Postcards from the lege blog AAS 10/20/11Perry now 6th in Iowa, poll saysA new poll shows Gov. Rick Perry has continued a precipitous decline in support in Iowa, a state that once held the promise of a momentum-building victory to open the GOP primary season.
Perry’s sixth-place finish in the latest Rasmussen Reports poll of likely caucus participants was a sharp decline from an early September survey that showed Perry leading with support from 29 percent of Iowa Republicans. A telephone poll taken Wednesday showed Perry’s support down to 7 percent.
Herman Cain led the latest poll with support from 28 percent of those surveyed, followed by Mitt Romney with 21 percent. U.S. Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, was third with 10 percent, trailed by Newt Gingrich at 9 percent and Michele Bachmann at 8 percent.
Made my day! Bottom of the barrel Perry!
