They are still in pre-Coakley election night lost mode. They don't seem to have learned anything from the MA senate loss.
Debbie Stabenow - Still talking about the Republicans 41 votes and how she's looking at them to see what they're going to do. She will continue to propose legislation and see if they will block it. Obama - We shouldn't jam the healthcare bill through without first seating the newly elected senator. The Whitehouse - They don't know what their going to do about healthcare now that they've lost 1 seat. Obama - We may slim down healthcare reform. After the MA election they said they got it. Except... they didn't. Like I said yesterday. Healthcare reform could have been done 6 months ago and Coakley would have sailed into the senate seat. The Democrats are looking slow-footed, lethargic, inept, and weak. They were hit over the head with a two by four and once they regained consciousness they forgot they lost in MA. What does it take for them to get it? DEMOCRATS we elected you to do something besides talk. I can't believe I've helped elect a bunch of talkers. They can propose legislation but... well... if the Republicans filibuster then... their question seems to be, "I don't know what to do next". YOU FIGHT FIRE WITH FIRE! GET SOMETHING DONE!!! You've got 59 seats. Put the Blue Dogs on notice. If you block significant legislation and cause us to lose more seats we will primary you. Tell them, the people expected the following. -Healthcare Reform -Cap and Trade -Regulatory Reform -Jobs Tell them - If you stand in the way of what you knew we were trying to accomplish since 2008 then we will run someone against you that will help us move forward on what the people voted us in to do. The key to fighting Republicans should be a no-brainer: -Don't continue to bargain with people who will undermine your own chances of re-election. -You make them filibuster pieces of the healthcare legislation... in public. I guarantee Republicans won't filibuster "pre-existing conditions". -You use reconciliation where ever you can. -You use the bully pulpit every chance you get. -Trash the Republican for the obstructionists they are. -You don't take your nominees like the TSA off of the table. You call senators like Demint on the carpet and make him continuously answer why he's holding up such an important nominee. -Stop giving the Republicans 41 votes more power than our 59. That makes no sense. Help me understand what's going on with the Democrats. We seem to be in a loop. Are the Dems more clueless than I thought. Tue Nov 03rd 2009, 04:55 PM The media is out of control. And many are parroting the media. I'm starting to regard the media as entertainment and entertainment only. This isn't even opinion journalism. It's tabloid entertainment. There is little substance beyond people complaining about nothing!
Did everyone really expect that healthcare would get passed in one week? How about bringing the troops home in one month? Or closing Abu-Graib in a day? What of ending don't ask don't tell? 10 months! And the media is asking you to believe one of two things. He's either too slow... or he's moving too fast. Which is it? Did folks forget that there is a constitution and that he explained that he would follow the constitution. Congress was supposed to lead on Healthcare. He is supposed to differ to the other branches of government. His job is to sign it into law. Again! He's moving too fast! He's not moving fast enough! Shouldn't he slow down! He's dithering! Shouldn't he put more troops in quickly! He should take his time and assess the situation on the ground! Pull! Tug! Lead! Too much exposure! "He should come out forcefully for a public option!" And so he gives a speech to the joined branches of congress and states clearly what he wants to the tune of "you lie" and the media is still explaining that he isn't clear enough and they spend an entire week pimping Wilson to the national electorate. WTF! And to boot - the media has been wrong about damn near EVERYTHING! They've been on the wrong side of coverage even when they say they're covering news! Sanchez of CNN (Huh) wanted to bulldoze Fox for explaining that he did not cover the tea bag protest! ARE YOU SHITTIN' ME?! He gave that noise machine a dissertation on Fox's own promoted event? He looked real smart there didn't he? And... Cost containment is more important than the health of all Americans...? The media is an arm of the political discourse in this country and the rest of the world is laughing at us. They are looking at us and wondering what is going on in this country. HOW CAN COST CONTAINMENT WITHIN HEALTH CARE BE MORE IMPORTANT THAN LIFE ITSELF? EXCUSE ME! And the media just laps up every freaking talking point the GOP lays out there. The entire media from coast to coast on every channel has become Fox Noise! Stop following Fox down the rabbit hole. The grenade is going to go off sooner of later and news will lose the shred of legitimacy it has. This endless drum beat of negative vomit is not news. It's just vomit and I think people should stop parroting the negativity. DU should hold a moratorium one day a week on the gossip of the day and call for the promotion of the positive accomplishments of the last 10 months. Do we really want to go back to 8 years before? Remember that? The media wants the Hoffmans and the Becks and Limbaughs to rise up once again. We only help them by promoting their stories. Stop it! Depress this noise by reporting Democratic accomplishments. The president in 10 months has done more than any president in my memory. President Obama is not perfect. He doesn't walk on water. We must push him to be the kind of president we elected. Write him and tell him not to keep feeding Afghanistan! Tell him to stop caving to his advisors. This is more constructive than being a megaphone for the negative dumbasses rotating the network dials. Posted by wowimthere in General Discussion: Presidential (Through Nov 2009)
Mon Oct 13th 2008, 10:34 AM The media is jumping on this ludicrous story about Obama palling around with terrorists just because a GOP VP said it and yet they forget to check how stupid this actually "IS" at the door. If we're talking about guilt by association then that means anyone who supports Obama is with the terrorists or is a terrorist sympathizer. By that assessment the list of the guilty is a pretty long one.
