Associated Press reprints GOP talking points as "news" about Biden
John Aravosis (DC) · 8/28/2008 08:30:00 AM ET ·

Seriously, guys, why don't you just hire Jeff Gannon and save a lot of money. I mean, you're both clearly in the same profession. And I'm not talking journalism. And remember, this is hardly the first time AP has shown its true color:
Biden hasn't always had kind words for runningmate

By The Associated Press – 13 hours ago

Sen. Joe Biden was going before the Democratic National Convention on Wednesday to make the case for Barack Obama's presidential bid. Biden, selected as Obama's running mate, has offered different messages in the past.

"I mean, you got the first sort of mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that's a storybook, man." — January 31, 2007

"I think he can be ready, but right now I don't believe he is. It's awful hard, with only a little bit of experience to have a clear sense of what you would do on the most critical issues facing us today." — August 2007

"Whoever the next president is, is going to have to know what he or she wants to do beyond a tactical move. In other words, there is a tactic and a strategy. Putting a cap on troops is a tactic, cutting funding is a tactic, making judgment about surging is a tactic, but at the end of the day how are America's interests going to be preserved, enhanced or diminished by whatever we leave behind. ... Let me put it this way, you didn't hear any one of them get in this (war) debate at all until they announced for president. I don't recall hearing a word from Barack about a plan or a tactic." — February 2007

I long for meaningful discussion of our shared values as Americans; I fear only the sound of silence. In the spirit of progressive hope, and while honoring tradition, I poured out my life, heart and soul into the hope of showing the spark of democracy within the paint. I submit my deep longing for the fireworks of a greater democratic deliberation, one that serves us all, as the hoped for result of the sparks in "Freedom in Love."

Before putting paint to canvas for this latest series on the outer path, my preparatory process included: (1) four intense years of research, (2) posting tens of millions of lines of political discourse and images among over 12,000 blog posts, and (3) actively listening to the opinions of others contained in the responses to my posts. I learned much, and the core of this is present in "Freedom in Love."

Notable similarities emerge between my earlier work on the path of the soul and my present work on the path of freedom and democracy. In both, windows represent seeing, or ways out, and pathways symbolize journey. Trees traditionally represent soul, their gnarled qualities a reflection of the forces that buffet them. Birds are wildness, but also observers, the "nonvoters" of nature who still see with dignity and a worthy opinion. Stars and moons are elemental forces of nature and soul-guides. In democracy they are the guide-stars of ideals or principles, lighting the way down the path of democracy. I feel this series of paintings reveals both inner and outer paths as the same journey.
