Meta politics is a social dynamic that transcends traditional politics. It's an ALTERNATIVE to the DLC, the RNC, and all the rest of those status quo worshiping acronyms. For example, if you're a progressive, the kiss of death acronym is the DLC (Democratic Leadership Council), since dead enders like James Carville (with his D- record in election success) is already criticizing a meta politician like Howard Dean (who gets an A+ in election success). Millions of liberal and moderate Americans have suddenly realized that we have TWO enemies here: (l.) fascist Bush Republicans, and (2.) fascist DLC type Democrats You may think "fascist" is too strong a word to fit a DLC Democrat, however since the strict meaning of fascism is "status quo-ism", the shoe fits perfectly. The real conflict in America is no longer between traditional Democrats and Republicans (Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dumber), but between "status quo-er's" and followers of meta politics; a distinction which cuts across the virtually nonexistent distinction between status quo Democrats and Republicans. So how do the Bush/Republicans figure into all of this? That's easy. They lunatic fringed us into such a sewer of hypocrisy, hate, and failure that our traditional political protocols simply blew up in our faces. The 2006 election mandate showed that the great majority of the country had got the message that America's civil liberties, moral/rational international reputation, financial stability, and stewardship of the planet had been hopelessly flushed down history's toilet. In short, TIME FOR A CHANGE! But CHANGE is anathema to the DLC and the politicians who have sold their souls to the DLC, e.g., Hillary Clinton and Joe Liebermann come to mind. Side question: IS there a Hillary Clinton? Granted, there's a life form there but since it never takes a stand about ANYTHING, it might turn out to be a hologram. Hillary Hologram -- has a nice ring to it (but who wants a hologram for a President?). No, we want flesh and blood fighters against the Bush/Republican Heart of Darkness. We want people who honor (not dismantle) our American Constitution. We want people who nurture (not rape) Mother Nature. And we want people who aren't determined to turn the American middle and lower classes into a doormat for the Bush Royal Family (or is it the Saudi Royal Family – hard to tell!). In short, we want people who haven't sold their souls to status quo elites. This is the essence of meta politics: meta politics is the knight in shining armor who is now doing life and death battle against corporate fascism, since the mega rich of our country and planet are the literal Kings and Queens of the 3rd millennia. Said differently, the status quo equals a dictatorship of the rich, and this dictatorship is sucked up to by the DLC every bit as much as the RNC, e.g., James Carville does everything by dance around like a status quo court jester (perhaps he actually dresses in motley in Republican private parties). Meta politics is the vision that only the people can save themselves and the planet, and thus we are turning our backs on never-rock-the-boat politicians (of BOTH parties) and the Judas media. The good news is that we are discovering that we really don't NEED these Neanderthal, institutional fail safes for the astronomically rich. The good news is that we are finally (ironically, thanks to the obscene excesses of the Bush/Republicans) realizing that traditional political institutions are MORE PART OF THE PROBLEM THAN THE SOLUTION. The good news is that we have the internet and we have more and more progressive politicians. And the good news is that we are FINALLY "seeing through" the Democratic Leadership Council. The good news is that we are taking in the simple truth that status quo political institutions (of both parties!) are the tails, and we are the dog. The pragmatics of this quantum jump into meta politics are still being worked out, but much progress has already been made. The internet is now burgeoning with sites in which millions of liberal/progressive Americans stay passionately in touch with each other. Petitions are rife and demonstrations are encouraged and assisted. Increasingly there is talk of country wide boycotts (the number one unplayed trump card of the middle and lower classes). Arguably, orchestrated boycotts will be the stakes through the hearts of elitist, corporate vampires. Sometimes in life you have to find out what DOESN'T work before you take responsibility for working out what DOES work, and these last 6 years have taught us that this marriage in hell between DLC Democrats and Bush/Republicans is a cancer which is killing our Constitutional Republic. It's actually strangely like "alternative medicine". Millions of us have discovered that all too often traditional western medicine settles for anesthetizing symptoms instead of treating causes and so we find ways of healing ourselves by working out ways to get at the causes directly. Alas, our country is still in intensive care (2006 notwithstanding) and this status quo political hospital is really a prison. Outside this prison live the pig, pig rich of the planet. Inside this prison are 99% of the human race (whose internet-shared frustrations and resentments are approaching critical mass). And our DLC "Doctors" are really status quo guards to keep us in. If the last 6 years have taught us anything, it's that the distinction between Democrats and Republicans is trivial. Yes, politics