Is VP pick Joe Biden a terrorist because he happily accepted the nomination to run with obama? Obama is leading McCain in the polls 53-43. Does that mean 53 percent of the polled electorate wants a terrorist or terrorist sympathizer to run our government? To set our foreign policy? To set our economic policy? Obama is supported by the majority of Democrats and many Republicans. Does that mean that the Democratic party is a terrorist organization? Are fringe elements of the Republican party terrorist or terrorist sympathizers? Are the Clintons who gave their full-throated support of Obama at the Democratic convention terrorist sympathizers for supporting Obama who sat on an educational board with rehabilitated radical William Ayers? How about All of those Republicans who gave money to Ayers? What do you call them? What about the Annanbergs? What about Dick Cheney and Bush? Are they guilty by way of blood lines with Obama? Remember the famous line by Bush..."If you're not with us then you're with the terrorists"? What about all those senators, both Democrat and Republican who worked with Obama to get legislation done in the senate... are they terrorists or terrorist sympathizers? All those people who shook Obama's hand at all those rallies, some of them 80 thousand strong... are they ALL terrorist because they wanted to shake his hand, watch him speak? How about all the people who gave to Obama's campaign? Obama collected a whopping 66 million dollars in contributions in September. What does that make Obama's contributors? A terrorist network? How about the press... those people who fly in the same plane with Obama How about all those people who voted for Obama in the primaries and caucuses? What does that make them? What about Ellen DeGeneres who danced with Obama? What about all the senators and congressmen who support Obama, who still support Obama? Are these people terrorist sympathizers? Is this sinking in? Doesn't this whole line of questioning about something so irrelevant now sound really silly and dumb? Next time people want to launch an inquiry into Obama's past, please for the love of mankind think before you act. Think about it because it seems this whole Ayers fluff is about to blow up in somebody's face come Wednesday. That Ayers can be tied to McCain and people who support McCain may very well be McCain's undoing. Posted by wowimthere in General Discussion: Presidential (Through Nov 2009)
Tue Sep 23rd 2008, 11:18 AM Nothing wrong with supporting your wife but Bill, you act like Obama is a criminal who conned America for the last 8 years. While you're endorsing Obama, you're explaining your affection for McCain, a known criminal. Part of the Keating 5. Supported letting big business run amok. Voted against the MLK birthday. Lies at the drop of a hat. Campaign run by the same clan that helped Bush steal both of his elections. Well Bill I know you lie too but McCain's lies have gotten Americans in deep trouble, killed even. You are heeping a lot of praise on a crook who voted with Bush over 90 percent of the time, someone who was against torture and now says torture is not so bad. It means he supports war crimes, Bill.
