Bill McKibben, author and founder of 350.org, has ignited a very classy movement with tarsandsaction.org. Hope to see you there. mattvermont

that the government does not now and has not needed an excuse to assassinate us citizens on or off American soil for a very long time. Nobody is saying it is acceptable, but it is the norm.

for infrastructure is a waste. Bridges, flood walls, dams, roads, municipal energy upgrades: insulate, windows, LED lighting, private and public energy incentives, smart grid, train, wind, solar... or more of the same for decades to come.

Visited my farm today to highlight a program that he has helped to fund. At risk youth who find conventional school difficult can participate in the Twilight Program in our local high school. Several kids in this program have been coming to our farm over the past few years to do a variety of projects, from weeding to harvesting. In exchange, we donate some of the food they harvest to local food shelves. In thew fall, they will help harvest a few thousand pounds of extra food for them. Bernie i...

for decades. Two years ago, my father died in a hospice house that my mother helped to create. He was able to stay at home until his last few days. The NY times had a Magazine article today about the backstory that led to the wars connection to slavery. (Link) Such a connection was thrust upon a fe...
