A billboard in Orange County, FL is the newest nauseating display of propaganda that has popped up in this election. Shown below, the billboard is the brainchild of a conservative website, (Link).
(Image)
This billboard is absolutely horrifying, and seemingly blames the democrats for the 9/11 terror attacks. But that makes sense, right? NO!!! Hell no. They happened on Bush's watch, with a Republican Congress, and the Clinton administration had warned them that this could and probably would ...
I have to be honest - I don't know how to feel this morning. I'm torn between crushing depression and the sort of giddiness that makes me want to create and then perform a happy dance. Rove is gone and that is exceptional, but...well...
Last night, while having coffee at my in-laws, my wife's aunt, a teacher in the Hartford school system dropped a bomb on me. In order to better teach to the tests so they don't lose their funding, Hartford primary schools have eliminated Social Studies.

Our kids are getting dumber, fatter, and more complacent. Now, without judging, simply sit back and look at that objectively and try to figure out why. Could it be because the American lifestyle is just too complex and busy to actually make sure that we are educating our children or feeding them properly, or teaching them how to go out into the world and be useful to society? Perhaps. That is part of it, and no small part at that, but kids today have another target for their blame.
In nearly...
These days, despite a clear majority in the House, and a slim one in the Senate, it seems as if the Democrats are doing just that. In November 2006, the country stood up and commissioned the Democrat ass kicking squad, giving them clear marching orders - stop this war and this runaway train of an administration.
Out of the gate the Dems came on strong, with hearings for Gonzo-gate and bluster about cutting off funding for this disaster of a war. Immediately, however, the Repug propaganda mach...
Over the past 48 hours a significant number of Mosques have been bombed around Iraq. First, it was the Shiite mosque in Samarra, for which al Qaeda took responsibility. After that, apparently the Shiites took it personally and decided to begin bombing Sunni mosques. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't Sunnis and Shiites both Muslim?
Now before that is answered by someone much smarter than me, I must point out that I do not clearly understand the fundamental differences between Sunnis and S...
No, it wasn't Ann Coulter naked...it was on a car parked in from of a Catholic Church that read:
You can't be Catholic AND Pro-Choice
This offended me, and I'm not sure why. I'm not Catholic, so this doesn't apply to me, but I find fundamental flaws in that statement. I understand the Catholic Church's view on abortion...I disagree with it, but I understand what they're saying. To them, life is life, no matter at what point you're talking about. It is an argument that will never cease. I ...
Both the House and Senate have now approved the Emergency war funding bill, and will be sending it to Dumbyass for approval. Bush has already stated over and over that he will veto any such legislation that calls for a timetable. His veto will effectively end chances for this specific bill to be passed, as it is doubtful that the Dems can muster the 2/3 vote to override.
In the middle of this whole shitstorm is the safety of our troops overseas fighting this pointless war. One of those soldi...
I agree with Ann Coulter...on her take on the Imus debacle.

I'm sorry to say it, and frankly, I think I just threw up a little thinking about it, but for once, she writes not only intelligently, but also with foresight and perspective.
It is definitely the first time this has ever happened, and will probably be the last, but it's out there now.
I still believe her to be a deplorable human being regarding her opinions on just about everything else, but here, we agree.

And we all know it. He only cares about the troop withdrawal part of the bill. Every spending bill in the history of the world has had pork in it. And until now, he's approved them. The only difference is the troop withdrawal provision. He's making a big deal of the pork in the bill to make the dems look fiscally irresponsible and try to take the focus off his refusal to sign a bill that gives him even more funds than he originally requested. He wants to put the blame on the democrats, and...
For those of you familiar with Keith Olbermann, you know that each night on Countdown, he selects the three worst offenders in the day's news and awards the bronze, silver and gold medal worst people in the world. There are, you would expect, certain conservative pundits(aka assbags), who frequent the list. The gold medal is almost always a Fox Noise employee, especially Sean Hannity, Glen Beck, and the top of the pyramid, Bill O'Reilly.
In kind of a surprising change, Friday's bronze winne...

Ann Coulter...nuff said
I'm not going to post the article because I get flamed everytime I do, so if you want to read it, here's the link

Oh, and she found another round about way to pin Walter Reed on the Dems.
Yesterday, I read this thread (Link) and it really got me thinking.
Is it possible that Democracy - real TRUE democracy - is an impossibility in our great nation. The more that special interest and bureaucracy dictate public policy rather than the constituents, the further we get from the representative democracy on which this country was built. We've gotten to the point that, although the democrats now have a majority in Congress, they're still tiptoeing around the capitol building as if afr...
It's also not a value that America should eschew. I'm principally reacting to this thread:

It's been all over that news that General "Hatemonger" Casey picked up where Ann Coulter left off last week, taking a more tactful, but still completely unnecessary swing at homosexuals, as a preemptive step against the proposed legislation ending the whole "don't ask don't tell" nonsense. In yet another step back for America and humanity in general, Casey's aides have commented that he will not...
Yesterday I made this entry: (Link)
and got several comments connecting the two parts of the entry, because I put both thoughts under the same heading. I'm not going to address the Ann Coulter garbage again, because I know it's unnecessary, but I'd like to go into the other facet of the message, which seemed to get garbled.
We all know that Democrats are not throwing around terms like Ann Coulter, but they are damaging the party's image nevertheless. The current infighting between Obama and C...
Coulter's latest incredibly insulting venture into flapping her gums aside, I'm sick of the whole tenor of politics these days. if even half of the politicians in Washington, and around the country could stop posturing for even a few minutes, and actually do some work, we could start fixing all of these evident holes this country faces.
If candidates worked on tackling the issues rather than their opponents in the polls, we could actually see where they stand on the issues that are important t...
As promised, I will be unable to contain myself from posting Ann Coulter's ramblings. I would like to ignore her and write her off as a quack, but people actually believe the crap she says, and that makes me see red. It is her unwillingness to believe anything that doesn't come from the Bible that bugs me. Now, I've read most of the Bible, and there's some good stuff in there...some good moral lessons that all people should know and follow. But to outright reject something as huge as global...
You tell me if it's a form letter
is the letter I sent to Joe Lieberman a few weeks ago
And here is the response:
February 20, 2007
Dear Friend:
Thank you for contacting me regarding U.S. military operations in Iraq. I continue to receive many letters offering suggestions as to how the United States should proceed, and I certainly appreciate hearing your thoughts.
In 2003, I supported the use of force in Iraq to remove Saddam Hussein from power because I believed that he was a grave threat...
We are living in difficult times, perhaps the most difficult of my relatively short lifetime. We are waging war on a sovereign nation that did nothing to wrong us other than embarrass our nation's leader's father in the early 90s. We are losing more troops and more respectability as each day passes. Countless innocent Iraqis are cut down by sectarian or insurgent violence in the civil war that just won't be declared.
The media is slanted heavily right, and those that are crowing the loudes...
Conservatives...this is me putting you on notice. If I hear you falsely connecting Iraq with al Qaeda or 9/11 one more time, I'm going to find something sharp and pointy to put up your ass sideways. Americans are slowly coming around to the truth you have been trying to shield them from, but there are many daft fools in this country that believe, without even a shred of proof, that Saddam was involved in the travesty of 9/11, making the invasion of Iraq justifiable.
Also, if a bunch of tin ca...
He believes in diplomacy, and cares about our image as a country. He's not too stubborn to bring Syria and Iran to the table to help stem the tide of insurgent help flooding into Iraq from those countries. He also seems to know that there is a difference between Muslim and terrorist. He is a man of faith, but it doesn't overwhelm him. He is a black man, but it doesn't define him. He is well-spoken, but not snobbish. He is flawed, but(and this is important) he is honest about those flaws......
I just submitted this letter to Joe Lieberman, via his website. Let's see if I get a response.
Dear Joe,
I have been a resident of CT for almost my entire life, and supported you in previous elections when you ran as a democrat. I will be honest; for the first time, I did not vote for you in November, and was truly dismayed to do so, especially after supporting you as VP in the 2000 election. With your latest statements regarding the war in Iraq, I feel that you have stopped listening to tho...
to throw his hat into the ring.
The media's coverage of him as a candidate has already been pissing me off, though. I'm glad that he was so candid in his interview, and his treatment of the questions regarding black voters in particular was impressive. The media has already been making a big deal over whether or not he can garner the black vote in 08. I don't remember seeing anyone making the same kind of deal about McCain or Clinton. So, just because he happens to be half African American,...

because I am simply amazed that she is allowed out of the institution, and given free and clear internet access. People like her normally smell of urine, and are rambling incoherently in Times Square.
Her latest "column" is vomit-inducing, not just because of the truly insane subject-matter, but also because Ann knows she's smarter than her readers, and she feels the need to portray her obviously superior intelligence by using words that even the SATs stay away from, marking them as just too h...
Every time Democrats step up to defend one of their own who is having a less than perfect day, the conservatives step up and use terms like cronyism and cover-up, but when it's a conservative under attack for something legitimately wrong, they step up and denounce the "Liberal Hatchet men"
Ann Coulter appeals to the lowest common denominator, but she still gets access to the airwaves...WHY, GOD? WHY?
From Ann Coulter's latest "entry"
Conservatives often ask why so many Republicans go na...
Not to inflame Christians, as I consider myself one most of the time, but I think most of those Religious Right supporters are hypocrites. I've read the Bible, yet I'm not a hateful bastard. I don't understand how people can be so "devout," yet can see their way clear to be complete hate mongers. I spent a good portion of my teen years as an avid student of the bible, and found myself wondering how people can so misinterpret this book in order to fit their own hatreds and fears. Bush, the he...

From Daily KOS:
Senator Joseph Lieberman
One Constitution Plaza
7th Floor
Hartford, CT 06103
Senator Lieberman,
We, the members of the Connecticut for Lieberman Party, have passed the following goals and resolutions for our party at our meeting held on Thursday, January 18, 2007.
We call for you to:
Stop misleading Connecticut voters.
You stated one month before the last election that no one w...
I think that Bush is drastically underestimating this newest crop of Democrats. We all know that he acts like a petulant child when shown even the least amount of resistance to what he wants, but he is really taking this god complex of his to a new level. While every president looks out for his legacy at this point in his term, Bush seems determined to cement his as the worst president in US history, never to be eclipsed.
On the plus side for democrats in congress, with every new lunatic ph...
We need someone who can inspire. We need someone like FDR, like Kennedy, hell, even like Clinton. We need a candidate that can lead and lead with his heart and brain, knowing and listening to what this country needs. I'm not talking about wants here...people don't know what they truly want, but anyone with their hand on the pulse of America can see what our people need. Our next leader has to listen to that, and put any preconceived agenda in a locked drawer. Call me idealistic, call me ins...
