, 2009—Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-MN) states that she wants residents of her state to be “armed and dangerous on this issue of the energy tax because we need to fight back. Thomas Jefferson told us ‘having a revolution every now and then is a good thing,’ and the people—we the people—are going to have to fight back hard if we’re not going to lose our country.”

April 4, 2009—Neo-Nazi Richard Poplawski shoots and kills three police officers responding to a 911 call to his home in Pittsburgh. His friend Edward Perkovic tells reporters that Poplawski feared “the Obama gun ban that’s on its way” and “didn’t like our rights being infringed upon.” Perkovic also commented that Poplawski carried out the shooting because “if anyone tried to take his firearms, he was gonna’ stand by what his forefathers told him to do.”

MUCH MORE AT LINK.

The Other 90% carried out by ordinary Iraqis.

Weaver: Zarqawi’s Death 'Significant' But Not 'Decisive' in Ending Iraqi Insurgency

Interviewee: Mary Anne Weaver
Interviewer: Bernard Gwertzman, Consulting Editor

June 9, 2006

Mary Anne WeaverMary Anne Weaver, a veteran Middle East correspondent whose biographical article on Abu Musab al-Zarqawi is in the current issue of The Atlantic Monthly, says the killing of Zarqawi "is significant, but I don't think it's decisive." Weaver, who was an Edward R. Murrow Fellow two years ago at CFR, says Zarqawi's organization was only responsible for 10 percent of the insurgent attacks in Iraq.

"While Zarqawi's attacks were the most spectacular, while Zarqawi was probably one of a number of key figures who actually played a crucial role in fanning sectarian warfare, curiously the other groups are the ones which mainly targeted U.S. troops," says Weaver. With Zarqawi gone, it is important to know whether his group will "continue targeting Shiites, particularly civilian Shiites, or will it refrain itself—reprogram itself is a better word—and begin attacking coalition forces?"

You have an article on the life of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi in the current issue of The Atlantic Monthly that you researched a few months ago in Jordan and elsewhere. What do you think is the significance of his death?

Obviously it is significant, but I don't think it's decisive. It was a symbolic victory more than an ideological victory vis-à-vis what Zarqawi did. He certainly was the most brutal perpetrator of acts of terror in Iraq, but I think it's also necessary to keep in mind that he actually only committed some 10 percent of the total number of attacks.

Where does that 10-percent figure come from? I've seen that elsewhere also.

When I was in the Middle East in March, I talked to a number of intelligence officials in both Jordan and Israel. They first gave me the figure. It was later confirmed to me by a senior American officer who had served in Iraq.

And the other 90 percent of the insurgent attacks come from local Iraqis, is that your impression?

Exactly.

I guess Shrub is gonna have to find another boogeyman for his little brownshirts to rally behind, huh? Who could it be>

said that right at the beginning of his interview. My point is that these talking heads are not simply saying, "innocent until proven guilty" They're going out of their way to say that it didn't even happen! In fact, I've not even heard one of those guys say "innocent until proven guilty" not once. I've only heard the "alleged" incident statements.

A google search for "alleged Haditha" returns nearly 2,000,000 hits! In what, a week?

The circling of the wagons is not to protect the soldiers from revenge attacks...it's to protect those Marines who slaughtered little babies and elderly folks praying.

I donated to Hackett. I was pissed when he gave up against that Nazi Slut Whore Bitch. And I'm certainly not singling out Hackett, for there are many many other military talking heads who've spewed the same talking points. Listen carefully and you'll hear it too.

Don't get me wrong. I am thankful that we have a justice system based on the presumption of innocence...at least we did until the pukes took over, and I would never ever take away that which is the right of every american to be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

that's why I'm only talking about the fact that these guys' own words give the impression that nothing happened at all.

peace...

but he's not the issue here. and neither is "innocent until proven guilty"

because that's not what they're sayin'.

If you listen carefully, they're saying, "This alleged incident" or "Downplaying the alleged Haditha massacre"

"Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki denounced the alleged killings"

"White House Promises Full Disclosure Of Alleged Haditha Massacre "

"after the news broke about the alleged Haditha killings. ..."

