Sun Dec 21st 2008, 11:56 AM I am in total agreement with the anger regarding Warren from not just one perspective but two. The first has to do with the inclusion of Warren because of his views, but the second and more important is the legitimization of religious dogma that purely from it's own beliefs seeks to remove basic human rights from a group of people, whether this is the gay community or women or people who's religious views do not agree with the dogma in question.
I've had enough of the rabid family values evangelists having any hand in the shaping of our country's policies. As an agnostic, it riles me that we would choose to include the greatest of all evils, or that we even are forced to choose at all. There is no benefit in allowing a voice at the national table to those who would destroy this country's values, science and any chance at winning our seat at the world table of enlightenment, if there is such a thing. Bottom line. The views are not legitimate. Period. If I am involved in a religion whose belief system states that another human being is less worthy of rights then I am, and I claim my belief system to include an all powerful, perfect, infinite God, immediately my views become logically, scientifically and religiously invalid. ANY concept of an infinite GOD that then goes on to direct man in a less then perfect way is no longer perfect. It then is nothing more then the imperfect mental construct of man the animal that can be explained at a baser level if one reviews the societal behaviors of our cousin primates. Granted, it is on a smaller scale, but it is always about power seeking to keep power by ensuring others have less power. To those who do believe in GOD and wish to validate their faith, this is not the way to do it. Doing so makes it s clan belief, for your own clan. And if the objective does not lead to enlightenment for all then it's objective has more in common with the objective of war in the name of keeping your own clan powerful. To that end, it does not have any right to call itself spiritual in any way and by believing in clan dogma, neither do those who accept it. Any prayer to GOD that has as it's basis the wish of one group of people to have power and more rights then another group of people, is an insult to the very concept of GOD and should be looked upon as blasphemy in that it demeans the very concept. Mon Dec 01st 2008, 06:41 AM that scared the hell out of me! It was at a local football stadium where the game had been way over sold, and I am glad at that time I had not read about Hillsbourgh.
We were packed - smashed into little areas with the only outlet being a small opening into the stadium and pushed in that direction. People were smashed against the walls. You couldn't get out even if you wanted to turn around and leave. It took everything I had to hold down the panic that started to rise. I didn't want to be there. Once in the stadium again, too many people for the aisles. At one point I was literally pushed over a railing and would have fallen if my fiance had not grabbed me. Consequently, we just waited for the crowd to get under control and then we left as fast as we could get out of there to avoid another mob scene. So in this situation you had fans who wanted to see the game, and people who wanted to get the hell out of there, but could not. Yes there were drunks that just pushed and didn't seem to care making things worse, and dangerous. I was so scared someone would be hurt, and I was scared that I was going to be crushed, but I couldn't do a damned thing but try to keep my head above the mob, and try to keep myself from being smashed against a wall or pushed over a railing. So - were some in the mob to blame in this situation? Well there were some that made things worse for sure, but they would have been harmless if they hadn't been crushed into the mob with the rest of us. In the Walmart situation, after the surge started, the mob situation itself is to blame. Prior to that, just wanting to get into the store is not a crime, just like wanting to go to a football game is not a crime. Once it is a mob though, your choice is taken away. Even if at that point, you wanted to stop it, you couldn't. You would get crushed like the poor man who tried to stop the stampede. That's my opinion.

Sat Nov 01st 2008, 11:24 AM I voted weeks ago in Memphis Tennessee. I waited for at least an hour before I could vote. The line was very long, it was raining and cold. However, no-one budged which is a good sign. I could afford to take off work early to stand in this line. But I bet that I was one of the few standing there that could have said that. It was around 3pm. I looked around me at the line of people, majority black in this neighborhood. I was probably one of about perhaps two in the entire line that was white.
The church where I voted was surrounded with McCain Palin signs. You don't see many Obama signs in this part of town. There in none in my majority black neighborhood. To date, I have seen only one on my way to work. And to date, I have only seen one Obama sticker on a vehicle again on my way to work. My guess is that people don't want to be threatened because of what they believe in. McCain supporters are verbal, in your face, insulting, caustic, and yes, racist, whereas it seems like, based on my observations where I work, that there is a silent majority of Obama supporters that just smile, don't say a word, don't show anything, quietly do their best to ignore the ugliness around them. And let's face it, they are experts in this red state of Tennessee. Back at the church were I stood to vote, most comments, "I've waited all my life for this!", beaming smiles as people walked out of the church after voting. They greeted people they knew. There were knowing hugs and hand shakes and pats on the back. I felt great to be there. It was the most wonderful feeling of camaraderie in this historic time, and I felt privileged to be able to witness the hope that was visibly drawn on the faces around me. My life is way too busy. I rush from work, to school, to daily chores only to repeat the same week in and week out, with hardly a breath allowed for reflection. But the day I voted seemed like a time where everything in the world had stopped. To see that look of hope, that look of pride, the tears in the eyes. You don't see that everyday. And you can feel it. The memory will be with me for a very long time! Posted by ravencalling in General Discussion (1/22-2007 thru 12/14/2010)
Sun Oct 26th 2008, 09:26 AM Your tack in your interview with Senator Biden was just too obviously similar to the nasty robo-calls that both parties have repudiated.