So you have this global initiative project where you do good for the world but then you turn around and appreciate a guy who is a conman and a criminal, who is part of the con party contingency in power now while you half-heartedly support the candidate who played fair in the primaries, who played by the rules but because he won the contest over your wife you barely mention the candidate of your own party's name? You are still holding onto a statistic that isn't even true. Hillary did not win the popular vote, Bill. Further, you're showing your appreciation for a man who championed a war of choice in which innocent people died. Bill, you're sleeping with the enemy. You are supporting John McCain, the war criminal, the de-regulator, the man who knew that we went into Iraq for oil. Bill, how do you feel about this? Obama is against the war, doesn't have a criminal record and you choose to align himself with both candidates as if Obama is no different than McCain?! WTF! Obama is the Dem nominee and it seems to be okay with you if the crook, McCain helps crooks of his party run the country for another 4 years. Are you kidding me? We were robbed by the Republicans currently in power and that includes McCain and you're praising this conman? Wow! Unbelievable. Do us all a huge favor and follow Hillary Clinton's lead. Stop whining about what could have been and support the candidate of your own party. Hillary Clinton has the good sense to understand what's at stake. She does not want more of the same. John McCain is the guy who talked about your daughter, let others disparage your wife. Remember? Bill... do you remember that? Next time you decide to open your mouth, act like you have the same good sense that Hillary R. Clinton has and stop blathering praise where there should be none. Be the leader that helps unite this party. You did a bang up job at the convention but you need to extend it. You need to work hard to get Obama elected and you need to do it up until election day. Perception is everything. You know this. Look at this country and the crisis we face. Do we want more of what wasn't good for us? No. Consider this. When you heep too much praise on the neo-con-party, you look like you're sleeping with the enemy and don't mind bragging about it. Mon Sep 15th 2008, 09:54 AM How can Obama raise 66 million dollars in August, gain another 500,000 donors and have over 80 thousand people show up at his Denver speech and be tied with a corrupt politician who can't even get 5000 people to hear him speak, who can't raise money on his own and has to lie about the crowd sizes to create perception that he's doing well enough to be considered a presidential hopeful?
80 percent of this country believes that this country is going in the wrong direction and I'm supposed to believe that McCain who votes with Bush 90 percent of the times is tied with Obama? COME ON! All indications are that Dems will gain more seats in the House and the Senate giving the Dems an overwhelming majority to push their agenda but Obama who is a popular Democrat who can get disaffected Republicans and Independents to vote for the Democratic ticket may not get to the white house because he's tied with a Republican who was responsible for enabling Bush? COME ON! The Democrats have registered 11,000,000 more Democrats than the Republicans and I'm supposed to believe that Obama and McCain are tied? COME ON! McCain picks a woman to be his running mate (for political reasons) who has absolutely no foreign policy experience (a credential he ripped Obama for), who is as corrupt as he is and is just a heartbeat away from the presidency and he and Obama are tied? COME ON! All together! Chuck Todd is LYING! MSNBC is LYING! CNN is LYING! ABC is LYING! CBS is LYING! Wallstreet Journal is LYING! USA Today is LYING! And the polls...? GALLUP IS LYING! RASMUSSEN IS LYING! THERE IS NO TIE! This is a fabrication. This is an illusion. This is a fairytale. The Media and the Polls they road in on are FULL of SHIT! They want you to believe the illogical. It's a LIE. How can they get away with THIS LIE? Obama and McCain are NOT TIED! Good commonsense defies the logic of the polls. The media who sponsors these polls is holding these polls up as a way of pushing their own agenda. People should do one thing consistently. Write or call the media outlets to tell them that you aren't gullible, that you know that they are trying to sway opinion and possibly the election. Mon Sep 08th 2008, 01:34 PM The media will help candidates of their choice steal elections
Chuck Todd is a likable guy. Everyone seems to like him, trust his judgment because he's the numbers guy. He sounds believable and so people want to believe him. We believed him when he was saying all of the right things about Obama. And normally reliable media personalities like Chuck Todd will get you to fall in love with them in the early going. He's lulling you to sleep, to trust him, trust everything he has to say. He will convince you that he has all of his facts correct even when we know he doesn't. When he's right more than a few times we listen to him, drool over his brilliance and ad-nauseum his peers will gush over him, calling him trustworthy, on top of things, the best political numbers guy in the business. He analyzes the polls with deft accuracy even when the polls are bullshit. Somehow he makes the polls legitimate even when they are sponsored by none other than the MEDIA! "But... If Chucky T says it then it must be