GOOGLE.COM search for "ALLEGED HADITHA"

Results 1 - 10 of about 1,970,000 for alleged haditha. (0.18 seconds)

Sounds to me like they're sayin' it didn't. even. happen.

And they're going out of their way to say it like that. 2 million hits in a week?

There's nothing "alleged" about this. Those people are dead. And for the record, I hold dear in my heart our legal system works on the presumption of innocence until proven guilty, but if those marines did nothing wrong, why the coverup? What of the Iraqi videotape that proves those marines are nothing but goddamn liars saying that those people died in an explosion when the tape clearly shows they were shot at point blank range with the same rounds that only the Marines use?

the speeches he's been giving recently? such as this one, hosted by bobb barr of all people
http://www.crooksandliars.com/2006/01/16.h...

Hillary is the Repuke's wet dream candidate in '08, and personally, I think she's got too much baggage to eek out a win in 08...maybe 2016? The pukes have already "sighted her in", so to speak, and are ready to launch a volley of divisive fear ads and commercials of mass disgustion. and you know damn well the dumbfounded dipshit american people will suck it up like they always do because they've got collective short-term (4 yr)electoral alzheimer's disease. even though the last 8 years have been the worst in their lives, they'll still be easily convinced that brown people are coming for grandma, and that WMD's are in their SUV's and and G.O.D. is down with GWB...

scary/.

Gore'd Out Of His Boots

President-Elect Al Gore is currently live on C-SPAN skewering the hell out of President-Select George W. Bush. The camera just panned the audience and there's no doubt that the rubes at Powerline, LGF, and Freeperville will beligerately claim that the near capacity crowd should be tried for treason and hating 'Murika. Oh, and someone should check on The Maltese Malkin -- I can actually hear the foam start to collect on her muzzle already like a can of Barbasol ...

Extended Thoughts: RawStory dishes out a full transcript of Al Gore's speech. Also, a very belated thanks goes to John & Mike at C&L and for the frontpage love and their readers. I was so attentive to eating brunch while absorbing every morsel of Gore's speech that engaging in any other activity would've been a distraction. Sorry if any C&L visitors may have gotten the impression of me live-blogging the event. That would've been impossible -- aside from probably sucking at it, this was one of those events where I felt my obligations as a citizen outweighed my obligations as a blogger and thus Gore deserved my full and undivided attention. There's much better live-bloggers in the 'Sphere and, as good as their talents are, I don't believe they would've done this event justice. Even RawStory's transcript itself loses Gore's passion and conviction which can only be experianced by hearing and watching his speech.

me. I've been wanting to tell Rita Cosby to lay off the 'Roids before she grows a beard. And the Bushies would Loooooooooove a nice heartwarming distraction story right about now.

Panera Bread donates every day whatever baked goods they have left over And I realize that baked goods aren't quite the same as a sausage mc muffin with egg with regard to Federal regulations for food safety, but I should be able to walk in there with a special container like a caterer would use and go feed the hungry..

I rushed over to Mc'D's at 1022am trying to make it before breakfast ended at 1030. Well I barely made it, in fact as I was pulling through, an employee came outside to change out the menu. Once I got to the window waiting to pick up my screwed up order, I wondered what they did with all the leftovers from breakfast. SO I asked to speak to the manager and I said, "Would you be able to give me what's leftover from breakfast to take to some homeless veterans?"

he said, "Come on in, we'll fix you up"

I waited for what seemed like 15 minutes and then two workers from the back came out with three of the biggest Mc.D's bags I've ever seen!! One was filled to the top with pancake breakfasts. the other with Mc Muffins of every sort and the third had so many hashbrowns and sausage burritos I can't even count that ....well I'm a musician, I can only count to 4. but anyway, just thought I'd share this with you. Maybe you cana try it too! The manager told me that pretty much all McD's throww away what's left when they switch to l lunch

