U.S. Republican vice-presidential candidate Governor Sarah Palin (R-AK) (L-R) meets U.S. first lady Laura Bush and Cindy McCain, wife of U.S. Republican presidential candidate Senator John McCain (R-AZ), in Minneapolis, Minnesota September 2, 2008.
My wife emailed me:
They were talking about Palin on the News this morning and they showed a quaint picture of her sitting in a living room just with Cindy and the First Lady. No men were in the picture. Okay what is wrong with even the thought of this picture. What is she running for? VP or the Wife of a VP?
Now you may think that they are all women and it is not that big of a deal.
But that little scene did not just happen it was planned and you ask why would they have planned such a scene - maybe to put women in their place in no uncertain terms. She should not have let that happen. We should be seeing her sitting in a room with John and President Bush Senior discussing world events or strategy. Do you really think that Hillary would have let that happen. This infuriates me. It is degrading and just wrong. Even in my lowly position, I would naturally sit with the people I work with whether male or female not with the wives or husbands of those people.
Where was her husband? Playing golf with the men or consoling their Daughter after her life and tenuous relationship was smeared for the world to see? UGH UGGHH!. Now I must get to work. Maybe the adrenaline produced from my anger of this will keep me going. That little picture was really a little glue added back to that cracked glass ceiling.