may reshuffle the deck (and as one American, I'm still in grateful shock that the fascists and fundamentalists got the boot from Congress), but reshuffling the deck is as far as it will ever go until we profoundly realize that the core distinction on this planet is still between the haves and the have not's. Thus, this still really is the Middle Ages if less than 1% of the Homo sapiens of this planet control basically EVERYTHING. Look, let's see it like it is. Bill Clinton keep sucking up to Daddy Bush and the dems have just as many "elites" as the pugs. Godspeed to the political activities of people like Gore and Kennedy, but these people, just like the Rockefeller's and Murdoch's, are living lives of literal Greek Gods. How hard can it be to stand up and be counted on sundry political issues, when you have a bank balance of a small country? The have and have not distinction has NOTHING to do with politics! There's a handful of Germans and Americans, and Israelis and Saudis, or your country of choice, who live in realities 4 or 5 dimensions away from what 99 + percent of the rest of us can only guess at. To them, we're the great unwashed, the necessary suckers whose bones and blood they build their castles on. They need us as their "work force" and cattle consumers, but they see us as inferior life forms. Cynically (or realistically) put, God isn't love, God is MONEY, and the Greek Gods over the millennia have always known this. All the cliches, aren't cliches. Money really DOES make the world go round, and money really IS the root of all evil. So each time a "centrist" from the DLC (Democratic Leadership Council) starts talking about "bipartisanship", you can be certain they're some Greek God's court jester. These people have cars they don't even drive and limitless, literally limitless, health care. They can have affairs on a whim in Bangkok and parties in personal jets after spending thousands of dollars for a pair shoes. They have tailors, manicurists, and mansions (plural) and they usually pay less taxes than you do. The stress in their lives is probably one thousandth of an average American (i.e., us, the suckers), and they live very long and healthy lives. Look at Daddy Bush. Lots of them take health aids that cost more in a week than a middle class American makes in a year. In short, they live like Greek Gods. And so long as nearly all the wealth of the planet is concentrated in the hands of organizations like the Carlyle Group (which has made billions and billions off the Bush War in Iraq), political deck shuffling is moot. These people are like an anchor to which our ship of state is permanently tethered. So long as we allow the pig, pig rich to continue to be pig, pig rich, our human civilization is doomed, because there are fatal and inevitable CONSEQUENCES of the Greek God life style. The supreme consequence is what's now happening to Mother Nature. The vampire greed of the Greek Gods knows no bounds, so if the Earth has to be eaten alive to satisfy the Midas appetites of this one percent of the human race, then you can be sure it's already game over. So . . . Well, it's all pretty obvious. WE (i.e., basically the human race) have to take our planet back from the Greek Gods. These multimillionaires and billionaires can no longer be ALLOWED. And how do we do this? Good question, but boycotts (stakes through the heart of corporate fascism) and creative, constitutional aggressiveness come to mind. After all, our Constitution has made it clear that the United States of America DOES NOT BELONG to the Greek Gods -- it belongs of all of us. And that means we have the right, the "legal/constitutional" right to take it back from these vampires. How? For one thing, by taxing the living shit out of them. And by passing legislation to "somehow", "some way" more evenly distribute the wealth of the Earth. Call this socialism if you like, but it really doesn't need a name. Jesus justice would be nice. Whatever we call it, the American (and worldwide) rage of the suckered 99% is steadily reaching critical mass. So, message from us to the Greek Gods: We are the country, not you. And we have laws and a constitution that gives us the right to stop living like your servants and suckers. And to the degree that we get the message that your way of life is killing the planet and fanning the flames of wars and tragic violence, we WILL FIND A WAY to once and for all end this obscene have and have not distinction. Biologically put, once our species deems it a survival necessity, the Greek Gods will be selected out. How do you compromise with the anti-Christ of the 3rd millennia? ******************************************************************* Bipartisanship comes later! First things first is justice and law. First things first is Constitutional accountability. First things first is Cheney/Halliburton, New Orleans, and the Bush Family's rape of Mother Nature (don't forget Daddy Bush). But perhaps above all, first things first is our betrayed national defense. It's increasingly obvious that: (1.) 