correct." STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wait one second. Back up. Chuck T was wrong on many polls during the primaries and he covered himself by saying the polls are all over the place. Didn't Chuck Todd say this is a change year, that Obama is the change agent, (fucking with you now) that Obama should be ahead, that Obama doesn't seem to put things away, that Hillary might be able to win this thing (when everyone knew she couldn't), that McCain is gaining because... because... because... Palin, maverick status, and so forth and so on. If you've been watching you'll have seen Chuck Todd's dissertation on the election go from great for Obama to Great for McCain and watch how many follow him into the abyss. A number of posts here have championed the Chuck Todd scenarios. They've given Chuckyboy great credit for being a straight up guy. LESSON ALERT: When Chucky T tells you that McCain is winning in a change year because people don't know who Obama really is... he is creating "perception", "reasoning", "doubt" based on GE's facts and many fall for it. Election analysis has to be given by someone we trust in order to put networks in a position to help swing an election. That's right... networks swing elections to put their own agenda front and center. They cultivate perception, create doubt about, up-end even the purest of candidate if it means they will lose revenue, power. Usually this perception is given by none other than someone who is deemed trustworthy in the media. Everyone has started to trust Chuck Todd. Why not... he's the affable guy. Why not the guy who actually looks like the guy next door? People... remember who he works for. He works for the power base of the Republicans. He works for the special interest. He works for those people who want business to continue as usual. Did you see the indicator? His role at MSNBC has greatly expanded. He is the one who can create the doubt about a candidate such as Obama because he is who most people "want" to trust. Do not be fooled. Creating perception and reasoning is a strategy that worked in 2004. This is how it goes. "Kerry didn't make the case against swift-boaters and that sunk him." Perception worked because the media said so. Create a doubt as a reason for Kerry having lost the election and we shall buy that reason forever... because the media said so. In reality everyone knew the swift-boaters were lying. The media knew that Ohio was the state that would be stolen. The media help to foster the perception of a close election and that created the opening for good sound reasoning. All of these were scenarios so that you would not be surprised. Chuck Todd is building up to a beautifully coordinated show. He is sewing you doubts about Obama. Creating sound reasoning, filling us with the perception that the presidential race is close even when republican senate and congressional seats will be turned over to the democrats immediately. You must ask yourself if you are going to allow someone like msnbc and the other media networks to come in and handle you anyway they please or stand up and help change actually occur. COUNTER ALERT: Tell the media that WE are not buying their bullshit! Don't tell them to stop reporting news because that is what they do. Don't even boycott. Just make them aware that you are on to them. Just simply tell them that you know they are trying to swing the election, that they are distorting the truth because even though we like negative reporting they see this as a way to lead us. It is important to to convince media organizations that we aren't stupid, that we only want the truth. This will help them understand that media will not be able to continue to lead people like sheep if they can't be trusted. Posted by wowimthere in General Discussion: Presidential (Through Nov 2009)
Thu Jun 12th 2008, 04:58 PM Keith Olbermann hands down. He's accurate. Katie Couric was a "run up to the war" cheerleader. She had all of that power and asked no tough questions. She actually said, JAGS you rock as if going to war was like attending a football team. Now she's running her short up the flag pole on whether Clinton's campaign was done in by sexism. Yes, there was sexism at play thought the MEDIA of which you are a part of. Katie, again... why didn't you open your mouth WIDER when you heard it going on. Like the Iraq war, your questions about how we got into it are too late. You aren't a very credible journalist by any stretch of the imagination.
Olbermann was correct to call you the worst person in the world for ripping on one of your peers because you should get that fucking log out of your own eye. You are Jinny come lately every sing time out. Keith has been on the right side of the issues, front and center every time out. He questioned the rationale for war. He talked of the sexism in the campaign. And the racism. The lies. The stupidity. Where the hell was Katie? Crickets. Women should not be questioning Olbermann for taking Couric to task. They should take a look at Couric's actions during the run up to the war and during the primaries because in both instances she was invisible. I trust KO to knock KC out of the box anywhere, anytime. Thu Jun 12th 2008, 04:45 PM When I heard Joe Scarborough and Mika taking Howard Dean to task on Obama's vetter while ignoring the fact that McCain has tons of lobbyist on his payroll I thought, wow... they are hilarious. They sounded hilarious when they did it. This particular vetter has since resigned.
