It has been a very very long six years, and I am ecstatic that this regime of destruction is over. The Bush administration and their regressives in congress have torn apart our country and the world. We, as the strong progressive grassroots of the Democratic Party, have seen what horrors an unchecked regressive government can do. There are more outrages than I can possibly list but perhaps:

Iraq, Katrina, lack of leadership on global warming, loss of international respect, secret warrantless illegal wiretapping, voter purging, screwing the middle class in favor of large corporations, illegal internment of “enemy combatants”, attempting to restrict the rights of Americans who happen to be gay, packing our courts, ignoring the problems of hunger and healthcare, implementing the gag rule for grants to fight AIDs, selling off our national parks, and attempting to pull quick political students like the flag burning amendment while people die because we are fighting a useless war in Iraq.

So I say to you all, look what has happened. We have a lot of work to do to reclaim our country. But one thing is for sure: we know what can happen if we don’t fight tooth and nail like every member of the DU has done for the past 6 years. Thanks to the worst administration in history we have come together as a progressive community and formed a strong grass roots base lead by people like TIA and Skinner. So to everyone here, thank you for what you do. It means the world to me and it means a lot to the world.

It could be an independent organization that provides books to people who either can't afford them or can't access them at their local library. The library wouldn't be a physical one, rather an online database of people offering books for people to read and people looking for books. The organization would make sure that the users of the system aren't stealing books and that there are enough books in circulation. Think about it...

Thousands of Americans could read great titles like

+Fiasco
+State of Denial
+Don't think of an Elephant
+1984
+Bushwhacked
+Rogue Nation
+Amred Madhouse/The Best Democracy Money Can BUy
+Progressive Logic
+The Courage of Our Convictions
+It Can't Happen here
etc etc etc

currently I can't find some of these titles at my local library and I really don't want to buy all of them. thoughts?

Dear Alaska,

I'm sorry as Washingtonians we don't write very often, or for that matter think of Alaska very often, but we felt it necessary to get back in touch. While we love the support you guys lend the Mariners and the Seahawks (we can call them the NW Seahawks if you like), we aren't fans of this ted stevens guy. He keeps threatening to come down and bad mouth Maria, which would be fine if he didn't smell so bad. Therefore we humbly ask you that keep him on a leash. Thanks, hoping we don't have to write again soon
