Plus it's a pretty good bet that Saxby his-own-seff hadn't a clue about what the CIA did to Mossadegh in 1953 until his staffers Goggled the blessed event and stumbled upon this very site.

Saxby is the quintessential archetype of the complete fucking conservative idiot.

He's a living tribute to the power of mass stupidity that forms like thunderheads when a dull-witted constituency finds a representative so like them they can actually put aside their prejudices against suits and ties and have a beer with the rotten prick. A recent fraudulent "president" comes to mind...

A politician so thoroughly dumb, so intrinsically corrupt, so lacking in professional ethics, so bereft of empathy and basic decency, so ready to roll for the highest bidder... So... um, Saxby-like that he's inevitable -- along with tens of millions of less ambitious, underachieving clones -- in a jerkwater country as backward as Dumbfuckistan.

He's actually paid to be stupid. And he never lets his supporters down. It's just that the people who think he's serving them -- usually in the animal husbandry sense -- and his actual constituency differ in virtually every possible way.

But hell, who cares about fickle peasants when corporate friends are friends for political life -- and they just keep on giving.

So he's voted consistently to support corporate objectives. In this case, he's making sure kids stay ignorant, misinformed, incurious and strapped to the wheel of conformity -- the better to swallow the preposterous shit he and his wingnut ilk feed the wage and debt slaves they create. It's "hurd wurk" to earn the zillions their overly generous corporate employers pay to them solely to further the cause of good government.

According to this scorecard published by On The Issues, here's how his votes work to accomplish these objectives.

Votes that seem (to me) obviously "bought-and-paid-for" -- rather than simply the result of his good ol' reliable, everyday stupidity -- are in bold.

* Voted YES on additional $10.2B for federal education & HHS projects. (Oct 2007)
* Voted NO on $52M for "21st century community learning centers". (Oct 2005)
* Voted NO on $5B for grants to local educational agencies. (Oct 2005)
* Voted NO on shifting $11B from corporate tax loopholes to education. (Mar 2005)
* Voted YES on allowing school prayer during the War on Terror. (Nov 2001)
* Voted YES on requiring states to test students. (May 2001)
* Voted YES on allowing vouchers in DC schools. (Aug 1998)
* Voted YES on vouchers for private & parochial schools. (Nov 1997)
* Supports requiring schools to allow prayer. (Jan 2001)
* Rated 27% by the NEA, indicating anti-public education votes. (Dec 2003)
* Support the goals and ideals of Charter Schools. (May 2007)
* Supports a Constitutional Amendment for school prayer. (May 1997)

As usual, scratch the surface of a "keep 'em dumb" mush-mouthed republicon asshole and you find:

* an imperialist, empire expansionist, pro-military and/or covert ops interventionist -- as long as there continue to be massive profits to be made off death and destruction for his pals in banking, weapons manufacturing and the oil cartels.
* an anti-choice, women-hating cave-dweller.
* a huge fan of the current for-profit medical insurance rackets and, particularly, how they screw the poor and marginalized.
• a sexually insecure bigot who feels his sexuality is threatened by homosexuality and therefore votes to silence and oppress the messengers rather than look himself in the mirror.
* a fool who actually thinks (if that's not too strong a word in Saxby's case) this would be one hell of a great country if only there were a little more heat on the street.
* because the above works so well, he opposed reinstating funding for the COPS program (a Clinton initiative, so you can see the fucking moron's point).
* a global climate change denier who votes nearly 100 percent of the time in favor of the petro-welfare queen consortium and against granting subsidies and/or tax incentives for any R&D into alternative energy that could harm the revenue streams of his sugar daddies in the fossil fuels business (who spent a modest $577,000 to secure his vote, proving that he can be had fairly cheaply).
* a corporate tool who gets a 91 percent favorable rating from the US Chamber of Commerce. Maybe these votes helped tip the scales:
# Voted NO on repealing tax subsidy for companies which move US jobs offshore. (Mar 2005)
# Voted YES on reforming bankruptcy to include means-testing & restrictions. (Mar 2005)
# Voted YES on Bankruptcy Overhaul requiring partial debt repayment. (Mar 2001)

Anyway, it's still early and I may well be completely off base about ol' Sax. Then again...