Now, as if there aren't bigger stories in the news, (Impeaching Bush) we listen to MSNBC talking to Rice, Obama's national security adviser about MCCAIN'S many foreign policy gaffes and instead of raking McCain over the coals for getting his facts wrong for the last several months - he doesn't even know the difference between sunni and shia... they take her to task for presenting this as a gotcha moment. This is dangerous. They make a non-starter a monumental event where Obama is concerned and barely question McCAin's blunders, lobbyist problems when these are huge. I laughed before but now I see what the media is doing. They are trying to tear Obama down. Obama's baby momma. Terrorist fist jab. Scarlett Johansen emails. White working class problem... there is none whatsoever. White working men problem. Minimizing the bounce Obama got as the Dem nominee Obama has been right on all of the issues. McCain has been clearly wrong on everything. But the media is giving McCAin a free ride. We have to thank many of the blogs for keeping this election honest. I RE-ITERATE. LAUGH AT MAINSTREAM MEDIA. YOU TAKE THE MEDIA SERIOUSLY AT YOUR OWN PERIL. THEY ARE NOT TO BE TRUSTED. With that said, listen to them, set their records straight when you can and LAUGH YOUR ASS OFF AT ALL OF THE DUMB PUNDITS ON MSNBC, FOX, ABC, CBS. Why laugh? Because none of what they are doing will work. NOT THIS TIME! And take heed. Keith Olbermann is one of only a few good journalists out there. Thu Jun 05th 2008, 10:40 AM Risky. Calculating. Selfish. And yes... CHILDISH. These are the unflattering characteristics I'm witnessing in a candidate I once believed would make a great first female president. Gladly, she won't be our first. That historic moment will be awaiting another woman who shall get to the highest office in the land on her own merits.
I'm young but in my years of voting, I have never ever seen a democratic presidential candidate running for the highest office in the land exhibit the kind of behavior that Hillary Clinton has. When someone explained that she needed some "time" to retire from her campaign in a way of her own "choosing", I thought... this is someone who everyone said was strong enough to be commander in chief. She had balls of steel as one of her supporters alluded. Hillary Clinton, the candidate who talked tough and voted tough and threw back shots like she was just one of the boys needed to be treated with "KID" gloves? This is a woman who screams sexism then talks like a racist and she needs to be handled very carefully? She throws a tantrum it seems whenever she can't get her way. She starts out as the inevitable candidate with a boatload of money and a gargantuan machine and she ends her campaign in the back seat, in debt and a depleted army largely because of the mistakes she made and now she wants to blame Obama because he won like David over Goliath in large measure playing the cleanest game politics has ever seen? She felt a sense of entitlement and the fact that someone would actually run against her and win shaded her with a fuming child-like vengeance. That's right... she is being vengeful toward a candidate she didn't beat. The many faces of Hillary Clinton have arisen during her long fought campaign. She was warm and fuzzy toward Obama one moment in a debate and ranting at her opponent in the next breath about mailers. She has changed the goal posts of victory so many times that the goalposts are outside of the arena. And many in the media, political circles let her do it when she screamed loud enough. Was it about delegates or super delegates? Delegates! No, ummm super delegates... um maybe. I'll figure it out for you. Michigan and Florida don't count! The media climbs on board with her insistence. Now that she's lost, Michigan and Florida do count. Yes! Of course they do. Delegate count? No! It's the Popular vote. Every time she wanted her baby bottle she got it. If she was full on formula and screamed loud enough for more, she got it, it seems without question, without hesitation. Now that she has lost, instead of doing the right thing - suspending her campaign, conceding, endorsing the presumptive nominee - on the day Obama reached the victory number, what does she do? She throws a shit fit! She doesn't suspend her campaign but instead tells the world that she hasn't made a decision. She throws her thumb in her mouth and toddles off the stage. And like parents scolding a child, congressional Democrats (20) and senators who supported her told her that she made a grave mistake throwing that tantrum on what should have been Obama's proudest moment. Clinton is a grown up, People! But you wouldn't know it. The decisions she made were grown up decisions. You wouldn't know it though. Everyone knows that when you change the rules in the middle of the game then that's called cheating. She is of the age where she should have known better on many different fronts. From her IWR