Mon Oct 23rd 2006, 06:49 PM S.O.S., LAMONT SUPPORTERS!
Please read and sign the letter below to the FEC to help our Dem candidate in CT, NED LAMONT THE CITIZEN-CANDIDATE, WIN Nov. 7!!!! http://www.nedlamont.com/page/s/fecletter October 23, 2006 Office of General Counsel Federal Election Commission 999 E Street NW Washington, DC 20463 RE: Formal Complaint Regarding Friends of Joe Lieberman (Committee ID: C00235515) Dear General Counsel: Please accept this letter as a formal complaint regarding the apparent violation of Title 11 of the Code of Federal Regulations, section 102.11, by the Friends of Joe Lieberman committee, and Joseph I. Lieberman, individually. As set forth more fully below, the Lieberman committee has failed to account for more than $387,000.00 in supposed petty cash expenditures in violation of 11 C.F.R. §102.11. On behalf of the citizens of Connecticut and all federal taxpayers, it is hereby alleged: Title 11 C.F.R. §102.11 (2 U.S.C. 432(h)(2)) (Petty Cash Fund) provides: A political committee may maintain a petty cash fund out of which it may make expenditures not in excess of $100 to any person per purchase or transaction. If a petty cash fund is maintained, it shall be the duty of the treasurer of the political committee to keep and maintain a written journal of all disbursements. This written journal shall include the name and address of every person to whom any disbursement is made, as well as the date, amount, and purpose of such disbursement. In addition, if any disbursement is made for a candidate, the journal shall include the name of that candidate and the office (including State and Congressional district) sought by such candidate. The Friends of Joe Lieberman committee, and Joseph I. Lieberman, individually have violated the clear and unambiguous terms of 11 C.F.R. §102.11 in at least the following three ways. First, according to the FEC October Quarterly report filed on October 13, 2006, the Lieberman campaign has petty cash disbursements amounting to $387,561.00, which is roughly 8 percent of its total disbursements, or one out of every twelve dollars spent. On several occasions, petty cash disbursements greater than $100 were reported, as supposed payment for “volunteers.” A summary of these disbursements from the Friends of Joe Lieberman report is attached hereto. These disbursements reflect patent violations of 11 C.F.R. §102.11. Second, the report does not include the name and address of every person to whom any disbursement is made, as well as the date, amount, and purpose of such disbursement. Again, Friends of Joe Lieberman stands in clear violation of 11 C.F.R. §102.11. Third, and perhaps most troubling, the Associated Press reported earlier today that Lieberman spokeswoman Tammy Sun claims the cash was supposedly used pay to field coordinators who then distributed money to workers who were canvassing (Andrew Miga, Lamont Questions Lieberman's Spending, October 23, 2006). There is no evidence that the Lieberman committee kept and maintained a written journal of any kind regarding these disbursements as required by 11 C.F.R. §102.11. As I am sure you are aware, the rationale for this regulation is to, among other things, prevent the creation and utilization of slush funds for illicit purposes. The $387,561.00 involved here is a sum of supposed petty cash expenditures unprecedented in any race in our state’s history. The Lieberman campaign’s patent disregard for this regulation calls for the immediate investigation of this matter by your office to ensure that the voters of Connecticut can be fairly informed about the conduct of their elected officials. I would appreciate you contacting me to confirm receipt of this complaint. I thank you in advance for your attention to this pressing matter. Sincerely Yours, Thomas Swan 300 Research Parkway, Suite 102 Meriden, CT 06450 Posted by wordpix2 in General Discussion: Presidential (Through Nov 2009)
Thu Aug 24th 2006, 09:37 PM had dinner with him and his super conservative wife who give to Repug causes and asked them:
1) Where is bin Laden and why are we in Iraq? His wife's reply: it doesn't matter where bin Laden is {!} and my bro said we must look at Iraq as part of the broader war on terror against radical Islamists. I countered that Iraq had nothing to do with 911 and I still don't know why we went there, except for oil and BushCo thought it would be an easy target. I kept saying, whatever happened to finding and killing bin Laden, why did Bush outsource his capture to the Afghan warlords at Tora Bora, and why are we in Iraq when it was bin Laden who perpetrated 911? My bro and his wife had no good response. 2) I asked them why the Bush twins weren't fighting in Iraq, if it was so important to the pResident. I asked if they (bro and wife) would send their own young grown up kids (3 bright, college educated, beautiful young women (2 are new mothers) and a young man with everything going for them) to fight in Iraq. My bro and his wife said that was a ridiculous question because this is a volunteer US army and there is no draft and that's a good thing. I asked if they thought it was fair and right that our "volunteers" are required to do 3 tours of duty and they said, that's what these "volunteers" signed up for. 3) I brought up a recent proposal that's being floated (as in, trial balloon) by some East Coast land trusts and farmland preservation groups. This is to preserve farmland, not just for clean air, water, open space and fresh food, but also for Food Security Zones. That is, there is still some significant farmland left within 1 hr's drive of places like NYC, Baltimore, DC and so on. What if there is a disaster like food contamination caused by terrorism, or the price of oil is so high that it impacts the cost of food in a major way? Isn't it wise to have a Food Security Area within an hour of a major city, in order to be prepared? My bro's wife said, "If the cost of gas or diesel is high, wealthy people will still be able to buy food." I said it's true some people would still be able to afford it but what about the rest? There would be mass riots and looting for food and anything else of value. My bro said it if got to that point, Food Security Areas wouldn't help but storing food and oil would. I said, we don't have space to store enough oil to keep us out of a terrible situation like that for long and my bro said we have plenty of oil---two months' worth for the whole country!!! I said that's not enough to last us through the winter so we'd better get better prepared that that. My impression was that neither my bro or his wife had thought very deeply about any of these things. I think they're floating in a comfortable bubble of Bushco conservative Koolaid. We really have to burst the repug bubble in '06. http://www.countytimes.com/site/news.cfm?n...
A Legal Opinion May Put Damper On Impeachment By: Rebecca Ransom 08/17/2006 WASHINGTON The new opinion represents a shift in the advice of Mr. Miles, as cited two months ago by First Selectman Dick Sears, who said the attorney deemed a petition calling for a town meeting legal. In June, an informal group of citizens petitioned the board to hold a special town meeting for the purpose of discussing and voting on a resolution calling for the impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney. The resolution would be based on a specific set of alleged offenses, including that the president subverted the Constitution, and its proponents envision seeking to have Washington's call for impeachment travel up the governmental ladder until it reached members of Congress with the power to initiate impeachment proceedings. At that selectmen's meeting, Mr. Sears said he had spoken with the town attorney, who offered the opinion that calling such a meeting based on a petition was legal and an obligation of the board. The board must call a meeting when a petition signed by 20 or more citizens is brought forward, unless it can deem the request "unlawful, frivolous, and/or improper." snip: The local petitioners' efforts are part of a national grassroots movement where municipalities are passing resolutions calling for the impeachment of the president. Cities and towns in California, Vermont, New York and other states have passed similar resolutions. To date, no municipality in Connecticut has passed a resolution on the matter. Mr. Cornet said the group is tentatively planning on re-petitioning the Board of Selectmen in September. http://www.countytimes.com/site/news.cfm?n... Something GOOD is happening in Connecticut's small towns. A nearby town voted 75% for Lamont in the primary vs. Lieberman. Discussed Right Now. Apparently a Hinchey amendment in the House. I couldn't find it on the web but a friend called me, she's watching on TV.
because if you keep putting it out there, some terrorists are gonna do just what you're taunting them to do. Tone down the rhetoric, Dickhead.
Note that Dick is taking over the justification of the war for Chimpy who just can't seem to explain it well to the people. Maybe Chimp is feeling the pinch of public scrutiny and asked Darth to take over? snip: "Iraq was a safe haven for terrorists, it had a guy running it who had started two wars, who had produced and used weapons of mass destruction. Taking down Saddam Hussein was exactly the right thing to do," he said." LOL, "It had a guy running it" sounds like Dickhead is referring to BushCo, Inc. and their Persian Gulf I and II wars, not just Saddam as Darth would have it.