Maybe you can try it too

The War Prayer
by Mark Twain

It was a time of great and exalting excitement. The country was up in arms, the war was on, in every breast burned the holy fire of patriotism; the drums were beating, the bands playing, the toy pistols popping, the bunched firecrackers hissing and spluttering; on every hand and far down the receding and fading spread of roofs and balconies a fluttering wilderness of flags flashed in the sun; daily the young volunteers marched down the wide avenue gay and fine in their new uniforms, the proud fathers and mothers and sisters and sweethearts cheering them with voices choked with happy emotion as they swung by; nightly the packed mass meetings listened, panting, to patriot oratory which stirred the deepest deeps of their hearts, and which they interrupted at briefest intervals with cyclones of applause, the tears running down their cheeks the while; in the churches the pastors preached devotion to flag and country, and invoked the God of Battles beseeching His aid in our good cause in outpourings of fervid eloquence which moved every listener. It was indeed a glad and gracious time, and the half dozen rash spirits that ventured to disapprove of the war and cast a doubt upon its righteousness straightway got such a stern and angry warning that for their personal safety's sake they quickly shrank out of sight and offended no more in that way.

Sunday morning came -- next day the battalions would leave for the front; the church was filled; the volunteers were there, their young faces alight with martial dreams -- visions of the stern advance, the gathering momentum, the rushing charge, the flashing sabers, the flight of the foe, the tumult, the enveloping smoke, the fierce pursuit, the surrender! Then home from the war, bronzed heroes, welcomed, adored, submerged in golden seas of glory! With the volunteers sat their dear ones, proud, happy, and envied by the neighbors and friends who had no sons and brothers to send forth to the field of honor, there to win for the flag, or, failing, die the noblest of noble deaths. The service proceeded; a war chapter from the Old Testament was read; the first prayer was said; it was followed by an organ burst that shook the building, and with one impulse the house rose, with glowing eyes and beating hearts, and poured out that tremendous invocation

*God the all-terrible! Thou who ordainest! Thunder thy clarion and lightning thy sword!*

Then came the "long" prayer. None could remember the like of it for passionate pleading and moving and beautiful language. The burden of its supplication was, that an ever-merciful and benignant Father of us all would watch over our noble young soldiers, and aid, comfort, and encourage them in their patriotic work; bless them, shield them in the day of battle and the hour of peril, bear them in His mighty hand, make them strong and confident, invincible in the bloody onset; help them to crush the foe, grant to them and to their flag and country imperishable honor and glory --

An aged stranger entered and moved with slow and noiseless step up the main aisle, his eyes fixed upon the minister, his long body clothed in a robe that reached to his feet, his head bare, his white hair descending in a frothy cataract to his shoulders, his seamy face unnaturally pale, pale even to ghastliness. With all eyes following him and wondering, he made his silent way; without pausing, he ascended to the preacher's side and stood there waiting. With shut lids the preacher, unconscious of his presence, continued with his moving prayer, and at last finished it with the words, uttered in fervent appeal, "Bless our arms, grant us the victory, O Lord our God, Father and Protector of our land and flag!"

The stranger touched his arm, motioned him to step aside -- which the startled minister did -- and took his place. During some moments he surveyed the spellbound audience with solemn eyes, in which burned an uncanny light; then in a deep voice he said:

"I come from the Throne -- bearing a message from Almighty God!" The words smote the house with a shock; if the stranger perceived it he gave no attention. "He has heard the prayer of His servant your shepherd, and will grant it if such shall be your desire after I, His messenger, shall have explained to you its import -- that is to say, its full import. For it is like unto many of the prayers of men, in that it asks for more than he who utters it is aware of -- except he pause and think.

"God's servant and yours has prayed his prayer. Has he paused and taken thought? Is it one prayer? No, it is two -- one uttered, the other not. Both have reached the ear of Him Who heareth all supplications, the spoken and the unspoken. Ponder this -- keep it in mind. If you would beseech a blessing upon yourself, beware! lest without intent you invoke a curse upon a neighbor at the same time. If you pray for the blessing of rain upon your crop which needs it, by that act you are possibly praying for a curse upon some neighbor's crop which may not need rain and can be injured by it.