9/11 was totally avoidable -- and maybe more than avoidable; maybe even allowed. (2.) The Bush War in Iraq is all about oil (as we suspected from the beginning), but it's also a hotbed for terrorists beyond Osama's dreams. We should also note that this oil is very expensive, since it's being paid for with the blood of our children -- something that doesn't seem to bother this excuse for a human being (much less a President) George W. Bush. (3.) The National Defense recommendations of the highest government committees have been sneered at and ignored. Thus, it's obscene to be talking about bipartisanship with these religious fanatics and corporate fascists. In WW2, the swaggering Mussolini defined fascism as corporate dictatorship. Sound familiar? Bush chose the cowboy persona instead of Hitler/Mussolini persona, but you know he would have been snapping a riding crop against his leg if he thought he could get away with it. In November, 2006 their Hindenberg of hate exploded before our eyes. Too much hubris, too many lies, too much hypocrisy, and too much literal craziness. History will look upon these last six years as America's "nervous breakdown". We lost it. We allowed these vicious lunatics to engineer a (temporary) coup d'etat. But, thank God, thank the dems, thank the progressives, thank Howard Dean, thank the moderates (of any party), and thank the independents, "we're back". AMERICA IS BACK! We have "snapped out of it" and have chosen reality over delusion, truth over lies, and conscience over righteousness. As one American I can only guess at what a Niagara Falls of tears is now flowing in blessed relief. WE HAVE OUR COUNTRY BACK. The pig rich and religious fanatics have been beaten back into the outer darkness. Yes, we know they're still out there and still drooling about oligarchies and theocracies, but at least for now we can eat our breakfasts like proper Americans in relative peace. Our children have a future again and Mother Nature may be gracious enough to give us one last chance to not self destruct as a species. However, all this is moot if we succumb to the temptation to be nicy nice bipartisan. I know we're tired and we want a unified country again, but THESE PEOPLE TRIED TO STEAL OUR WORLD. You don't "compromise" with people who tried their very, very best to kill our Constitutional Republic. So one step at a time. Let's see what truths the committees come up with and let's get hard evidence on who the traitors are. Let's repeal these insane bills passed by the Bush/Republicans to make the pig rich, pig richer, and let's bring back to life our environmental protections. But above all else, let's not compromise with these animals. Later we can be bipartisan to the max but ONLY after justice is served. ********************************************************************** A contemptible fact which stands out above all others during the last six years is that America's unofficial "4th branch of government" (i.e., the press) has utterly sold its soul to the Bush/Republican Heart of Darkness. Of course, there are a handful of wonderful exceptions to this rule, but they're simply the exceptions which prove the rule. If a year or two ago, George Bush announced that it was patriotic to wear your underwear on the outside of your clothes, a zombie army of anchors and columnists would start preaching the doctrine that only terrorists wear their underwear on the inside. And "preach" is the word since it's increasingly impossible to distinguish between the "news reports" of these fascist collaborators, and the death wish, Armageddon "sermons" of sexually preoccupied religious fundamentalists. The simple truth is that we haven't had (and STILL don't have!) a level playing field when it comes to journalistic news. Indeed, genuine journalists (in America) are now effectively an extinct species. So here we are. Bush is beyond being a lame duck; he's more like a packaged collection of legs and thighs in a grocery store. He has been permanently mandated into the dust bin of history and will be lucky if he isn't impeached and imprisoned. The Bush/Republican/Fundamentalist juggernaut isn't juggering anymore. Yes, it's still out there emitting sparks and smoke, but it’s not going to go very far with a pitiful 31% support. So what are we waiting for? Let's start doing whatever we have to do (and now CAN do) to get this neo Nazi pap out of our media. Petitions, boycotts, committees, whatever, whatever, but let's maximize our creativity to work out how to get this Rupert Murdoch-like infection out of the body politick of America. Remember back in year 2000 how much despair was added to our lives by assuming that Fox Snooze, etc., was giving factual, objective news about that stolen election? We were still naive enough to think that we were listening to journalists. Only later, did we gradually realize that our media had become to America what the collaborators were to France during WW2 (they would do well to remember how France treated those collaborators after the war). Only later did we realize that our media was almost entirely made up of puppet people -- liars and traitors who had somehow crowded out all our journalists. But the hands inside those puppets have suddenly shriveled. Karl who? Dick Cheneyburton? Georgie Porgie? God knows, we still have our work cut out for us on several levels. This fascist/fundamentalist thing that took over our government is almost certainly now getting its second wind, but THIS time our guard is up and THIS time we've got both houses of Congress (and all those potent committees). And THIS time we know its time to kick the Judas media's ass all the way to Jupiter. Sun Nov 12th 2006, 02:06 PM I've learned that the DU population is an absolute gold mine of information and knowledge, so I would be grateful for key statistics about the last 4 elections, e.g., exit poll data compared to tallied results, percentage of voters who voted nation wide, maybe some info about paper trails. Stuff like that. Also, where the data came from (e.g., some company or government department) if you think it's relevant.

