Time for this election year reminder: "One of the ways in which elected representatives are curbed and controlled is through a never-ending process of phoney elections. They are called opinion polls. Presented as an expression of the popular will and thus an expression of democracy itself, they serve the opposite purpose. They are a method of control. Opinion polls are artificial news events, easily manipulated, yet are treated with reverence in Media World, which is not surprising consi...

put her at odds with many red state Senators and others who were going to cut off funding for HIV/AIDS prevention, outreach, treatment and support. This truly pissed off a great many people in states that one would assume she would need votes from. She held her ground and did what was right and courageous. Thanks to her courageous stand - even under the threat from Senators like Thune and Enzi that they would add grotesque amendments like making it illegal for health care providers to discuss ...

The media will jump all over Giuliani when they see he's trying to close the closet door. His website fails to mention he has kids! Or that his marriage to his second cousin was annulled. Or that he carried on a very hateful public adultery with his "nurse friend" while his wife bled in public. He's also extremely defensive about his father being "associated" with the mob - not true, he says! There is so much more. So, so much more. Neither Obama nor Edwards has real foreign policy experience,...

the small number of people in Idaho with AIDS would be covered. When you consider the population of New York State, for example, which is more than several states combined, then look at the number of people with HIV or AIDS in New York state, giving money to Idaho in equal amounts as New York will accomplish nothing but to deprive over 100,000 people in New York of health care and further frustrate health care providers and citizens in Idaho with too little money to mount an effective response. ...

Without dedicated health educators like yourself, we would be even worse off with regards to AIDS in the US. Please accept this information and advice in the spirit of addressing a very urgent crisis - which also includes gay men who are aging and developing different responses to treatment and HIV and/or hepatitis co-infection, a completely out of control crystal meth problem that is transmitting both HIV and HCV, and the issue of poverty that has never been addressed with regards to HIV in the...

called the Ryan White Care Act Reauthorization that is currently before the Senate. One thing you can always count on is turning the topic to AIDS in Africa or elsewhere when the topic of the AIDS crisis in the United States. Why? Because it deals with racial issues, sexuality and poverty. There is currently an awful bill that was passed by the Republican dominated House and which is stalled in the Senate, thanks to great leaders like Senator Clinton, Obama and others. I pray that the bill doe...

non-veterans alike, to people with disabilities and chronic illnesses, to people unable to come up with a co-pay or cover a donut hole, maybe they would realize that Bush's tax refunds equal euthanasia by neglect. What could be a greater admission of total failure of the health care system for everyone save the well-insured and wealthy than the VA's effort to enable vets to buy $4.00 prescriptions at Wal-Mart? Invest in the health of all Americans, especially the chronically ill, and we will sav...

what should be tens of millions of Republicans who have seen the very foundation of Democracy be crapped on in the name of power and secrecy and personal advancement and lies. For what? It's just not American to be a Republican. The thing that saddens me most is that it will take so many years to fix the problems caused by Republicans. They have even abused people of true faith, let alone the tens of thousands of wounded military who will live out their lives fighting for disability benefits. My...

The FBI teams, surveillance planes, trained dogs, and hundreds of volunteers from several countries were brought in for a high school girl whose friends say she was drunk and got in a car with some guys she didn't know.Do you think that Hastert or Shimkus or Boehner or Reynolds would have looked at that as just a cute, white son of a judge and his two friends being friendly by offering a ride to the girl? Or would that have been considered overly friendly? Or is it not about protecting or helpin...

When you have Pat Robertson saying that Hillary Clinton running would motivate the Christian Right better than the devil while reading the same exact sentiments (usually in more nasty tones and outright attacks) it really makes you wonder :wtf: This is not a private, Democrats and Progressives only group. Sometimes I think there are more ghosts, trolls, freepers, republican operatives, abusers of potential therapeutic venues to crap in, and staff for K street lobbyists here than there are of p...