"You have heard your servant's prayer -- the uttered part of it. I am commissioned of God to put into words the other part of it -- that part which the pastor -- and also you in your hearts -- fervently prayed silently. And ignorantly and unthinkingly? God grant that it was so! You heard these words: 'Grant us the victory, O Lord our God!' That is sufficient. the *whole* of the uttered prayer is compact into those pregnant words. Elaborations were not necessary. When you have prayed for victory you have prayed for many unmentioned results which follow victory--*must* follow it, cannot help but follow it. Upon the listening spirit of God fell also the unspoken part of the prayer. He commandeth me to put it into words. Listen!

"O Lord our Father, our young patriots, idols of our hearts, go forth to battle -- be Thou near them! With them -- in spirit -- we also go forth from the sweet peace of our beloved firesides to smite the foe. O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it -- for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.

(*After a pause.*) "Ye have prayed it; if ye still desire it, speak! The messenger of the Most High waits!"

It was believed afterward that the man was a lunatic, because there was no sense in what he said.

=============================================
So on this Memorial Day, I'll watch the shit-kickin' Dale Ernhardt Jr. tee-shirt wearin' "if your don't like it here move to france" Beorge Bush is GOD, fraudulent patriots wrap themselves in a beer soaked flag while our brave soldiers fight and die so they can continue to be the ignorant belligeant fuckers they are....
On this Memoral Day, I'll think about the new Super WalMart coming soon to Baghdad...
On this Memorial Day, I'll wonder how many of our soldiers will come back in a flag-draped casket that we'll never see.

On this Memorial Day, I make a pledge to you, DU'ers, to take advantage of your vast knowledge, strength, support, power, and positive energy to work endlessly to ensure that by next Memorial Day: WE'll be celebrating the homecoming of our brave fighting men and women, the indictment, trial, and conviction of the criminals who used them to perpetrate crimes against humanity, and the beginning of a new era of peace and prosperity all mankind.

Imagine there's no countries....it isn't hard to do.
Nothing to kill or die for...and no religion too!"

Peace,

to attempt to get us all to forget everything about the previous 8 years...well, everything except 911. They'll make sure we never EVER forget that. And that's without having to deal with a powerful, intelligent, articulate, charismatic, revitalized real American hero. Oh, and also that we have the truth and the FACTS on our side, and they're a bunch of lying sacks of monkey shit.

I think Al sees the devastation the free trade agreements have caused us..shit, Helen Keller could see that. And I've heard him talk about universal health care for all.

I believe he'll use the military wisely, respectfully, and only in matters of either extreme danger to us, or to protect and defend our allies. I don't think he'll be spreading freedom and democracy with 1000lb bombs and depleted U.

as for the arab/israeli conflict. I believe he'll bring back trust and respect and credibility to the discussion, and that's what's been missing all along. and I'm sure, peace won't be far behind

The death-obsessed fascist x-tian taliban flocked to see mel gibson's three-hour beating in 2004...(perhaps that's why all those good x-tians didn't mind all those minor frat house stunts that went on at Sigma Kappa Abu Ghraib-a...maybe it desensitized them.

But does anyone else think that beyond the blatant profiting once again from others' pain and suffering - (even waiting 2000 years to profit from this terrible tragedy wouldn't be long enough for me) that this UNITED 93 is being let out on the American Sheeple at this specific time to be the background of a larger, darker, more sinister Bushie scheme?

I do.

Terra! Fear! Let me attack ____________ or this will happen again! NUKULAR PROLEFBERASHUN! WE"RE GONNA GET DESTROYED IN THE ELECTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What do you think?

You know those "We will never forget" 911 tee shirts and stickers and shit?

Here's the billboard for the new Tragedy Profiteering Snuff Film, Flight 93

"The Passion of the Flight"
"YOU will NEVER forget - not ever, we guarantee it"
