Busy growing her business at live events, but folks can always find her --- hippywife at etsy. She's whipping up something unique for me --- as I type.

I surely miss her here at C&B. But it doesn't sound like she will be back anytime soon.

So we all should maybe just cook and bake to our abilities and we'll just wish her well, for now, eh?

And didn't bother to catch her shows, maybe for that reason. I caught a Food Network preview and wasn't interested.

I like her blog and pics and recipes. That's enough for me.

Best wishes to her though.

"If American workers are being denied their right to organize when I'm in the White House, I will put on a comfortable pair of shoes and I will walk on that picket line with you as president of the United States."

-- Barack Obama, quoted by Slate, while making a campaign speech in 2007.

Bread and cookies is what I recall. I still have my little kid rolling pin, lol.

7th grade Home Ec was a little more advanced and I was hooked.

You are very lucky! I lived in Lynnwood and worked downtown Seattle for a few years late 1970s's - 80's. Man, I loved that time and place living there. Enjoy all!

Seafood ...yum.

I used to fish and do photography off the Everett pier and met so many folks who could identify the fish I caught. A squid one time. Flounder was a favorite. Fun folks!

Good memories

Recently, my put-together dish like that wowed my Tex-Mex relatives. I just used all the leftovers that they brought the evening before --- and cooked for a morning brunch.

Just layered salsa, the tortillas, leftover meat, cheese, peppers, sour cream, olives and just layered together like lasagna. Baked for awhile.

One of my Texan cousin just raved. And that's her way of cooking.

Creative cooking is my thing

I could never duplicate that meal we all 20+ shared because I didn't write it down. What a shame on my part.

Not a bad idea! I will ponder that.

Pondered - nope ain't gonna work for me. I am so disorganized, while he is the organized one. Oh well, he unloads and puts away, so what do I care?

But I want my spice cabinet in some order - it never actually IS - but I have a way to know where it is, kinda like knowing my messy desk: I know exactly where everything is.

Then there's keeping track of what's in the half-door fridge freezer and the upright freezer. I kept a list at first, then lagged. Now I have no idea. That's my project to work on.

Don't ya just love that place?

That woman in the pic certainly was like one of my Grandmas. Not only did she survive the Great Depression, but raised 8 kids on the farm. My Dad told me that living on a farm wasn't bad at all as far as food goes - they had it. Eventually, they lost the farm. Grandpa turned to logging up north, then carpentry, and moved to the city and made a good life for his family. Beautiful home.

My other Grandma (after having 8 kids) got pneumonia and died at a young age, so I never met her. My Grandpa from that side soon gave up, lost their farm and turned to drink (as was the phrase at the time). The kids (my Mom) had to quit school and get jobs to survive.

The Great Depression era and survival - and here we are again.