Bush and those who enabled him owe us justice. We live under laws. By rules of decency. Astonishingly, otherwise decent people called Republicans let this administration do this to this country. Bush, Cheney, Hastert, Santorum, DeLay and all those whose blind dimwitted support of "republicans" has had a worse effect on this country than anything, ever, has had in our history. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. To put political appointees, cronies, into positions of authority without regard t...

but agree that Jersey was the most stubborn resister of anti-slavery laws hundreds of years ago, and that they have had a very active KKK movement going on for well over a century. But they are just a little bit smarter than how you characterize them. Suburban sprawl and property taxes are two huge issues in Jersey. They appreciate the good cheap labor that illegal immigrants provide, but don't want to deal with paying for (or believing they are paying for) the social services that are required ...

Ex-NJ Governor Tom Kean, who wasn't even the Governor of NJ when 9/11 happened, and whose spawn is running for US Senate against Robert Melendez, was interviewd regarding the ABC Republican propaganda piece: Covering up Lies, Incompetence and Greed of the Republican Party. Wouldn't you know it, but the feces spattered lips of said Tom Keane revealed that he was the consultant and that the writers and directors never failed to address the inacurracies he pointed out. It's all about all media feeding the interests of corporations, and itself. The first response to 9/11 was about the disruption of consumerism and commerce. It's still about dependence on oil and maintenance of the "business class" as the power brokers in this country, and in other countries as well. This is what Capitalism without integrity, honesty or restraint looks like. When the core principles of a business are superceded by the dictate to make money by any means necessary, including throu...

of the incredibly stupid and very ill-advised destruction of the infrastructure of Lebanon. Enabling the mass displacement and suffering of at least 750,000 of the Lebanese people is unforgiveable. If the fully justified destruction of Hezbollah fighters was the goal, Israel and the US have demonstrated that they needed to cause massive destruction to test the military capacities of their enemy and verify the actual military stocks of Hezbollah, and victimize an entire country to test the precisi...

A time to reflect on what has already happened to this country. Freedom to Fascism - A Bumpy Ride (Link) By Sheila Samples "There's no end to the rascality of these flinty-hearted bastards..." - Rep. John Dingell (D.Mich) speaking of Republicans, quoted on CNN's Lou Dobbs Tonight, Nov. 11, 2003 What is the matter with the Republican Party? As one born within a tiny, tree-shaded Republican enclave in Missouri, raised by compassionate family-values-oriented Christian conservatives, and whose ...

Other less invasive and less dangerous ways to prevent HIV and other STDs 1. Stop the rusty knife and blunt scapel mutilation of women's clitorises 2. Stop HIV-infected men from buying virgins and fucking them to "cure" AIDS 3. Stop forcing women to serve the sexual needs of HIV-infected relatives when their husband or "owner" dies 4. Teach men how to clean their foreskin properly. Dirty foreskin increases the transmission of STDs, not clean foreskin. 5. Stop the rape of girls, boys, women...

June 3, 2006 Op-Ed Contributor How to Grow a Democratic Majority By DANIEL GALVIN New Haven To establish a new majority, Republicans aggressively built up their organizational presence in weak Republican areas, especially in the South. As early as the 1950's, they ran schools to train activists and campaign managers. By the 1970's, they were developing new methods of recruiting candidates and enrolling party workers and volunteers; they created teams of "field men" to travel from campaign to ca...

Laura Bush comments that some people in the media seem to be enjoying her husband's non-existent woes. The Pukes have ALWAYS claimed the media is a liberal sewer. Fitz must remain untainted by any perception of partisanship. This is about the law. Pukes are praying that someones (like, say, a Dan Rather) in the media will gang up and gloat and prematurely divulge the workings of a grand jury. As soon as they have been formally briefed, they will cut into Bush's immigration sppech with breaking...

* is not a stupid, uniformed person. He and his criminal entourage have brilliant plans to fleece this country, and the world of power and resources. They have been enormously successful. Now they want to bring in head consigliere James Baker III. They just know how to corrupt the speaking patterns of honest everyday people. They use language of the masses to deceive, incite and confuse. They use gut LCD issues that speak to basic human insecurities. They create the other as evil, threatening, i...

Very few people have the level of understanding of the spoken word as used by orators and politicians just 40 years ago. A JFK speech? A Ted Kennedy speech? They express the truth and the fiber of over 200 years of Democracy and most people don't have the attention span, let alone the comprehension to fully understand what is being said. We have been corporatized to respond to 30 second commercials, and public relations nonsense. I can't stand to listen to Kerry, just because I know that most pe...