vote, and her web of lies regarding Bosnia and NAFTA to the mismanagement of her campaign and her hijacking and using her supporters for political gain, I find it quite breath-taking that Super Delegates and supporters alike have enabled her to behave like this. If people can't see that holding her supporters in an attempt to gain access to the white house, in affect trying to tell the presumptive nominee how to run things then you are as delusional as she is. When you've lost the nomination you don't get your way with his office. That's common sense. People... stop enabling and coddling a grown-up who doesn't know any better. It's time for tough love. We've already seen Democrats coddle one president. Once in our lifetime is enough. We don't need to exhibit this kind of dysfunctional behavior with a candidate who has lost not only the election through her own faults but who has lost her way to adult-hood. It seems the only candidate who made all of the grown up decisions in this historic race for the white house... was,,, indeed... Barack Obama. That's who should be our next president. Tue Apr 29th 2008, 04:56 PM After weighing the merits of the arguments for or against Obama, I am now more convinced than ever that Barack Obama is what we need in a president for this country, for this world.
The Wright controversy puts us squarely in the politics of the last 7 years. Politics of distraction. Politics of negativity. Politics of distortion. This has been cooked up by the Republicans (it took fire on Fox), has been seasoned by Clinton (to swing momentum in her direction) and burnt by the Media pundits (clips played over and over to shape public opinion). I am a steadfast supporter of Obama and that hasn't changed and will not change. As a matter of fact, I don't have to look at the news shows to know what their next move will be. I'm so used to it. This is the same thing that has been happening for the last 7 years. And what the right wing, the military infrastructure and the Clintons would like is nothing better than to have politics continue as it's been for this generation and beyond. Obama represents a break from what has been, what hasn't worked for Americans and what will serve our long term interests through out the rest of the world. Clinton will not be able to change our politics of destruction because quite simply she's of it, is married to it, is indoctrinated by it. She has bought into the belief that since the Right wing is better at Politics that she will play the game their way and if she should be so lucky to win the nomination, she will have a chance to shape a few of her policies if again she should be so lucky to make it past the right wing in the General Election. Her strategy is a flawed one and one that will never carry her where she would like to go because she's made her bed with the lot of the right wing. She has bought into the notion that she can only win by playing the game their way. Obama's strategy is a better one because it benefits more people. It includes everyone. Be clear on this... the Wright story is a side show that the neo-cons want to play to get everyone in the country to question Obama's run for the presidency. This tells me that the media, Clinton, the entire republican party want to continue to take this country down the wrong path. When that many people jump all over statements that Obama never said and when that many people want to glue Obama to the statements and activities of people he knows without looking at their own actions then I know I'm backing the right candidate. Obama is that candidate. Someone I can believer in. Someone who didn't authorize a war all democrats detested is the right candidate. Someone who didn't vote for a bankruptcy bill that strapped more debt to poor people is the right candidate. Someone who did not take lobbyist money to influence the help he would give all Americans is the right candidate. Someone who will set the mission to bring all U.S. forces home and leave no permanent base in Iraq is the right candidate. The media - hijacked by the Republicans - will have you believe that Wright is the only issue we care about. It isn't! I don't care about Wright in the quest for the presidency. I care about this country and a president who can lead us out of the same dumb kind of politics we've all come to hate. Obama supporters talk more about the attributes of Obama and stay away from the peripheral issues the Media and the Republicans will have you salivating over. The right wing lives on hypocrisy. That's why I know I'm on the correct bandwagon. A candidate that acts in the best interest of his own party, in the best interest of his country, in the best interest of a people, in the interest of hope and optimism is the only candidate who can lead us out of this darkness. I will re-iterate my position on Obama. Obama should be and will be the next president of these United States. Not this time! GOBAMA! |
