after the 160 pic yahoo slide show, this struck me as the best at DC

Reuters - Sat Jan 27, 5:03 PM ET Sheila McJade of Philadelphia holds up a sign calling on U.S. President George W. Bush to send his twin daughters to serve in Iraq as thousands of anti-war protesters rally on the National Mall in Washington, January 27, 2007.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20070119/pl_af... (AFP) - Grandmothers Molly Klopot and Betty Brassell came from New York to protest against the Iraq war before the US Congress.

"We are going to monitor our elected representatives to see if they do what we voted for them to do," said Klopot, 87, who says she has been a militant for more than 60 years.

She and Klopt were arrested on October 17, 2005, with 16 other women, aged 59 to 91, when the group tried to enlist in the US military in New York's Time Square to replace grandchildren who had been deployed in Iraq.

The arrests gave birth to The Granny Peace Brigade. Now, more than a year later, the pair were still clamoring for recognition from the government

King is strongly supported here. I think this is probably the toughest challenge he's ever gotten, and I think Dave did an amazing job.

Thanks for the responses;

He does have strong support, in times past when the lines were such he was my congressman he was the 1st politician I wrote a thank you hand written post card to, thanking him for being the only repug to vote against Clinton's impeachment. The last time my Dem supporting union listed the politicians our PAC supports he was like the only repug on the list. Dave was the 1st to oppose him I donated to, as this would be his only possible real challenge King ever faced, when I donate I give an amount just under the $200 public reporting limit, I like to keep my support private.

I didn't hear of any widespread dirty tricks such as gemdem reported in the 26th

thanks again

from the other thread it looks like DU'er PennyK worked on the Mejias campaign. I only donated and could not spend time getting rid of what used to be my congressman before new lines were drawn. I do realize the new lines were drawn to make sure he had the best repub district he could get, besides being the typical incumbent that is next to impossible to get rid of.

is there anything that could have helped Mejias ???

thanks

Lets go back to the days of having the people view death sentences. I'm confident it will be shown live in the arab world, public executions are not uncommon.

I'm not a supporter of death sentences, There may be some cases where they are justified, this may be one of them, I didn't write this as I believe this result is an excuse for the mess the USA is in with IRAQ. I wrote this as there may be some ( minor ) effect on the death sentences we give out too freely in many states in the USA

The hanging should be televised LIVE to the USA
