I realize they have abandoned everything that I supported them for. I see there are proposals for a workers party or a people's party begining to come out of this betrayal by both parties, and I believe the time has come to stop talking and do it.
The Democrats have left us-it is not a matter of us leaving them.

If you work for a living, are middle class, a union member or unemployed, a progressive or leftist, the Democratic Party is not interested in your life or needs-only in your money and vote.

It is time we found a new voice and organize to make ourselves heard.

from Germany in 1920. Part of Mom's family are Osage people, and have been here for quite a few years now...

Honestly, I don't know what is happening here now. I believe we are seeing the rule of ignorance and bigotry being cultivated by the extremely rich simply because they want more money and overall political control of the whole country with nothing left for the rest of us. I believe they are using mainly the GOP to do this, but have also co-opted the media, especially TV, to help advance their cause, and to a lesser degree have strongly influenced the Democratic party simply by moving the entire process quite far to the right.
The GOP made this promise in the Nixon era..."This country is going so far to the right, you won't recognise it." They have NEVER stopped working at this since then, while the Left has faded away to the inefective position it has today. We "progressives" are shadows of what that name once meant in the US, and I personally find it shameful that so many think they are progressive without knowing the reality of that position in American history. Progressives FOUGHT for freedom and dignity for the workers and the average person and won what measure of that we once had by hard struggle and commitment and dedication.
Progressives today are caught up in a struggle with each other, and are not at all unified against our real and traditional enemy the Right as tool of the rich.
I have hope that the current beginnings of a class struggle in the US will make a positive impression on today's progressives and I hope that this will not all be forgotten and just dissipate...if it does, our hope for a better country goes with it.

Just my opinion, of course.

a commitment to attend a rally in DC...turns out it was for a former aide who was running for Michael Steele's job as head of RNC and who did not get it. Reports from his staff state Boner spoke at the rally-for all of 3 minutes-then went elsewhere to watch the AZ service and President Obama's remarks on TV.

What is it with this guy? Is he so filled with hate he can't stand to be included with the President or other Democrats? Did he think he was scoring points with the ultra rightists? I know he is not politically stupid, and I know he must have some agenda in all this...any ideas?

both as labor and as a factory planning designer for almost 20 years. My first "real" job was at the Bethlehem Steel plant here in PA. I pointed out many broken windows to my foreman, and he told me, "Kid, some of those windows were broken since before you were born." The company put NO money into modernizing that plant since WWII ended. Today, part of it is a casino, and parts are various shops and markets...most of it is waste ground. This has been happening for over 60 years, and I can not see much indication that manufacturing will ever return to the US.

The biggest problem is there has been little real effort to replace what has been relocated...the politicians seem to feel that the US economy is so huge it can absorb endless neglect and abuse without negative effect. I know of NO politician or group that is trying to find real answers to these problems, and that in itself is our biggest problem.

Tucson-they will just continue to blame the left, pot, etc, and some of them seem to think it was a good thing...
RWers are NOT moved by things like this-they have been blowing up churches and killing "liberals" since the 1950's, and to expect tham to change is not realistic.
They are not "misguided"...
They are trash.

in exchange for security and a decent benefit package. The perception that we get rich is political manipulation.
In PA, civil service employees are forbidden by law to engage in public political activity other than voting-even political signs in your yard and bumper stickers can get you fired.
We are perpetual targets for the elected politicians who choose to use us as such and we have NO legal way of fighting back-other than voting.

Bullshit will reign supreme.

Yeah, not voting was a great idea, wasn't it?

later covered by others, Train Kept a Rollin';

Note that lead guitar is Jeff Beck-Jimmy Page is playing bass.

Beck informed the band he was leaving, Page started on bass to get ready to replace him. Page had not played with a band in some time, spent the previous few years as a studio musician.
Later, Page bought the rights to the Yardbirds name after the band fell apart, and started the "New Yardbirds" to finish the previously booked concert appearances...this band changed their name to Led Zeppelin...

New Yardbirds live -London, 1968- "I Can't Quit You..."

There seems to be less than 10 years total since 1776 when we have not been involved in some kind of war somewhere...Can we stop anytime soon?

Afghani Army's best units are "lazy" drug users and bad soldiers, while Taliban is very well trained, skilled and motivated and respected by US forces.
By staying in Afghanistan, we are doing exactly what the enemy wants us to do - waste lives and wealth, destroy the US by breaking our spirit and our economy in a pointless and destructive war...Bush jumped right into the trap, and if you recall McCain's campaign he is ready to continue the war for 100 years if "necessary".

We MUST get our "leaders" to re-think what they are doing and get out of this war ASAP, not in a few years, but in 2 years or less.

Thanks for your time.
