(Digg it.)

On March 25th, the BBC brought its lively "debate" TV program The Doha Debates to Washington's Georgetown University, to tape an episode called "Time to get tough on Israel".

The format consists of the moderator, Tim Sebastian, and a set of panelists who verbally duke it out. The panelists on this episode consisted of Michael Scheuer,Avraham Burg, Alan Dershowitz, and Dore Gold.

Gold and Dershowitz basically argued that Israel should be left alone to do whatever. Burg and Scheuer argued that the U.S. needs to step up and be "tougher" with Israel, using various forms of pressure to bring Israel to the bargaining table with the Palestinians to negotiate. "Tougher" may have been the wrong word, and there was some discussion on vocabulary.

In my opinion, Avraham Burg ruled the debate. So I extracted some of the best bits from the debate with him talking, and stitched it together into this 10 minute YouTube bit. For a while, you can watch the entire 45 mins of this Doha Debate at the DD website;

At the end of the debate, the Georgetown audience was asked to vote;

"An often heated Doha Debate at Georgetown University in which a 450-strong mainly student audience voted 63-37 percent in favour of a new "get tough on Israel" policy reflected a sharp mood swing in America, commentators said."
