I am afraid what you see in this PPS presentation is only one side of a story.

The problem is not plastics bags but the behaviour of people who use them as well as Government Policies with regard to recycling.

I addressed this in an article I wrote in "Findians Briefings" (Hard Copy) in 1992 and this summary was published on the internet in a 1996 Fortnightly Web issue of Findians Briefings.

Western Recycling Doomed

If you are interested in a detailed discussion on this subject you must look at factors regarding all aspects of use of oil, as gasoline, etc. as well as the amount of energy it takes to produce the plastics bags as against (for example) the consumption of oil to produce a cloth bag.

I am sorry but as I have retired over 5 years ago, I have not kept all the relevant data on this subject which I had prepared in the 1970s and 1980s.

However, if pushed, I would be willing to try to recreate a more balanced picture than the dramatic negative one shown in this Power Point presentation.

As a rider let me say that I spent 35 years as an environmentally conscious Plastics Consultant both in the developed world as well as in the third world.

Hi folks,

Sorry to have been away for so long, but I have been listening. Mike's show was streaming here from 3 am so I chose to listen in bed using my wireless headphones linked to my computer. Then, I had a month of no internet access through broadband, so I was forced to listen using my 56 kbps internal modem, which was SLOW and patchy.

I am almost back online with my broadband now, so I heard Mike's rant about Randi and AirAmerica and also Peter's great show last Friday. Although I am not a Randi fan (as she goes on at times like a record which is stuck in a groove), I have not been an AirAmerica fan after they fired Mike. Randi did not stand up, however, when Mike was fired.

Shows who is the greatest Talk Show Host!!!

It is now 6 am here and we have a blanket of snow on the ground. But it will not last and we should have spring in the air in a week or so.

Hope all of you well.

In The poll being done by The Nation which started on 7th November, on 27th November Dennis has increased his lead over the second, Obama, from 9 to 11%. Dennis still holds 35% of the vote while Obama has dropped from 26% to 24%.

This is the position on 27th November:

Poll | posted November 7, 2007 (web only)
If the Democratic presidential primary were held today in your state, who would get your vote?

Joseph Biden
(676) 3%

Hillary Clinton
(1145) 5%

John Edwards
(2932) 13%

Christopher Dodd
(277) 1%

Mike Gravel
(2454) 10%

Dennis Kucinich
(7872) 35%

Barack Obama
(5600) 24%

Bill Richardson
(1449) 6%

It is clear from every poll that I have seen, DK leads all others.

Is someone still out there claiming I that I am stating a falsehood?

A regular poll targets just about 1000 people in a selected demographic profile with loaded questions and comes to a result which they claim is plus or minus 3 %.

The Nation online poll (with just one single question) would have met that demographic spread at least 10 times over if not 20 times, except that it is restricted to readers on The Nation online.

The margin of error in this poll would be not more that plus or minus 1% of this category of the demography.

The percentages have steadily increased in favour of Dennis. Edwards got s short blip after the debate, but a poll which has been online for over 10 days is far more accurate than a telephone poll with a series of loaded questions.

And do read this alongside 189368 submissions to a form (so far) about issues and then you will see that Dennis is way head and shoulders above any other candidate.

I am not American, I do not live in the US (also never been there), am not White, Black, Muslim or Jew but have an interest in the US election as it impacts the world, not your life-style in the US. But I listen to all major US Liberal Talk Show Hosts and this poll result of The Nation mirrors the opinion of almost every single major Liberal Talk Show Host in the US. So the beef was about online, and then it can be about Liberal Talk Show listeners, etc., etc., except the real error of corporate controlled media polls!

With almost 21000 votes cast in The Nation online poll (started on 7th November), Dennis is way ahead with a 9% lead over his nearest rival Barack Obama. These are the standings on 17th November!

Joseph Biden
(611) 2%

Hillary Clinton
(1062) 5%

John Edwards
(2630) 12%

Christopher Dodd
(260) 1%

Mike Gravel
(2417) 11%

Dennis Kucinich
(7203) 34%

Barack Obama
(5398) 25%

Bill Richardson
(1389) 6%

These are sorts of national the polls that Dennis and his campaign team should be shouting from the rooftops!

