And So It Begins....
A girl had released a video of her father beating the crap out of her using a belt. The only difference is my father made me take off my pants. And they were debating if this was abuse or not? No question in my mind. I lived it until I ran away at 13. Luckily I had somewhere to go.
The bastard is a family court judge. Uh uh, not okay. Not for video girl and not for me. Get rid of the guy. He's a fucker.
The Fragile Anarchist.
I'm currently doing a 2.5 ft by 30 foot highway blogging post. Very ambitious but doable. I'm coloring it in now and it's going to pop. Problem is, it's raining outside (as always) so I'm using my warm and dry living room. I now have a paint fume headache. I wonder how many perfectly useful brain cells I just gave to the cause?
This is an add on to the OWS movement, but I think it's important that each of us, even if we can't participate in the OWS movement, participate in this one small (big?) part of it. On or before the fifth of November, move your money to a credit union if you currently have your account at a bank. Did you know that Bank of America is starting a monthly $5 charge if you use your debit card, even once, during the month? Wells Fargo is testing out a similar tactic in five of the states it is in. I don't know about Chase, but really, you think they're gonna sit by while their buddies score more money off the backs of the 99%ers? I don't think so.
Many Credit Unions are open to anyone. Here, where I am locally, there is BECU, which happens to use the same online format as Wells Fargo, so for any of you who really like Wells Fargo's online format but didn't realize that starting this month, you in Washington State are part of a test program in which you'll be charged $3 per debit card that you use, you can feel confident and comfortable moving to BECU without having to sacrifice anything but extra fees, lots of extra fees.
No, I don't work for BECU. I'm actually a Wells Fargo customer who will be moving my accounts in the next 2 weeks and I will be telling them why.
Remember, Remember, The Fifth of November............

Do you automatically think of Timothy McVeigh and Oklahoma? I used to.
Now I think of The House of Representatives. The Republicans and Teabaggers are domestic terrorists.
I refused to get stirred up by the Days of Our Lives Kabuki Theater. I said I would wait until the end and watch them pull the rabbit out of their asshats. They aren't. The fuckers are going to let us default. Those Goddamned Teabaggers and their enablers are going to destroy this country and place the rest of the world on the brink of a worldwide depression!
President Obama, if you don't invoke the 14th amendment and tell the American people why you've been placed in this position, you suck. Congress already sucks. Come out as the hero. And you will be hailed as the hero, trust me.
Don't let those bastards destroy our credit rating and our country just to get even with you for being black and a Democrat. That's all they care about. Honest. Step up and do the right thing, because they won't.
Thank goodness I don't take my health tips from government panels.
There are lots of helicopters. Why aren't we dropping MREs? Or are we, and I just don't know about it? Anyone know?
I know I'm shamelessly using you guys but I don't often do this and I'm up in the middle of my night wanting to know up to the minute and I can't seem to find it at my usual sources. Also, this is one time when being TV free actually sucks.
Thanks in advance for anyone who has good links in the next half hour or so before my sleeping pill kicks in and I get another 4 hours of restless sleep before work.
This is an informational site from the CDC that gives resources about how to obtain potassium iodide.
First, good job people. Taking the Capitol was the right thing to do at the right time. Keep it, and if they actually try to get the police (who don't seem sympathetic to poor Scotty's plight) to remove you, sit and link arms. Don't resist but do not help.
Now, I've heard a number of you complain about the one door and the metal detector. That metal detector is actually your friend. I've seen how peaceful you guys have been through this all and while I have a lot of confidence in you, I don't have any confidence in provocateurs who may try to infiltrate your peaceful and lawful protest. I don't trust that some lone right wing crazy won't come and shoot one of you or even a Senator and blame it on your side. Fight the right fight, don't fight the metal detector, please.

We have and will have difficult times ahead, but in two extremely different topics tonight, Egypt and HPV, I have seen the incredible spirit that is the best of DU. I've been here a long time and sometimes, I have to walk away because this crazy extended cyber family of mine gets hard for me to take. But tonight, tonight, I have have seen the spirit I remember from years past, like with Andy Stephenson and Kephra.
You people rock.
Oh, dear God, I think it's going to be a bloodbath.
Hope everyone who celebrates this holiday enjoys the calm, quiet sanity of home.
As I start this new phase in my political life, I would be remiss if I didn't thank the many people who helped radicalize me. I will miss some because there are so many fellow DUers who with just one post, changed part of my political outlook. Some of the ones who come to mind first are Will Pitt, Nance Greggs, and H2O Man. There are so many others of you and just know that you've made a difference, in small ways and big. My life partners have both influenced me greatly, jmondine, who lived through Reagan when I was so asleep and now just smiles as he sees the changes, the anger, the apoplexy I go through now! And my other partner, whom I will leave unnamed, who participated in the famous WTO fights here in Seattle those many years ago. He introduced me to the concept of affinity groups and that seems like the next logical step for me, so thank you, other J.
Surprisingly to some, I thank President Obama, his administration, the current Congress, the Congress to come and of course, the Supreme Court. You who live in the beltway bubble and think it okay to give Corporations personhood have done more to radicalize and change my political outlook than even eight years of the Chimperor and Darth Cheney. Imagine that!
So, I'm giving myself a month, a month in which to plan, to listen, to decide who my affinity group is. If, after that month, it turns out I'm an affinity group of one, so be it. It may not be the most efficient, but it will be what it will be. During this month, I will watch President Obama, his administration and the Lame Duck Congress. I am looking to see if they got the right message. If they understand that the anger was not about "fiscal irresponsibility" but about the deafness from the Beltway about what were really mad about, Jobs, not enough stimulus to take us out of this recession, too much timidity in this administration and too many things taken off the table, including the rule of law. I suspect they will miss the whole message. I hope not because I would actually like to go back to being one of Obama's ground troops. But without rapid change on his and his administrations part, there is no more hope. Not here.
Perhaps this tidal wave of change will help President Obama, who is a very, very intelligent man, understand, that while he may have been the policy wonk we needed, he wasn't the FDR/Truman we needed even more. Perhaps he will do a 180 change. That would make me so very happy. But really, this is bigger, much bigger than my personal happiness.
Why did I choose a month in which to figure out what my next political step is? Well, it isn't as arbitrary as you might think. See, if we go for the austerity measures that the pundits will tell us that this election was a clarion call for, we won't be in a recession in about 6 months. We will be in a full blown depression, the likes of which my own grandparents lived through, with great scars to prove it. I figured one sixth of the time before a depression was an adequate time to assess whether DC heard what they were supposed to hear and not what the pundits tell them they hear. I know it's fast to expect such sweeping change from a lumbering giant like DC, but the change I am expecting, nay, demanding, will come from the top, from a man who is quick on his feet and smarter than most of us put together. If only he listens carefully and here's what he needs to hear.
Will you hear us, President Obama? I hope so. It is my last hope. I will turn from DC and work locally in ways that will hopefully be creative and useful. I have some ideas and will be putting them in my journal as I go. I have some direct action friends here in the Seattle area and will be conversing with them and relaying what I've learned, if anyone cares to listen in. I think I may be going to some of the better writers here to ask for advice in the next month. And I will be watching.