Title: Arresting Patients Wastes Resources Urge Congress to Pass the Medical Marijuana Amendment The bipartisan Hinchey-Rohrabacher medical marijuana amendment would prohibit the U.S. Department of Justice -- which includes the DEA -- from spending taxpayer money to arrest or prosecute medical marijuana patients in the 11 states where medical marijuana is legal. Take Action Message Recipients Your Congressperson - Representative , Congressional District No., State Print a Letter Dear (recipient name), Customizing the Message is required I urge you to support the Hinchey-Rohrabacher medical marijuana amendment when it comes to the floor during consideration of the Science-State-Justice-Commerce Appropriations bill this July. This amendment would prohibit the Justice Department from raiding, arresting, and prosecuting patients who use medical marijuana in compliance with state law. To further burden seriously ill people – those suffering from debilitating diseases such as HIV/AIDS, cancer, or multiple sclerosis -- with arrest, or even the fear of arrest, is unconscionable. In the aftermath of terrorist attacks against our nation, our limited law enforcement resources should not be squandered harassing our nation’s most vulnerable citizens. The real threat to our nation comes from those who are committed to violence against Americans. Stopping terrorists should be the priority of law enforcement. Please take this opportunity to insist that the Justice Department focus its resources on actions that will truly protect us. Your vote for the Hinchey-Rohrabacher amendment will help make Americans safer. Thank you in advance for your support. Sincerely, Your name Tweety reminded Trent that Bush said he would fire anyone involved in Plameleak from his maladministration. Tweety asked Trent why Rove wouldn't be fired for this, since it's documented that he leaked twice, once to Matt Cooper. (Sorry, I forget who the other recipient of Plame info was). Tweety was saying, if Karl Rove leaked twice against federal law, why is Bush keeping Rove? Does Rove have to be indicted to get fired because * isn't making a move, like he said he would.
Lott's answer: Karl now has a job in "politics," not "policy." Lott also said something about Rove being ruthless and that he (Lott)doesn't like being ruthless, himself. ![]() Lott, since you don't like being ruthless, why don't you come clean about your BigOil-BushCo-destroy the coastal environment connections? ![]() On a higher note, Tweety was actually asking some Hardball questions of Trent Lott. Thank you, Chris, for actually playing Hardball. ![]()

