In response to a series of posts on my General Discussion topic on English as the US official language, I posted the following in part. I think it is worth posting as a separate topic.

I am disappointed that so many at DU choose to mock rather than ignore.

Cherish your professional liberalism, guys. But liberals who like to weigh all sides and actually think rather than repeat slogans will not long want your company. What makes you think that demeaning discourse and playing Glen Beck in JFK's suit makes you any more special than the average teabagger. But keep at the puerile rampages and soon no one will hazard a comment that does not come out of your talking points.

If this approach to the world represents today's liberals, I am damn glad I am 90 years old and still remember Adlai Stevenson.