So, are you going to continue to be a hack for the minority ultra-right wing mis-information jockeys? Even after the election is won based on truth, showing that this tack is not what the country wants? That job is of course up to you, and I know jobs are scarce in this country right now. I suppose I wouldn't blame you if you did continue, even against your conscience, because I bet you are turning a pretty penny at the moment, and hey, if it were me, It would be a tough decision if I had a family and my own future to think about. Yes, I would hate myself, .. but it's sort of like deciding to be a high end prostitute, and all that cash is just too hard to turn one's nose up at, even when you know that what your doing is frankly trawling the lower 1% of the lower underbelly of society. I just pity you Ms West. There is no way that you can believe the crap you are being given. I know you went to college - right? I know that you had to write papers in college that showed credible evidence backing your position. Senator Biden asked if you were kidding. He laughed at you, and he probably pities you as well for having the job of resurrecting McCarthyism in order to scare those who never went to college, and who have no clue regarding the history of such tactics. But you are an entertainer in your current capacity. The audience you are a prostitute for are quite ugly in their hatreds and vulnerabilities but they have the cash you need. You overlook this as all prostitutes do, and tell your feverish, hate filled, ignorant and grotesquely twisted clients how right they are and how sexy their swollen red faced hate mongering is. You have a very strong stomach Ms. West. I hope that you donate a portion of the money you earn to those socialistic causes you are ranting about. This will help those late night retching sessions you must have after fulfilling you job duties.

Sat Sep 20th 2008, 02:34 PM Hands down, from an issues, experience and intelligence standpoint, Biden will win any debate with Palin, however this is not an issue driven country, at least in many areas right now, even though we are suffering the worst financial meltdown since the depression.
Yesterday I overheard co-workers discussing Palin. These are women. They didn't speak to ANY issues regarding Palin, simply that to them she is "Real", not a "Phony". As I think they relate to her MORE when they find out she HAS issues or problems. I know, crazy. Anyways, if Biden creams Palin, which he will, I am worried about this female sympathy reaction. Which is crazy, and stupid I know. But I remember similar reactions regarding Hillary. When a strong man debates a woman, even a very strong woman, it almost looks like an unfair fight, because it plays to our deeply held emotional gut reactions regarding sex and sexism. Especially if the woman shows any sort of weakness. Biden comes on strong, as he should, but look.. Palin is not up to this debating Biden. We know this. It's going to be a massacre. In this country of emotional immaturity, I consider the idiots voting against their best interests due to their media supported ignorance as being a huge debacle because in their ignorance they have allowed and continue to allow the collapse and destruction of the United States. They threw themselves into the volcano of sacrifice to the upper 1% long ago, along with their children, grandchildren and in the bargain all of us as well. I believe we are going to win this. But after the debate, I will not be surprised if Biden is actually demonized for his intelligence, experience and his understanding of the issues. Remember all the negative media regarding Obama's so called arrogance towards Hillary? And here, we will be like Yeah! He Won!.. Then we will be like WTF when the Media hits. Someone please tell me I am wrong. Posted by ravencalling in General Discussion (1/22-2007 thru 12/14/2010)
Sat Jul 05th 2008, 02:48 PM Enterprise had no more economy vehicles available. Only choice was the Dodge Durango or a larger Dodge Ram truck. Vehicle came empty, and we were told that it had to be filled up. $25.00 did good to put a quarter of tank in the vehicle, so my guess is, it will be well over $100.00 to fill the stupid thing up. Fiance tried to trade it to the elderly couple who had a mini-van instead. Think they just sort of snickered and shook their heads no. Then my fiance told the employee, that they couldn't give the damn things away much less rent them. Unfortunately for us, this is what we are stuck with.
Okay - down to nothing on vehicles. How can we make the most of this disturbing event? I have to drive the monstrosity to work until at least Monday when I get my hybrid back.. Should I don a cowboy hat? Have an I Luv Amurika sign on it? Ima voting for Bush again? LOL. Sorry this isn't funny but trying to make the best of a bad situation. is the media allowing these complete nutjobs any credibility. It is the Media that has committed the crime. Dobson otherwise would be relegated to the back fields of some community tent where he could spout his stupidity without challenge.
To give any of these whack-o evangelicals media credible air time is the strangest twist I have seen in the last 10 years. I used to sometimes see them on the tube and I would watch from sheer fascination and shock, the hair and clothing and strange words of these guys as if they were from an alien race. Especially the lady with the Easter pink bee-hive hairdo, whose husband looked exactly like the modern representation of Satan without the horns and red skin. These are side-show carnies .. representatives of a strange and foreign sub-culture, preying on the most vulnerable in society.. These are the types of people you DON'T want to run into when you are on a camping trip in the wilds. They belong in those slasher B movies, not in mainstream media. These are the people whom you wrest your poor grandmother away from with a family intervention because she has decided that sending money to them will ensure she is not sent to hell. The fact that they are given voice by the media is one of the best examples of fact one can point to, proving that the media has lost all credibility and has more in common with the dime-store magazine where you see headlines like an alien ate my mother-in-law. I have no worries regarding Obama's response, and am glad he IS responding. I am just embarrassed for our country that he feels he even has to respond. It is time we put these sub-culture, mega-phone, nut cases out of business. If there is a cause or organization that has this specifically as their goal, please sign me up!
