and won't get fixed by McCain's little $5000 crock of shit plan.

This is my personal example, and is a very minor one, but puts everything into perfect perspective about the system.

This summer, my son got sick and was coughing a lot for 2 weeks, so we took him to the doctor. After paying the copay, the doc said he wanted to make sure he didn't have pneumonia (or some such) and wanted a chest Xray. Well, he doesn't do that in his office, so refers it out.

We take him to get the XRay, and the 15 second scan and 5 minute stay confirmed there was nothing unusual. An average day at the office.

Three weeks later, we receive not one, but two bills for a total of $138 for the X-Ray and the reading. We are extremely confused, because this is supposed to be covered by my insurance. After much back and forth with the insurance company, we find out that we are indeed responsible for the $138 bill.

Why, you may ask?

Because, since it was around 5:00 when the doctor ordered the X-Ray, he had to send us to an Urgent Care, where we arrived at 5:05 PM. Since this was "after hours" (after 5) in an "Urgent Care" facility, it was treated as an outpatient hospital visit.

So because of 5 minutes, we are on the hook for the coinsurance for $138, instead of it being a doctor visit and we pay nothing.

Now, tell me that McCain's plan addresses this such issue, which happens all the time, this nickle and diming of America would cease. Not on your life. These are the sorts of things that we are looking to get away from, where the people come first and not the almighty dollar.

Business as usual is not going to cut it.
