They are not used to seeing Democratic leaders come there.

DNC's Dean draws big crowd in Guam

:16 p.m. Guam - Guam's Democrats came in full force Thursday night to see National Democratic Committee Chair Howard Dean at the Hyatt Regency's ballroom.

Dean was on the island as guest speaker of the party's Jefferson-Jackson dinner. He went over an array of topics, including a push to have all delegates from U.S. territories vote on the House floor. Dean also talked about war reparations and expressed his support for a measure set to be voted on in the Senate. He left this morning.

He heads to Hawaii tomorrow. He was in Tokyo before that but no info yet.

HONOLULU (AP) - Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean is set to appear Friday night at a private fundraiser for Hawaii Democrats.

The $50-per-person event at The Mandalay Restaurant in Honolulu follows a private Thursday evening fundraiser for the party.

A doctor and former governor of Vermont, Dean came to national prominence during his unsuccessful presidential campaign in 2004.

He became Democratic Party chairman the following year. His visit to Hawaii is part of a promise to visit all 50 states as party leader.

He has popularized the Democrats' 50-state strategy of competing across the country, rather than focusing on states where the party has been historically strong.

He has done a lot of work with Democrats Abroad.
