Are We Living in a 3rd World Country?

Subject: The ACLU/Human Rights Watch Report on Corporal PUnishment in U.S. Public schools.

One can view the entire report here:

I read this and thought I was living in a third world country. I also did open records requests on my state to find out statistical data on how often this is really occurring. What I found was troubling and disturbing.

Why is America behind in Education...because the discipline methods we still use are from the stone ages. There should be an immediate moratorium on beating children in public schools. It is an impractical, inappropriate and archaic failed practice and does not work.

Some of the best schools in the country do not use the method of battering children. Most civilized nations have abolished this practice around the world. And yet, here we are in 2009 still disciplining children in U.S. schools in this manner. 29 states have outlawed this practice, but the others still continue with corporal punishment. I believe the Federal Gov't needs to step in now and tell the rest of the nation to come into the 21st century
