is not necessary. There will be so many retiring no one needs to walk out. Just retire and at least you'd get the cost of living increase. 1 in 4 controllers are eligible to retire by the end of 2007. 9 out of 19 are eligible at Bangor, Maine right now. There will be fewer and fewer controller's working. It takes at least 3 years to train and get proficient. There is no getting around that. I've been a controller for almost 19 years in the FAA. Turmoil abounds in management, and as soon as I am able (September 28, 2012), I am out a here. Have fun newbees. You'll be making 30% less, with no cost of living increase in your salary, to perform one of the most unique jobs around. Can anybody say employee turnover?

The FAA plans on imposing their version of a contract as soon as Congress DOES NOT act within a couple of weeks on the current impasse. For more info see: www.fairFAA.com