other high Crimes and Misdemeanors."
I would say manipulating the intel to lie to Congress and America about a war that never should have been waged and has been grossly mishandled would qualify. Also, his secret energy deals with BigOil and other hush hush biz with major corporations, taking our national lands and selling them or leasing them for a song would likewise qualify. Goodbye, Cheney, you are history and when you're impeached there will be no good words for you unless you immediately change your destructive, stupid and many would say evil ways. I cannot wait until you are gone. Let it be well before 2008. ![]()

charge. Good news. Go, Conyers!
![]() Waht's with "leader" Pelosi? Does she have a bee up her ass or does she not yet think * is deserving of impeachment yet? Maybe both. snip: Top Democrats did not sign the call. Neither House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) nor House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-MD) have joined the brief. "It is very disturbing that, on the same day we learn that the NSA has been secretly collecting the phone records of tens of millions of Americans, we also learn that the Department of Justice has abruptly cancelled its investigation into the Agency's warrantless wiretapping program," said Rep. John Conyers, the ranking House Judiciary Democrat who is spearheading the initiative. "These developments clearly point to the urgent need for oversight and review of this program. Congress has failed to provide this critical oversight which has led us to the courts." The brief argues that Congress never authorized the warrantless spying program, neither through the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 nor the post-9/11 authorization for use of military force. It details the legislative history of both and asks the court to halt the program immediately.

that you have to decide what's best for yourself and to hell with the validation. When the repukes start herding certain "undesirables" into ghettos is when I'm outta here. I won't be waiting for repukes to be loading the "undesirables" into cattle cars and then waiting for those people to disappear. It hasn't gotten to that point though, and I'm going to do my part to make sure it won't.
When I graduated college in the '70s, I decided that moving away from my city roots was the best idea as I did not feel safe there. I was concerned about the warmongering (this was the end of Vietnam War), nukes, pollution, and I just wanted a quiet place with some earth under my feet. So I moved to Oregon and learned how to grow a garden, take care of chickens and so on. Meanwhile, the guy next door was swooping down on his farm fields spraying pesticides and the US gov was permitting the clearcutting of our virgin northwest national forests for a song. The trees were sold to the Japanese for almost nothing. I lived on farms through the seventies and eighties. The last farm home I moved to, which I liked a lot and still do, was in a beautiful New England small town surrounded by farms. In the past 20 yrs., though, suburbia has moved in. Through all this time I have been very active in open space preservation but people are very dumb and short-sighted sometimes, especially in a town like mine, run by repuglicans. They are destroying the land and water but I am still fighting the development whores and ignorance. It is very disheartening at times. I sometimes think I could do more by going to DC helping to help bring down BushCo rather than doing what I do here. I'm in the autumn of life where I think, if I help save the nation and younger generation and I get killed in the process it will be fine. Another part of me wants to retire to some quiet place (only quiet ones left are quite cold or buggy, IMO). Bottom line is, you've got to figure it out on your own. Don't think that Canada or anywhere else is paradise, though. I lived in Canada for 5 yrs. and there are problems there, too (one of which is, it's damn cold!). I've been on one of the remotest Caribbean beaches in the world and it was littered with tons of plastic. Do what you can to make and leave the world better, wherever you go. To me, that's the bottom line.

ings. Repukes are already hollering, "The Dems will impeach if they win, we can't let that happen!" If/when it does happen, there could be major turmoil including things like assassinations (remember RFK, MLK during Vietnam War), dirty tricks (we already have plenty but they could get worse) and police brutality and jailings during gatherings (as at Democratic Convention 1968).
So get ready, it might get worse before it gets better. Hopefully we will make a peaceful transition to a Democratic majority in Congress and then a Dem president, but it could get bad as impeachment proceeds. We really need to educate the sheeple because the more who are knowledgeable, the better for us in the days ahead.
