I just had this thought after spending $60 to fill my Dodge Stratus, where is our American ingenuity and know-how? We used to do great things in this country.
John Kennedy in 1961 told us all: "First, I believe that this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the Moon and returning him back safely to the earth. No single space project in this period will be more impressive to mankind or more important for the long-range exploration of space; and none will be so difficult or expensive to accomplish."
What do you know, we did it! Now when Barack gives his speech on Jan 21, 2009 we need him to make the same challenge to America for a new source of fuel to power our automobiles. Does anyone think that the people of America can’t do it? We have a long history of innovation that we have gotten away from. Honda now is distributing fuel cell cars here in America. It is time that we as a country take back innovation from foreign competitors and bring back pride in our manufacturing prowess. If our government made a commitment to GM, Ford, Chrysler to purchase this type of vehicle for their fleets, this would help make it profitable to them, and help rebuild an industry that provides good paying jobs that we can no longer afford to lose. Just a thought.
