A very... uhh... unorthodox attack on the NY-based establishment. I especially enjoyed the Lion King one. I did some inquires and contacted DC-based writer Scott McLemee among others and found out that a) this isn't a parody b) when they mention that they are "A Republican Journal" at the end of their Lion King parody they are referring to "republicanism," they are a left-wing print magazine. (heavily marxist/radical from what I can gather).

Kudos for the campaign.

the last kid in the video was the only one with a coherent point (I kid... but not really).

RACISM hides behind nationalism--- its universal, that's why the left should NEVER support national socialist states or states built upon an ethnic identity EVER, it breeds the same despicable feelings.

We're suppose to be the internationalist! That's the message of Max B's video

Good read, there were more fuming responses from Arab writers that I respect, but since I'm an optimistic, my own view is closer to this account.

Obviously to me it is, but remember its a oil wealth awash country, so yes, this form of socialism can work, public spending can be complemented by oil wealth to help the people of Venezuela and through Latin America (via Chavez's efforts)

The Cooperative, anarcho-syndalist portion of the revolution is the interesting part for me.

Decent read, I would advise you guys to check it out.

They want to exert control over CIA and US government sponsered efforts to undermine their democratically elected regime.

You obviously never struggled in your life the way the people of Venezuela have, you obviously havent read about Venezuela and the plight of neo-liberalism that scourged them for so long.

What other outrages has he committed? He gave AMNESTY to the people who couped him! He is an elected leader in a democracy! He gave low-cost fuel and gas to the people of Latin America and the poor people of the United States of America.

He has taken the oil wealth in Venezuela that once funded a few select elites and spent it on social welfare and eliminating poverty which has dropped dramatically under his leadership.

Furthermore the cooperatives that characterize 21st century socialism in Venezuela give power to workers to control the means of production through worker's council and community councils... that is real democracy.

Chavez is not "recreating communism" 21st century socialism is more of a social democratic movement (go figure with the name) with lots of a grassroots anarcho-syndalist elements like worker own cooperatives which put powers away from corporate bosses and into the hands of ordinary people... its that the purest form of democracy?

He has a 72 percent approval rating and was elected resoundingly twice, and has achieved great legislative victorys. He was also swept back into power after a US sponsered, private-media backed coup attempt against his regime, where the ORDER was given to kill him, but the young officers in charge of guarding him refused.

Now we must be careful about the cult of personality around him, but his ideas have put oil revenue in Venezuela to good use helping with poverty and other issues.

I spend WAY too much time defending Chavez on this board. You guys are suppose to be progressives, READ up on Venezuela and him, at the very least you'll all have a nuanced idea about the new left in Latin America.

Either they are not economically progressive and don't seek social justice, or they are misinformed.

Im not a huge fan of the authoritarian left (better then then despotic right though), but Chavez was democratically elected and has in excess of 70 percent approval in his own country. He's the primary combater of neo-liberalism in our hemisphere.

I must say though, I dont like his friendly-ness with the despotic theocratic regime in Iran (which actually does have some democracy in it, believe it or not), but I realize its a relationship out of mutal-economic benefit and not of idealogical agreement.

Please explain your posistion. I keep an open mind and I am willing to listen.

Dont believe all the right-wing neo-liberal propaganda he is truely a man fighting for the best interest of Venezuela. Now I believe some of his rheotoric is over the top and I fear a cult of personality that may surround him in the future, but him, Ortega and the other new left/center-left leaders of Latin America offer a truly great hope for their nation.

Neo-Liberalism has failed them, the wealth of the Venezuelan oil supplies should be spent on social infrastructure not on funding the rise of a domestic elite and western oil tycoons. Chavez has been spending it on social welfare, infrastructure and fighting poverty.

What's wrong with that?

How many wars has Chavez taken Venezuela down? How many people has he thrown in G. Bay? None and None.

Its high time for the AMERICAN left to start supporting the left in other nations in their struggle against our common enemy... neo-liberalism and the "greed is good" idea