Then in year 2000, G. Duhbya ran as a centrist who turned out to be a nightmare lunatic fringe right winger. So let's not let "establishment" DNC types (e.g., James Carville and Hillary Clinton) steal the 2006 midterm election victory from the people who actually WON this election, i.e., Howard Dean and a power block of liberal/progressives. Dean did a wonderful job of infusing some ethics and rationality into the good 'ol boy DNC dinosaur, but he's still just the tip of an iceberg of political dead weight. The DNC, minus Howard Dean, basically equals the RNC. Each is intrinsically a fascist institution, i.e., a no change, no risk, collection of status quo'ers. There's just as many DNC "elites" as there are RNC "elites" and all of them are light years away from the values and vision of American liberals. In 2008 we need a Gore or Dean, not another Clinton marshmallow. We need someone who is in touch with the reality of planet Earth, not another quasi Republican. God in heaven, if we've learned anything in the last 6 years it's that we're fighting for the very life of our planet and country, and for THAT job, the last thing we need is a DNC country club non-boat-rocker. One wonders if there actually IS a Hillary Clinton! Admittedly, there's a life form there with that name who never commits to anything and who has spent the last 6 year ducking and sliding around all national and international issues of substance, so it's almost impossible to know what she believes about ANYTHING. Now this is old time politics. Don't take a stand about anything and hope you can slip through the back door at election time because no one knows what you are for or against. I doubt if Mrs. Clinton would say if she's for or against nose picking, much less tax breaks for the mega rich. Of course, the one exception is that she has gone on record over and over again supporting the Bush War in Iraq. One wonders why she didn't also get a big kiss from George like Joe Liebermann did for so consistently supporting the Iraq horror show (which even Bush is now acknowledged has been chiefly about oil). But, forget about Hillary and Carville, etc., (literally!). We've got to figure out how best to eat this bread we've baked. And by the way, you may have noticed that suddenly "liberal" and "progressive" are no longer political dirty words. Of course centrist DNC'ers would jump out of a window before they identified with a liberal or even populist (e.g., Harry Truman) agenda. No, these people are going to play it very, very safe and answer all life and death planetary questions with, "That's for me to know and you to find out". But you can take it to the bank that DNC elites are going to do their very best to discount Howard Dean (it's already happening) and American liberals. And it's just a matter of time before they come out with their constitutional and planet trashing "compromises" with Heart of Darkness Bush/Republicans. What happened in 11/7 was a literal political revolution and we have to make sure we keep this precious bread we baked, because it is arguably the only hope for our country and planet. So the point is NOT to compromise with Cheney/Halliburton type energy companies that are raping and killing Mother Nature. The point is NOT to compromise with tax plans that turn millionaires into multimillionaires and multimillionaires into billionaires (while breaking the back of the middle and lower classes). The point is NOT to compromise with scientific retards who destroy medical research (e.g., embryonic stem cell research) while under funding out of existence the priceless American scientific community. And on and on. Became this is what DNC centrists "do". They keep making deals with the devil so as not to rock that elitist international country club boat -- a country club which is equally indifferent to the desperate planetary warnings of Al Gore and the honorable populist values of Howard Dean. So, buzz off Hillary and Carville (and Joe Liebermann). You've shown your true colors too many times and just because you can smell this life and death bread, doesn't mean you're going to get to eat it. Hey, if we were smart, organized, and well financed enough to take our country back, trust us, we're not going to let you turn our victory in a DNC Clinton/Carville marshmallow. Let's face it; we got our country back (sort of) in 11/7 IN SPITE OF the DNC. These zero change conservatives are indistinguishable from the RNC. Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumber. We learned many lessons during the last few years. May I tick off a few? (1.) We leaned what happens when our Church & State Constitutional government turns into a Church and Church sitcom theocracy. Ugh! (2.) We learned what happens when America's corporate elites turn our country into a dictatorship of the rich oligarchy. Ugh! (3.) We learned what happens when our unofficial 4th branch of government (i.e., the media), becomes a soul selling Judas Press. Ugh! (4.) And we learned that ONLY grass roots liberals can power ethical, rational change in America. Hey, we just did it, so kudos to US! Bottom line, we're the dog and the DNC is the tail -- NOT VISA VERSA! We've got to take it in that what happened on ll/7 came straight from the people. So (alas) we can't rest on our laurels and trust in the DNC, i.e., we