"Yet another writer from a lefty paper is here to tell us all that McCain and all his followers are racists. You see, if McCain wins, Steve Kraske imagines in his latest column that all blacks will feel that Jim Crow is back and the rest of the Democratic Party will be “angry at the world.” So, a McCain win will be the return of Jim Crow? Isn’t that an awfully irresponsible lie to promulgate, Mr. Kraske?"
"Kraske ruminates about how horrible it will be if McCain beats The One at the polls on Tuesday. But, he gets quite a lot of his analysis wrong, not surprisingly..."

It's class stupid, not race. Why Warner Todd Huston is another fuckwit. From American Conservative Daily, Warner Todd Huston goes after KC Star writer Steve Kraske. Kraske discusses the Jim Crow tactics of the McCain campaign. Now, before I go any further, I'm watching a rerun of yesterday's Hardball where Chris Matthews says of McCain, “I think he should be given the Nobel Peace Prize...for not bringing up Jeremiah Wright.” Cut to commercial. It's a commercial about the Obama/Wright relationship. This is something I'll return to in a few moments.
First off, in case you didn't know, Huston is a Mooney. His work is published in The Washington Times and is published on the above mentioned website which runs the slogan, "Your daily dose of conservative offsets to global liberal whining.” Is this all conservatives know how to do? Kinder-level green tongues stuck out their mouths? I think so, because it would seem that for every well-reasoned, fact-based argument from the Right, there's about 1000 baby wipe assholes to drown it out.
To wit: Huston goes to berating Kraske on the firm foundation of claims like,
“First of all, George W. Bush had a great record of working hand-in-hand with Democrats in Texas. But, once he got to Washington, the Democrats there slapped his hand away and steadfastly refused to work with him on anything.”
Hey, Huston, remember a little thing called Iraq? Yes, I saw Democrats just lining up to pop Bush's little skull like bubble wrap on that one. These are the kinds of arguments conservatives rely upon, and this is why they no longer have any credibility.
He goes on to say,
“Secondly, McCain also has a long record of working across the aisle. And, if he wins, you can bet the only reason he may not be able to replicate that record is because, once again, the cynical partisans in Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi’s offices will NOT reach out to grasp McCain’s hand. “
Yes, Pelosi is such a radical that she immediately took impeachment off of the table—impeachment for one of the most corrupt presidents in American history. Again, more misinformed premises to support limp argumentation. Is anyone surprised, though?
Through all of these awful arguments, one has to wonder, is it even worth pointing out the obvious anymore? According to polls, yes. Over 40% of the American population adheres to guff.
Let's cut to the bone of this post, that Huston rejects the idea that this campaign has been a racist one.
Well, that's sort of a red herring. True to the Republican strategy of race-baiting, Huston's article doesn't mention race a whole lot, except to reject the notion that it has been a significant part of the Right's strategy. Even though the title centers on the refutation of racism, evidence proves otherwise-- the campaign policies lovingly embraced by McCain & Co shout crudely like gunfire from rooftops: 'Obama is the OTHER.' Shocker that there's really little discussion of the reality that McCain's campaign has copiously employed racist tactics.
Fail.
For all you conservatives out there, the best thing to do as far as looking at resentment, is to look at class, not race. There's a plural culture out there leaving you in the dust, and its bound more by economic realities than racial propaganda.
Some friends of mine in Birmingham, Alabama once did a documentary exploring race relations in that city in the 90's, whether things had actually improved. In it, there was a pastor that wisely stated (paraphrasing), 'It's not racial divisions, but class division. When the single white mother that works at Krystal starts talking to the single black mother that works at Krystal, that's when you better start to worry.”
Indeed, this economic collapse and the gaudy, nauseating flow of money from the public to the elite (insert article cited before here at empire burl.) has done nothing if not bind together people of all races along class lines. For this, I offer a counter-intuitive thanks to the speculative economy and its oligarchs.
So, to return now to the previously mentioned Jim Crow allusion, you have to be a smarmy fuck to deny the reality that the McCain camp, in a not so astonishingly hypocritical move, has used race as a tactic of division. They've done it blatantly, and they done it in ways that mirror the infamous “Southern Strategy.” They've done it by phone, just like they did to McCain in 2000, and they've done it by mail. They've done it in not condemning those who scream “nigger” out at Palin rallies, and by not condemning threats and shouts of “kill him.” They've done it in a myriad of ways...
And of course, they, and their brainless bot supporters, condone it and deny it. How far we've come that over 40% of the population condones not only racism as a political strategy, but mass murder in the name of capitalism for wanting to reward a criminal party with another executive term.
As for Jeremiah Wright and the things he's said, far be it from me to pass judgment on someone, a black man, who actually lived through racial discrimination and apartheid. Perhaps I'd be saying "Goddamn the U.S.A.," too.
In fact, when I see murdered civilians, murdered in the name of Democracy, I say 'Goddamn the U.S.A.,' now. And goddamn those I mention above who would reward murder with another presidential pass.
