Don't think for one minute activists aren't asking themselves this and saying to themselves :WTF is the point of me and my family giving of our time and money and seeing this as the result; 'this' isn't just the past month, it's issue after issue after issue the Dems take a beating or as a group of politicians say - uhh, can't be done, or wait, just wait, or keeping our powder dry be patient.

A major defeat will be the only thing that wakes them up - Mondale in reverse which sparked the rise of the DLC - if you don't like the direction of the corporate takeover of the Democratic Party it has to suffer a huge defeat and be tagged as a defeat BECAUSE it was taken over by corporate special interests who got our Democratic pols addicted to their campaign cash.

You vote for them again when you hate what they have done to this once great Party - you are enabling them and allowing the Democratic Party to morph into the Republican Party without the religious loons

And that canard about the Supreme Court?

The way Obama is going, if he wins again and gets to make another appointment - he'll give it to the GOP in the 'spirit of bi-partisanship".

Don't say you weren't warned.

Now, if I knew how to post the photo - but the site which did get the photo deserves the hits so for your viewing pleasure

http://thelegalbroadcastnetwork.squarespac...

It all came down to the fact that the women went to High School together and attended a reunion together and couldn't resist having a photo taken together.

I did read the report last night and it prompted my curiosity.

Government is NOT a business and it was never designed to be one; if a comparison needs to be made to help people understand for today's 21st century mindset, a leader could say that Government is actually more like a non profit organization because the money it takes in goes out to fulfill a purpose( whatever the goal of the non profit is) but even that explanation is sort of glib IMHO.

Government is CITIZENS, not shareholders, coming together to accomplish that which they deem important, together, for their security, well being, and general happiness of the whole community.

I live in a town that has Open Town Meeting form of government. My sibling lives a couple of towns away that also has Open Town Meeting form of government.

Yes, we live in New England.

My town has sidewalks and street lights on every street ~we have a Municipal light company( owned by the Town established back in the day when electricity was 'new'. It was something the Town's citizens of yesteryear invested in TOGETHER and we citizens of today reap the benefit of that.

My sibling's town has no sidewalks or street lights and a big Energy Company provides electricity to that Town.

If my sibling and their fellow citizens in that community wanted side walks they have to put a Warrant Article together and present it for consideration to an Advisory Board made up of CITIZENS of that community who are what I call the super activists who provide oversight over all the Town's elected Boards and finances who would examine the benefits/costs/detriments to the Town and who would make a recommendation pro or con to the all those other CITIZENS who would choose to participate during Open Town Meeting.

Arguments would be made: most would be about cost, some would be about the 'look of the project', possibly eminent domain, but what all would recognize is that IF the Article for side walks passed - taxes would go up to pay for them.

People would have come together as CITIZENS and decided something was of value to their community and it was recognized that has a cost attached to it. In effect they vote for have their taxes increase and to ever more change the character and look of their community.

If you have read this far( thank you) what I am trying to say is that I see NO ONE at the federal level making the case for projects that help the community.

Eisenhower got the Federal High way system enacted.

Kennedy started us to the moon.

LBJ promoted the tenets of his Great Society.

The Federal Government is Open Town Meeting writ large But NO ONE today at the Federal Level is making the case for initiatives; it's as if all those in attendance at Open town Meeting are actively dismantling government and saying NO or it can't be done, I don't want to be a citizen any more = F**K IT - PRIVATIZE EVERYTHING - we will give our tax money to corporations and turn over the ability to govern ourselves to CEO's and Boards of Directors.

Any jackass can kick down a barn door, it takes thought effort and care to build a barn.

Or maintain one.

I don't see anyone today taking care of the barn - that saddens me tremendously.

struck by my Repug neighbors tight fistedness when it comes to spending and their absolute deafness on the subject of W's spending habits

http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20060314/bs_af...

Snow has issued increasingly urgent warnings to Congress that the statutory debt limit of 8.184 trillion dollars will be hit this week, and that the government will then lose its borrowing power.

Once the US government reaches the ceiling, it comes under threat of defaulting on its debts and can lose the ability to raise future credit on the capital markets.

Last week, Snow said new issues of federal debt instruments would only raise enough cash to keep government operations financed until mid-March.

But Democratic members of Congress are said to be balking at increasing the debt limit unless the administration of President George W. Bush, which has overseen a huge rise in the US budget deficit, curbs its appetite for funds.

You know what Repugs excel at?

Changing the subject when the conversation does not reflect well on them or their political philosophy and when reality highlights their complete inconsistencies