can't say that since we put the dems back in control, our ship of state will now sail properly. Thinking that is the kiss of death since the DNC will be captaining the ship and these greedy, incompetents will steer us straight back into iceberg city. No, this is a "power of the people" thing, and liberal/progressives are now the power, so let's not make the fatal mistake of giving it back to Daddy & Mommy DNC. What just happened was a literal political revolution and winning that revolution carries with it the awesome responsibility to stay in the exact center of things and keep actualizing our values and goals. Mother Nature needs us, not the wimpy DNC. Out "disadvantaged citizens" (in the millions) need us, not the wimpy DNC. The Bush War in Iraq needs us to pour oil on those agonizingly troubled waters, not the wimpy DNC (e.g., not Joe Liebermann). Science and education will end up in the same trash heap the RNC put it if we surrender our power back to the DNC. So this is an SOS to my much loved liberal/progressive extended family. Let's not minimize what we accomplished and let's make sure we follow through with the courage of our convictions. We flexed our muscles the RNC whimpered. Now it's time to do the same with the DNC. Above all, let's stay connected! It took us awhile to put this all together since we were so murderously blind sided by the neo-Nazi Bush/Republican/Evangelicals, but now that we've learned how to play this life and death social/political game, let's make sure the beat goes on! Lose/Lose for Pugs! ********************************************************************* It's now planetary common knowledge that the only way the dems won't get both (repeat, both!) houses of congress back is if the pugs commit nation wide voter fraud. So if we get the Congress back, GREAT! But if we don't get the Congress back, yes, not so great, but our consolation prize will be that the Bush/Republicans will have dug themselves even deeper into public contempt. Plus, we'll have a green light to raise so much hell with million + demonstrations that we'll short circuit their spinning machine. Plus, we'll have the total empathy of the rest of the planet. In short, their "victory" will be trashed by the moral/legal outrage of most of the country and planet. Look, all they can do now is to keep spinning the lie that the marriage between the Bush/Republicans/Evangelicals and the United States of America is not already dead in the water. We've all seen this happen before. You know, a marriage that is absolutely over, but the wife beating husband (for example) keeps pretending the divorce has not happened. The Republican Party now has ZERO credibility. Too many lies. Too many failures. Too many murders. Too much greed. And on and on and on and on. We gave them enough rope to hang themselves, and guess what; the stench of their self destruction is reaching the outer planets. Ironically (and wonderfully), this ZERO credibility political party will be suspected of voter fraud even in the elections they might legitimately win. It's the crying wolf thing. They've lied to America so many times that now even barnyard animals don't trust them. So let's all watch the exit polls and compare them to the tallied results. That's just one of many ways we can nail them. But most of all, let's participate in a tsunami of fair and square Democratic voting. We know they're going to try to steal every election in sight and one way to stop that is to publicly stand up and be counted (literally). That's Plan A, and God willing, it will be enough. But plan B is to dig down to our quarks to rescue and invalidate all self evidently stolen elections. In either case, let's show the rest of the planet that our country (one way or another) has what it takes to heal itself from this Bush/Republican/Evangelical cancer. Who gives a rat’s ass about a media twisted joke? If these neo Nazis didn't have something to spin they'd be drowsing in their own vomit. Kerry's a good guy and he is a bona fide war hero. Enough said. The main thing is to keep our liberal tsunami going! We've finally got these scum on the run (good song title!) so let's not let ANYTHING interfere with our country wide momentum. Don't shoot me, but "positive thinking" should be the name of the game between now and ll/7. Visualize getting both houses of congress back. No, seriously, the Buddhist's talk about one-pointed meditation. Our one pointedness should be on WINNING THESE ELECTIONS. Is the fix in? Of course it is, but are we such wussies we can't win these elections "in spite of" Bush/Republican voter fraud. And even if they do manage to steal a few elections, EVERYONE WILL KNOW the elections are stolen and we will raise so much hell we'll wake up life forms on Jupiter. We will ROCK this country with million + sized demonstrations. We can make them wet their pants by our sheer numbers and rage. And by the way, the WORLD is watching these elections and well knows that it's lose/lose for everyone for the pugs to steal the 2006 elections (just as they know the 2000, 2002, and 2004 elections were stolen). The international standard for election fraud is when the discrepancy between exit polls and the tallied results is statistically significant the election is officially fraudulent, and according to that international standard John Kerry is now the legitimate President of the United States. So what, you say. Well it's nice to have backup and validation when criminal theft is running amuck