significant conclusions. Simple plots that reveal a trend association as this one over time do not support causal explanations. Assuming that this association is causal, compensation would have to explain 100% of the variation in productivity to draw the conclusions in the link. Therefore, graph is interesting but without knowing some of the cleaning, recoding, and control variable (context) used in this data set, it is what it is, merely interesting.

There is a drumbeat of comments and public displays that approach threats of violence and disturbing the peace. This is how they kill our leaders. A pattern of escalating rhetoric framed as political activism that eventually boils over.
We are held hostage by our simplistic understanding of freedom of expression. The net effect is that it depresses public discourse, the opposite effect of what it is intended to do. The founders warned us about this. They specifically expressed concerns...

Wed Sep 02nd 2009, 10:11 AM Expect to see a pattern of x-bushies making inflammatory statements in books only to go on tv circuit tours stating the exact opposite. Considering the ratio of peeps reading the book and peeps on the 24hr news cycle, its a net-message control gain. Maddow killed when see pointed out-you guys just dont get it.

Wed Feb 25th 2009, 07:44 PM I am glad to see others who share the same perspective. It bothers me that we get bogged down in the trivial or inaccurate because many problems are in need of critical attention and thoughtful solutions. Seems like some are spending lots of time wrapping people up "in much to do about nothing" or strangely inaccurate criticisms.
Lot of "high profile" posters who don't get it and post a lot of stuff attacking bipartisanship from just about every angle possible. Some of the logic behind thei...

Wed Feb 25th 2009, 06:54 PM The point is that a lot of concern trolls have been linking the notion of bipartisanship to a host of things like the RR's personhood movement, as if Obama's post partisan ideas have "encouraged" the RR's.
Furthermore, this post does not just deal make theoretical predictions but explains how those predictions are rooted in the realities of the results of the election as well as the republican response to Obama's speak last night.
The difference is this; be concerned or criticism the prez wh...

And this
First, it’s a tactic, folks. There is no evidence that it is about “being acceptable” to republicans or changing liberal goals. If you listened to Obama’s speech tonight, the sub-text (listening between the lines) is quite clearly the most expansive liberal platform in generations. What you are hearing, what is bothering you about Obama is the careful way that he tactfully avoids using traditional liberal frames that the GOP has made an art-form out of destroying. Obama realiz...

Thu Feb 19th 2009, 10:45 PM and why should I not present a dissenting view on Madflorida's post so that readers of the post can hear a different take on the issue if there is truly "no one way to discuss progressive issues.."? I could care less about your personal feelings about my approach. If you think rationally about the issues and care more about them, then your blogo-identity then you will think about what I have to say. Additionally, you don't know either of us, for all you know, either of us could be trolls. Th...

Mon Feb 16th 2009, 05:54 PM the press and speech-Then I want no part of it-because you know-it does not work. This is exactly what the 1st amendment was supposed to protect us from, obviously, that amendment without criminal sanctions to ensure that the spirit of the amendment is upheld-does not work.
The invisible hand of information is not self regulating!
Giving the media a free pass to print or say whatever under the guise of the 1st amendment is a complete bastardization of amendment. But don't take it from me, ...

thanks guys, for keeping us informed, uhh-starting a witch hunt-and leaving us uninformed. Here is a completely unpopular crazy idea. If you advertise yourself as news, you have to present news. Wow, no way, I mean in the post=modernistic world we live in, who can really determine what news really is anyways? Right? I mean it doesn't have a definition that is easily referenced or anything- sooo000 start your fire's, get your religious moralistic charm up, and report away. Tell me everything...

Sat Feb 14th 2009, 02:07 PM start protesting, be disruptive. Take aggressive action against corruption and discrimination. Thats how "the people" have always changed "the system". Organize the poor, march them into a corporation, handcuff yourselves to the people, computers and desks. Anything less would be uncivilized.

Mon Feb 09th 2009, 11:09 PM thanks for the gut check. We are some "attack first, ask questions after we accuse obama of being yellow" dumbass's. Its going to take a couple years to get over the "we are getting sold down the river, attitude". I swear, everywhere we look, we see it. Doesnt matter what it is, we see it.
I just thought about something-how many times we been bitchin about how he's going to screw up and how many times we been right? I don't know, but second guessing obama is like breathing.