It is very obvious who is the candidate of choice of those who can read and think!

Every poll of the intelligentsia has Kucinich far ahead of the rest of the field.

Ans these polls are statistically more exact than any poll conducted by Polling organisations as the spread is of people who care to know the subject.

The best line was however by Kucinich when he said that, unlike others, he had read the patriot Act and that was why he had voted against it.

The rest on the stage were struck dumb by this!

In The Nation online poll with now almost 21000 votes cast, Dennis has an 8% lead over the next person (today November 16, 2007).

Educated and intelligent voters know who is the right candidate that works for the people and not their personal self interest. They know who has the courage even to defy the Democrat leadership! They know who knows what is the pulse of your country!

Dennis has held this lead of almost 8% for almost a week showing that this is not just a passing phase!

Here is the latest position:

Poll | posted November 7, 2007 (web only)

If the Democratic presidential primary were held today in your state, who would get your vote?

Joseph Biden
(599) 2%

Hillary Clinton
(1044) 5%

John Edwards
(2601) 12%

Christopher Dodd
(258) 1%

Mike Gravel
(2409) 11%

Dennis Kucinich
(7111) 34%

Barack Obama
(5359) 25%

Bill Richardson
(1374) 6%

If Americans stopped looking at the corporate funding, whether a person is short, and rather looked at their personal best interest as well as the interest of the world around you, there is no other candidate than Dennis!

Mike Gravel
(2388) 11%

Dennis Kucinich
(6815) 34%

Barack Obama
(5244) 26%

It is truly amazing that with 15804 votes cast in The Nation Poll, Dennis is still holding his lead on the others with 32%. It is also amazing that Hilary Clinton cannot get more that 4%!

Joseph Biden

Hillary Clinton
(674) 4%

John Edwards
(1633) 10%

Christopher Dodd
(184) 1%

Remember that you are up against the Corporate Lobby and the Mainstream Media who do not want someone like Kucinich to get anywhere.

So it rests on you to carry at least 5 more people with you.And they in turn should each take 5 more along.

There is so much power in the Kucinich campaign that you should have no problem carrying AT LEAST 5 good friends along the Kucinich trail!

This is a REAL GRASS ROOTS Campaign, so ithe success rests ON YOU.

Are polls only valid and correct when the mainstream media conducts them?

Will many of you be as an ostrich who lives with its head in the sand.

Those of you who cannot see who is the best candidate of the Democrats and vote your conscience truly amaze me. Unfailingly, Kucinich has won every poll I have seen or heard online. The only one I saw he lost was the rapid 5 minute telephone poll by Thom Hartman, and even there he was second to John Edwards, while others could not even be seen in the distance.

It appears that wherever knowledge is required, Kucinich leads the polls! If not, then it is one of the others.

Here was the breakdown when I saw the poll results. Kucinich, like in the DU Poll recently, has led all the way!

Joseph Biden
(322) 2%

Hillary Clinton
(504) 3%

John Edwards
(1309) 9%

Christopher Dodd
(138) 1%

Mike Gravel
(2137) 16%

Dennis Kucinich
(4388) 33%

Barack Obama
(3381) 25%

Bill Richardson
(1055) 7%

Kucinich stands for a Department of Peace which, in my mind, is the most important thing the world wants today.

Kucinich is the only one who has stood for a single payer system bringing the US in line with every other western industrialised country. (That does not bother me as it is your funeral, otherwise! )

Kucinich has stood for diplomacy above force.

It all depends how you state the stances! You wish to state them in the negative while Kucinich supporters state them in the positive.

In a recent push poll, when looked at in great detail, Kucinich was the most positive on all issues - not the most negative. He stood head and shoulders above everyone else. The closest to him was Chris Dodd!

The only reason this was brought up was because Kucinich had called into question the sanity of your pResident and the Mainstream Media wanted to make him out to be a whacko because he claimed he saw UFOs (which they implied was alien spacecraft and alien beings).

That was the objective but it failed miserably because of the outstanding support Dennis got for his impeachment resolution - the only sane thing which was done by a "Democrat" last week. But the majority of other Democrat politicians showed their lack of moral fibre and stupidity both in the House and the Senate last week!