and most of the planet if praying we get our congress back. Here's another positive thought. BOYCOTTS! Arguably, boycotts are the chief unplayed card of the middle and lower classes (i.e., Democrats). Hey, boycotts really work. Regardless what happens in November, let's start boycotting some of these corporate fascists (beginning with EXXON would be nice). No kidding, we can really BRING THESE CORPORATIONS DOWN if we stop buying their products. Ironically, the market place is the soft underbelly of these would be country and planet killers, so let's hit them where it hurts. This isn't academic, wishful thinking. Country wide boycotts of pig corporations is a "non political" way to destroy greed vampires -- the stake through their hearts, as it were. But it won't work unless each of us realizes that we are the other guy. If you and I don't make these things happen, it's hopeless. So, the big picture here is INCREDIBLY POSITIVE. From the beginning, most of us knew if we gave them enough rope they would hang themselves. If your house is crawling with termites, a paint job and a mowed lawn just isn't going to cut it. If your ship has been gashed open beneath the water line, telling jokes as the captain's table just isn't going to cut it. And if your hypocrisies, lies, murders, and failures are obvious to barnyard animals, Judas Fox Snoozing just isn't going to cut it. These people are going DOWN, my liberal brothers and sisters (I really do think of you as my ethical/rational extended family), and NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS ON 11/7, they are already sinking into history's quicksand. And you know what, I think most of them already know it -- at least some of them are hearing the iceberg cutting into the hull of their desecrated ship of state. ********************************************************************** Mathematics has a subject called Hypothesis Testing which works like this. If something you claim is true, then a critical experiment would have an acceptably probable result and if you don't get that result then the claim is rejected. With a slight adjustment, this is basically the form of the scientific method (remember all those science fair projects for our kids?). Something like, if you're in Albuquerque, then you're in New Mexico. And if you aren't in New Mexico, then you're clearly not in Albuquerque. Thus, a fairly recent Ukrainian election was judged to be fraudulent because IF the election was fair, the tallied results would have had to be within margins of error of the exit polls. However, since the discrepancy was "statistically significant", the scientific consensus was that the election was fraudulent. Ironically, EXACTLY the same thing happened in our country in the 2004 Kerry/Bush election! The exit polls unequivocally gave John Kerry the victory, but e-voting machine smoke and mirrors gave George Bush the election. Of course, one way to account for this near statistical impossibility is to explain away the exit polls. Another interpretation is country wide voter fraud. But if we're going to swallow the whopper that the exit poll, international standard for measuring election fraud somehow "mysteriously" didn't work in just our country, in just that election, and in just those states without paper trails, then we shouldn't be surprised if we're asked to buy the Brooklyn Bridge again after November 7. ********************************************************************** Science is great and religion has it's moments, but isn't it time to remind ourselves that there's other fish to fry? The fine arts, for example. How about giving more attention to music or painting or literature or architecture? Civilization, after all, didn't begin with science and religion can get pretty brassy. In the Renaissance, there was a lot more going on inside those churches than recycled theology. Something deeply mysterious was appearing on those walls and ceilings. Some vision not unrelated to the cave wall paintings of our deep ancestors. Some communication or sharing not capturable in a catechism or equation. In short, something FUNDAMENTALLY different from science or religion. And hooray for that, since that two note song gets a tad BORing after a while. Music, classical music, jazz, whatever, whispers to us about what? Alternative realities? A piano concerto by Rachmaninoff, if that's your thing, certainly isn't "background music" for a church or laboratory. Yes, Bach wrote music for church ceremonies, but that was more like a circumstantial excuse and the music has long since been enriching our lives as a glory in its own right. Rock & Roll may be a long way from Bach, but it sure takes us places that are just as real as a physics classroom. So just what IS all this beauty, aesthetics, and art stuff? What's happening to us when we disappear into a Dostoevsky novel or the poetry of Blake or Rumi or a home by Frank Lloyd Wright? Or what's going on reality-wise while we're being ravished by a night sky or buffeted by salty winds on a lonely ocean beach. Nobody really knows, do they, and that's what's so wonderful. But it's certainly more than "decoration", that we DO know! Plus, it rescues us from this endless ping pong game between science and religion. Who knows, maybe our next quantum jump will be to outgrow both religion and science. Not really eliminating either of them exactly, but just frying bigger fish. ********************************************************************** wcproteus |
