Sen. Jeff Bingaman lays out in detail exactly why and how the recent push to increase domestic oil production leases is a scam:
As you can see below, the oil and gas companies are sitting on roughly 64 million acres of production leases that they are not yet exploring or drilling:
Here is a pie chart that shows all the leased acreage on Federal land for oil and gas development, onshore in the lower 48 States. As you can see, about three-quarters of all the Federal land we have leased onshore ...
OK, many (probably even most) of us can now recognize that this primary process has become simply ridiculous. The latest word is over "formal talks" between the two camps. I am dubious of not only the reports of talks, but that anything will actually be resolved in time for our candidate to ramp up a to a optimally-competitive general campaign.
I'm done waiting for someone else to save our party. This is MY party too.
Huffington wrote an excellent piece today at HuffPo reflecting similar ...
Clear your mind a moment and join me in a short thought experiment.
Imagine that the Supreme court had not installed GWB back in 2000, and that we're finishing up with Al's 2nd term.
Our de-facto candidate would be Holy Joe Lieberman.
What kind of Joe would this be? Recall (though I may be mistaken on the timing) that Joe's evil side did not fully mature until sometime around 2004-2005, and were he entrenched as VP, we might not have caught that glimpse of color from the inside of his coat....
That's right! Big Cash prizes! All you have to do is write an article that criticizes the findings of the , and you too could be one of the lucky winners to receive ! The booty is to be awarded by the American Enterprise Institute on behalf of Exxon-Mobil, and it is supposed to be awarded to scientists, but who will know?
To make this easier for you I'll be providing lots of handy phrases you can use to catapult your very own propaganda, but first here is a snippet my own article:

LOWELL -- The heated battle to unionize at the Lowell agency LifeLinks Inc. has carried over into contract talks between the agency and its newly unionized work force.
Officials with Local 509 of the Service Employees International Union have filed more than 20 unfair labor practice charges with the National Labor Relations Board against LifeLinks, which serves developmentally disabled a...
I agonized over the immigration issue for quite awhile... I could not get comfortable with my own stance until I heard similar sentiments echoed by Thom Hartmann, a man for whom I have infinite respect.
Dobbs and Hartmann are both right in that:
. illegal labor and cheap foreign labor DOES devalue the labor of our citizens.
. amnesty WILL do nothing to stem the inflow of illegal immigrants
. big business IS mostly unregulated in their use of illegal labor
. this IS a Rovian red herring to d...

Minsk, Belarus - The United States and Europe said Friday that they would impose sanctions against President Aleksandr G. Lukashenko of Belarus and other top officials for cracking down on a peaceful protest over his re-election, which was widely seen as a sham.
The swift and nearly unanimous condemnations from Western nations widened their rift with Belarus and posed new challenges for their relations with Russ...

Here is a slightly nauseating tidbit I came across while searching for something to make my neocon associate's head explode. Take note that this "indoctrinating america's youth" crapola is only an issue because they make it up. Here is all but one sentence of a in "The Conservative V...

The groundswell for President Bush's impeachment is growing, and last week the establishment media finally took notice.
The Wall Street Journal ran a analyzing how a planned impeachment of President Bush will play out as an "election issue," including a helpful pie chart showing 51 percent of Americans support Congress in considering Bush's impeachment if he "didn't tell the truth about the reasons for the Iraq...
