A House Democrat is signaling that he believes he has the path forward for policymakers squabbling over how to deal with tax revenues in a deficit deal.

Rep. John Tierney of Massachusetts has announced that he is introducing legislation Monday to get rid of close to 30 tax credits and deductions he calls wasteful, saving roughly $60 billion in the first year and some $483 billion over a five-year span.

“Any serious and responsible plan to tackle the deficit must address tax expenditures. Legislation I am introducing today gives negotiators a clear blueprint for how to proceed on this critical issue,” Tierney said in a statement.

I am very happy to call him both "Congressman" and "friend". He really does get it!
